The Owner/Chef is extremely rude!! Was eager to turn away seating a party of six together....obviously customers don't affect her bottom line...did I say we had confirmed reservations.

I have always heard great things about Arugula, but living an hour away, never seemed to make it. Well, some friends and I finally made the trip up for dinner and it was amazing. It might be my new alltime favorite restaurant. There were 6 of us and we shared 3 appetizers...1 better than the next!! I have a healthy appetite, but somehow could've skipped the entree. But...I ordered dinner and that too was incredible! The chocolate cake for dessert just sent me over the edge. Gotta try it. The owner came out to chat and she was hilarious. I wouldn't have changed a thing.

I had the pleasure of dining at Arugula last night. As a foodie and a culinary student, I have been dissapointed with what Ct has to offer but I think I just found my favorite place.
This place has it all! As a beer enthusiast and a homebrewer, I was shocked and delighted to see the beer selection which included Belgian selections as well as a hard to find Belgian beer which I tried and loved.
We started off with a cheese platter that featured awesome cheeses that included some local selections. Incredible! For my entree I ordered the Duck Confit with truffled potatoes that came with a nice bed of greens with a great dressing. Where else can you find this stuff especially at these great prices? Sorry but you just cant, not in my experience.
The service was quick and the atmosphere was cozy as well as fun. There are no other places that I know of where you can get all this value without the uppity crowd and prices.
This place gets five stars from me. I will be back again and again. Nice work Arugula

We waited a LONG time for our food. We waited one hour for three sandwiches. We were expecting bread and did not get any so we asked and were told that bread would cost extra. One waitress for the entire restaurant. Our waitress was not great, she did not come back, and was clearly overworked. The food was good, but we definitely would not return due to the long wait.

Have been there twice?back to back nights in early September. Found the overall experience so good we went back the following night and the experience was repeated.

The service was attentive, the kitchen flexible and accommodating, they were willing to adjust their signature salad "fattoush" to include some items I requested.

The wine list was very surprising in that the price points were very friendly, almost too good to believe. But the wine was great and I am very picky about wines. There are some hidden gems on the list.

Visiting Hartford again this weekend and made sure to grab a reservation. Its that good and I've eaten at some of the best across the country.

A great place for comfortable and very enjoyable meal with family and friends.

Arugula's food is delicious, whatever you order. The mussels are the best we've ever had, served in a tea kettle with hints of curry and cream of coconut. The ambiance is intimate, warm and energized -- really the perfect place for a luscious meal with friends.

My husband and I are moving to West Hartford soon, so we spent last week house hunting. We quickly found what is now our favorite restaurant, Arugula. We loved it so much we at there 3 times during the week. The food is original, high quality and delicious. It is obvious the staff is proud to work there, and they are very knowledgeable about the menu. Christiane is a fun, outgoing and very talented owner and chef. She smiles from ear to ear when talking about her restaurant and staff. I highly recommend it to anyone who appreciates great food and a great dining experience.

Arugula is a small place with a nice, cozy vibe, great service, amazing food, and an excellent wine list. Their fattoush salad is hands-down the best salad I've ever had in my entire life. It's rare that you find yourself craving a salad, but the only time it's happened to me is with Arugula. They have delicious desserts, too. You can't go wrong with this place.

I Adore Arugula.

Arugula is a rare gem in the convoluted restaurant scene of West Hartford Center. On many occasions I have gone to Arugula by myself because the food is so good I would rather not talk to anyone while I let the flavors dance across my palate. My favorite dish is the appetizer of mussels in a coconut curry broth served with crisp sweet potato fries and an herbed mayonnaise. The dish is served in a giant teapot that keeps the mussels exquisitely warm while allowing you to pour out the aromatic broth into your bowl. The chef offers an exceptionally generous portion of about three-dozen oysters, so I often order this reasonably priced $13 appetizer as a meal. I also love the appetizer of escargot swimming in an herb de provence butter served with slices of brie croustini. In addition to astonishing appetizers, Arugula also boasts an impressive array of gourmet flat breads, exceptionally conceived entrees, and a well thought out wine list to boot. And don??t forget dessert. Their lemon cake with blue berry sauce is perfection.

If you want innovative, yet unpretentious, cuisine, served in generous portions at a reasonable price, then Arugula is the restaurant for you!

We held a bridal shower luncheon there and it was a wonderful success! We met with Chris, the owner, beforehand to pick a menu and she handled the rest from there. We were able to enjoy the event without thinking about anything else. The food was great. The service was great. Everyone had a wonderful time!

It has always been a favorite restaurant of mine, which is why I picked it for the shower. I was not disappointed!

Arugula is a wonderful resturant with fresh and delightful food. My husband and I love the fatoush salad and very flavorful gourmet flatbreads. The entrees for dinner a wonderful too. It is a small resturant with a layed back atmosphere. The food is great, as is the service! It is our favorite place to dine in.

But I believe they are closed on Mondays.

