I picked up my two dogs (10 years and 6 years) today after boarding them for a week. They were happy (but not anxious) and healthy. The kennel is clean and everything is well organized. There was no 'doggie' smell and all of their belongings (blankets, meds, etc.) were returned to me without any problem. The owner and employee with whom I spoke were friendly and knowledgeable. Tailwaggers is a beautiful facility and I would not hesitate to board my dogs there again - and will in a couple of months. I know they were well cared for.

Hi:
My name is Cooper and I'm a French bulldog. Mommy dropped me off at doggie daycare today and I was really scared. I've never been to a kennel before let alone doggie daycare...what was she thinking. Mommy is starting nursing school today and she's been stressed about leaving me home alone. We've been driving around for 2 weeks looking at one concrete building after another. We go inside and mommy talks to the people, she asks a lot of questions, looks around and we leave but mommy is upset. I ask myself~What is she doing and why she is so sad? Today mommy seems so happy as we pull up to Tail Waggers of Litchfield. I'm getting scared...Why is mommy so happy, what's going on? We get out of the car, I look around, sniff a little and then we go inside. Wow, pretty nice for a concrete building. Mommy talks to the nice people and then they show us around. I hear her say she's needs a place to leave me 5 days a week while she goes to school and she wants to know about the other dogs I'll be playing with. Oh My God, Oh My God...my tail is wagging (well, I have no tail) to meet my new friends. I'm always looking for new friends that won't judge my French quirky ways. Mommy leaves, then Damien and Ania take me outside to meet my new friends. There is Sky, Bousier, Beatrice (I'm in love) who come over to meet me (sniff, sniff, sniff). Wow, a fire hydrant, a pool, a slide...I think I'm in heaven.Thank you mommy and most of all thank you Tail Waggers.
Love,The Coop (my nickname~don't you just love it)

Don't confuse Tail Waggers with the previous kennel on the same property. New owners! That's why I say from one pet lover to another, do your research. You should always ask for a tour before you board or do daycare for your dog. Tail Waggers did just that for me. They showed me everything, even the bathrooms! I know every room in that place now and every service they provide. They let me know exactly what my dog's stay included and when they would do it. I have worked in a kennel for over 5 years myself and I don't trust just any kennel. My dog goes now to doggie daycare too. He can't wait to jump out of the car and play with his friends. For a kennel they are as professional as they can be. We're always greeted with a smile and a pat on the head for my dog. See for yourself!

This local boarding kennel just opened up this past year and we were thrilled since there were none in the area. The local radio station has been running ads for Tail Waggers for months and it sounded like a wonderful place to leave our dog while away.
We picked up our dog just yesterday after her first stay at this kennel and we were instantly alarmed by her condition. She is twelve years old but in excellent health. She was delivered to us with filthy matted fur and bleeding toenails. The clerk told us that she had worn down her rear toenails on the concrete and that was why they were bleeding. She said they tried to stop the bleeding but she kept walking in her water and it would start again. She also seemed dazed and lethargic. Once we got her home I put her directly in the bathtub and was shocked to find sores on her elbows and even on the base of her tail. She also drank her water dish dry (it holds over a quart) and has drank over four bowlfuls (over a gallon) in the past day. This makes me wonder if they took her water away to keep her from walking in it to stop her nails from bleeding before we picked her up. I also noted that we had brought her favorite blanket for her to sleep on but when we arrived, they handed it to me from another room, not from the kennel and it is now covered with short blonde hairs, our dog has long black hair. So I have no idea of what happened to the blanket. Since being home and drinking large quantities of water, she seems to be out of her daze so she may have been dehydrated. Even if the bleeding toenails were from the concrete, don't they have any rubber mats to put down? We were only gone five days and I can't believe what happened to her in that short amount of time. I will never leave any of my pets at Tail Waggers again.
