I will start my review with my big caveat first... THIS PLACE IS NOT OPEN ON MONDAYS. Me and 7 other friends were headed to this restaurant this past Monday night on the high recommendation of two other fellow friends. We were so sad when we got there and the place was silent and locked up tighter than a submarine in New London. We ended up down the road eating Japanese. Not what we originally were drooling for but were very pleased at that place too. Anyway... not to be deterred, three of us tried it again the next night. Yeahhhhh they were open!!!
We were welcomed by a hubba hubba guy who I asked if he was Luigi... he said he was Luigi's grandson. Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiice!!! That boy's finer than frog hair. I also love seeing businesses that stay in the family.
I ordered a Bocci Ball and the waitress didn't even blink an eye or say, "what's that???" when I ordered. A good sign. We all come from Houston and unanimously agreed that the seafood in CT is way different... fresh and tasty! No crawdads or mudbugs anywhere. Thank Gawd.
Staff was friendly, smiled and upbeat. I wish I could import these people to Texas to teach our local hired help what customer service is like! Heck... what a SMILE is like. It's so refreshing to have a waitstaff show their genuine appreciation that you're there at their place of employment... spending money... keeping them employed!!! What a concept!
I leaned over to my friend and said, "This place must be good! Look- Even Italians eat here" Go eat at Luigi's. It's good 'stick to your ribs' food and the view of that grandson isn't bad either. Tell them crazy Asian Laura sent you.

Pros: Great Family Owned Small Business, hard working and not waiting for their bailout check.
Cons: They're not located in Houston
Italian restaurant, also offer steak & seafood. Booths are kind of cramped, if you make a reservation, request a table. Food is decent, service is excellent.
3Luigi's is an institution of Old Saybrook. It's a popular spot Thursday through Sunday, and more so on weekends. The cuisine is traditional Italian, with dinners, pizzas, pastas, salads and subs. Luigi's sauce is a very sweet red