A friend took me to this location on one of my recent trips to the East Coast. I split my time living in Chicago and Boston and traveling to other cities through out the year ,and I spend a great deal of time dining out. The atmosphere of this small Bistro in Hartford's West end is fantastic. Great decor, comfortable seating, wonderful music, and pleasant service. We shared about 6 different plates during our meal and the food, though good, reminds me of home-cooked food more than the refined and skilled cooking you see in many of the Bistro's across the country, especially those found in the larger cities. The wine list was a pleasant surprise. Our Dessert cake was good and reminded me of the pudding frosted desserts made at family holiday meals. I'd certainly recommend a visit and it was a great place to share some time with friends.

We made it a project to try all the restaurants in West Hartford Center over a few month period recently. Arugula won by quite a bit. The decor is comfortable and not pretentious, and the layout sufficiently spacious. The staff was friendly and service was attentive and obviously experienced. What distinguished Arugula most was the food, being light and flavorful and clearly reflecting a refined sense of subtleties in combining flavor and texture. Restaurants in the center cater to different preferences, but if you're looking for the best food and an easy atmosphere, this is the place. The price is not at all expensive for a restaurant of this quality.

My wife and I have a new favorite restaurant, Arugula in Farmington. At lunch this weekend we had the WORLDS BEST SWEET ONION SOUP with our meal. Friendly staff, comfortable atmosphere, and always a creative menu with fabulous results. We always include a stop to Arugula when we entertain out of town guests. Enjoy!

stopped in for lunch last week and went back for dinner that same night.....will be making this a regular stop; the ambience, the decor, the food were all outstanding and the gentleman that served us was extremely knowledgeable about both the food and the wine (the wines they offer both by the glass and bottle are great...a nice variety and match with the food perfectly); the chef/owner came out and stopped by several tables, including ours; Arugula has about 20 tables but would easily fill the place at twice that number....bravo, bravo for this hidden gem!!!

I had the pleasure of going to Arugula for the first time last week and can't wait for my next trip there! The wait staff was attentive and helpful without being pushy. I was there for a casual lunch with a dear friend and we stayed for just about 2 hours. Our waitress, Becca, was so pleasant and helpful when it came to suggestions from the mouth watering menu.

The flatbread was the perfect combination of toppings and crunchy crust. Our salad was huge (definitely a perfect size for sharing) and was incredible. My favorite part of lunch was the amazing lemon cake. I don't know what they do to it, but it is out of this world. It is moist and flavorful, with the perfect coconut frosting. Even the tap water was great - served in wine carafes and icy cold.

Being from Boston, I have the opportunity to eat at many great restaurants. But Arugula has risen to the top of my list. Even with the price of gas, I happily drive my SUV to West Hartford to enjoy this excellent overall dining experience!

Pros: Salad, Food, Dessert, Ambience, Service, Date Spot

My husband and I live in New York ? Arugula is our favorite restaurant in CT! We dine there every time we?re in town visiting family. It?s a small restaurant, so it?s cozy, warm, beautifully decorated, and a great place for a romantic dinner.

The cuisine is magical - You can tell the chef put her heart and soul into this bistro. Must Have?s: the roasted eggplant and wonton napoleon, the grilled calamari, the duck confit and Andouille sausage flat bread, and the Chilean Sea Bass or the Seared Tuna entrees. Bring your appetites however; the portions are quite generous (and priced reasonably)!

The waiters are very helpful in explaining the four-page menu (!) and with offering recommendations; they are also very attentive without being intrusive.

No liquor is served, but there is a wonderfully eclectic wine list (also affordable and approachable). If wine is not your preference, there are many artisanal style beers to choose from as well.

And lastly, the desserts ? ohhhh the desserts to die for ? Three words to remember: CHOCOLATE VOODOO CAKE! I?ve never had anything better!

Go there ? you?ll love it!

We made a reservation a week in advance for a party of six. We arrived on time and were told that our table would not be ready for 15 to 20 minutes. There was no room for us to wait in the restaurant and we were directed (not asked) to leave the restaurant and get a drink at another establishment. I returned 25 minutes later and was told that our table had been given to another party. When I complained, the hostess called the manager from the kitchen. The manager was an older woman who angrily told me it was my fault for not being there "on time." When I pointed out that we had been on time for our original reservation and it was Arugula that wasn't ready, the manager turned on her heal and told me that there was nothing that could be done.

TASTY!!! If you like Mediterranean food, you have to try Arugula. Great Apps, healthy portions and neat interior design. Salads are delicious and pies are large enough for a meal. Arugula has been in WH Center for many years and has never disappointed this diner! Enjoy and try something new.

As you enter this restaurant, you are immediately in the middle of the dining floor. The menu is very unique. My wife is more of a "chicken with gravy" type of diner. She likes it simple and American. This menu did prove to have something for the both of us in the end. She chose the steak and I chose the wild mushroom lasagna.
I would recommed this again for a date night out, since it was so unique. The food was nicely arranged and wonderfully prepared. We were unable to fit in a dessert. The menu has many seafood and uniquely combined items.

Just ate there for the third time and had a FABulous meal. Everything on the menu is so delicious that making a choice is an anxiety-producing experience. The moules et frites are better than any I've ever had (including in Paris and Belgium!). The way Christine assembles flavors is truly inspiring and every single one of my tastebuds gives her a standing ovation. Whatever you choose for dinner, you won't be disappointed - but make sure you save room for dessert; if you leave without eating the bread pudding, the food police will be waiting outide to put you away and throw away the key. Eating this bread pudding is nothing short of a religious experience. Enjoy!

