City Steam is located in a historic building in downtown Hartford. This is a bar/restaurant. It is also a microbrewery serving its own beers with names like "Naughty Nurse." The food is the usual pub stuff -pizza, sandwiches, steak, fish. Everything I've tried was good. The inside of the restaurant is multi level with lots of stairs and nooks and crannies. Due to the high ceilings and crowds, the atmosphere is very loud. Another feature is the comedy club in the basement level on the weekends.

PROS: Good Food
CONS: Loud

Not really for children. More a casual date place. Not fine food and elegant - but a bar atmosphere. Pizza and drinks would be best thing can get here - rest is overpriced and not very good. Service is slow and not the best. Lots of stairs. Very loud and busy

PROS: pizza and beer/comedy club
CONS: loud, bad food, overpriced food

City Steam is coveniently located in downtown Hartford and is accessible via an enclosed bridge from the parking garage.

The menu is ecclectic with everything from burgers to homemade potato chips to salads to desserts. The selection is quite good. They also have a large beer selection. There are happy hour specials on appetizers during the week.

The three levels are comfortable, if a little loud. There is also the option to sit outside on a patio during good weather. The patio tables can be a bit wobbly, but it is a good location for eating.

The staff is always friendly and timely.
