The greatest. I called late on Friday with a big order and they had it ready next day in the a.m. The blow away all those witch towns like newtown and weird places like that because there are no italians up there. Derby Rules in food..Mattei's is number one!

Mattei's has THE BEST EGGPLANT!! i can't make it as good. It is thinly sliced (as on a slicer) and only parmesan cheese is used, and flour on the eggplant is used, not heavy breadcrumbs and the sauce is a homemade marinara . i NEVER HAD BETTER and i am a serious critic .

Best eggplant in CT. Can't beat it and prices are great! It is the best known deli in the valley and the lunch line is huge every day. Only devoted Mattei's customers can understand what makes it so special.

We live in Newtown and make the drive to Mattei's for their delicious Italian food...we LOVE their tomato sauce. We always order their stuffed shells, meatballs, and eggplant parm for holidays. Worth the drive!

Mattei's is known in the valley for their eggplant parmesian, meatballs, and ziti. They have great sandwiches, especially the eggplant parm. They are also the best knwon caterers in the Naugutuck Valley and they always have more people calling for orders than they can handle. Their food is fantastic and they have tons of extremely loyal customers who would agree with me.

Although it is certainly NOT THE BEST !

I've tried it a couple times and was just eating the food, NOT particulaly ENJOYING the food.
Nothing to get excited about. See for yourself

I didn't care for it.
I would rather go out of town and eat.
Last time I USED 2ND STREET DELI IN MONROE AND THEY PROVIDED EXCELLENT SERVIS.
MATTEIS ISN'T AS GOOD AS I EXPECTED.
