We have used Quaker Farms Kennels for over 20 years. My Dogs have been well treated and come home healthy and happy. The grooming services are good also. The owner takes personal care of the animals.

Though not a "palace", the owner of this facility takes great care of my dogs! They are always greeted kindly, and the true test, for my dogs at least, they don't try to run away when I take them there; they like Wendy, the owner. She has no problem administering meds when they need them. She is very understanding when you have travel issues as I had once when my flight was cancelled. She only charged me for the extra day's stay and her rates are very reasonable to begin with.

This was the best kennel experience I have had with local kennels. I will continue to drive a half an hour from Cheshire to use this kennel. The facilities are not as nice as most kennels due to the age of the building, but the facilities should not be top priority when choosing a kennel. The character of the owner and the care the owner provides your animal should be your main concerns when choosing a kennel. My dog was greeted in a friendly fashion when I walked in the door. The building is old, but well taken care of for the most part. The building actually has a newly renovated front side and new tile floors in the runs on the main floor. As for the previous review, if a customer is using a kennel for the first time, some owners will collect the money up front. I have read articles about people delivering their dogs to kennels and then leaving town without a trace, rather than abandoning the dogs on the streets. The owners probably collect the money up front as a preventative measure for first time customers. Also, the way this kennel works, smaller dogs are put on the main floor and the bigger dogs stay in the basement. Bigger dogs tend to dig into the ground more I think, and the basement has concrete floors to withstand the damage. Also probably for noise purposes, the bigger dogs are kept in the lower half of the building. I know my dog is a very loud barker. If you're not looking for your dogs to be pampered at a 100 dollar a night puppy palace, but rather, for your pet to stay at a reasonably priced, local kennel with a reputation for quality animal care, this is the place for you. I definitely recommend Quaker Farms Kennel.

I went to the Quaker Farms Kennels once to board my dog. When we arrived, the owner immediately asked us for our money. Once we paid, she ushered us to the basement of the kennel and showed us the kennel our dog would be kept in. Not once did she even acknowledge our dog - it was like he wasn't even there! The place smelled foul and you could see large areas of "waste" that had definitely been sitting there for more than a day or two! Needless to say we took our dog and left.

PROS:
CONS: Unclean, unfriendly-doggie prision!
