I attended this middle school from 1996-1999. I cannot attest for how good it is now but it was a great experience when I attended. There are designated "cogs" and within those cogs, you have your different groups, which are grouped by their learning needs. I liked though how once you're in one group, it doesn't mean you're stuck there. There's room for progress. Everything is tailored to your needs. You're not stuck in a group where everything is easy for you or stuck in a group where everything is too advanced. I also loved how foreign education, at least for the highest groups in each cog, was taught early in 7th grade. I only wish this would've been carried over to other groups as well. It really prepares you and gives you a head start on foreign education in high school since I was automatically enrolled in 2nd year French going into high school. Also, the teachers when I attended this school were very good with activities to engage their students in the community. I remember one time we had to make our own picture books to go into a local elementary school to read. Another time, we did a lot of work to compete in Connecticut's History Day. During this time I attended, I believe Cloonan was the leading middle school in the area who won the most awards. If those teachers are still there, and the education has improved even more, then this is a great school to attend.