Pros: Great meal, great people who are clearly passionate about feeding people well

Cons: I live in NYC and can't eat here every day of my life!!

There is something extremely special about the food at Arugula. It may be the unique use of spices; it may be the creative menu; it may be the love that the owner, Chris, pours into each dish. But this place is unlike any other. My favorite items are the rosemary polenta appetizer, the israeli couscous (with artichoke hearts, black olives, and peas) and the sea bass with pesto and roasted potatoes in a garlic-tomato compote. There is also an amazingly delicious mixed green salad side dish. The food here is soulful and interesting -- nothing like what one might cook at home, so always worth the trip. I am not a dessert person, but the white chocolate bread pudding is about the best sweet thing I've ever had.

This is my favorite restaurant in WH for a variety of reasons. First off, you HAVE to get the mushroom lasagna. Out of this world! The other menu choices offer a wide variety and are equally as tasty (but remember the mushroom lasagna is foremost - at least in my book). Great selection of wines and the ambiance is a cozy / romantic setting. This is the place if you want an amazing dinner and actually be able to hear the conversation without shouting. It's not a huge restaurant which makes it much more personable & intimate. I would suggest getting reservations. Perfect 10!

Everything on the menu is nothing short of amazing!! The cozy atmosphere, the colors, the food, the whole experience from start to finish is mind boggling (preparation to presentation)! The chicken caesar salad is THE BEST I have ever had and the home made desserts (made by the talented chef herself) are to die for. The only bad thing about Arugulas is that at some point your dining experience ends and you have to leave........but.....the great thing is that you can come back over and over again and have a different dish everytime and ALWAYS be amazed, I mean blown away. How many things can you say that about??!!

This dining experience far outshines anyother in West Hartford Center!

As we walked into the restaurant and surveyed what others were dining on we knew we were in for an amazing meal. We had to make some challenging decisions on what to eat and decided to begin with a salad with raspberry infused cranberries and seasoned almonds which was simply delightful. We went on to share the lamb meatballs with pine nuts and then the flat bread pizza with smoked salmon and cheese. It was an intimate dining experience, the food was very well prepared and we would definitely return for another memorable meal.

Pros: Great atmosphere, location terrific

Cons: Parking is a bit of a challenge but worth it to circle the area.

I was extremely pleased with the food selection and the creativity and flavor presented. I had the filet mignon of tuna and it was ridiculously good. The tuna steak was made as I requested and the accompaniments were extraordinary. The food and wine that we had were just fabulous. However out waiter was a bit flaky and seemed to have forgotten about us a few times. For dessert we had the chocolate voodoo cake which was extremely rich and quite a healthy helping. I really enjoyed our time at Arugula and would highly recommend it to anyone!

While visiting friends in W. Hartford, our hosts insisted we go to Arugula for their desserts. The plan (light on food to share, load up on desserts) worked well - we got 3 appetizers, 1 entree, a bottle of red wine & 4 desserts for 5 people (~$125 incl tax/tip) & we were happily stuffed! The lamb kebobs w/ pita, goat cheese, veggies was yummy, as was the salad (something. w/ "P"), but my favorite was the mussels served w/ sweet potato fries & saffron dipping sauce. I've always loved SPF w/ soy sauce, ketchup, sour cream, but the saffron flavor was esp savory! The duck confit & sausage flatbread was a great choice too - w/o it I probably would've been hungry. Desserts - Carmelized pear bread pudding was my favorite - warm, good texture, not too mushy. I didn't think I wanted to get the Affogato (excellent vanilla ice cream, shot of expresso) was my 2nd fave. Lemon curd coconut cake was ok. If you love rich chocolate desserts (I don't), get the chocolate pate - it's pure death by chocolate. I recommend this place!

Moving to West Hartford 4 years ago, we were delighted to find this wonderful restaurant. The blend of fresh ingredients served up in the most innovative recipes has made this a special place among the host of ordinary establishments that abound. The clam chowder is the best we have had anywhere. From the exotic middle eastern fare, to the flatbreads and salads, there is something for everyone. Even the hamburger has been elevated to the status of gourmet - you'll have trouble branching out once you have tried this one! We almost never fail to top off our meal with the delicious espresso brownie served with black raspberry gelato. The service is always prompt and friendly, the ambiance is warm and inviting with a touch of elegance. Saturdays often find us waiting outside the front door for our favorite restaurant to open! Oh, did i mention the brunch?

I ate at your restaurant this evening for the first time and I must say, I was very impressed. The food was spectacular and the promt efficient manner in which the waiter attended to us was a delight after a very difficult week.

My husband and I ordered the fillet of tuna and the sea bass while our guest ordered the two bistro steaks. The window seat gave us a view of the busy street. Thank you.
I would like to thank you and your staff for a wonderful dining experience. After dining at other establishments in the West Hartford area, it's a pleasure to see such professionalism in your staff, great food coupled with a relaxing dining experience. I commend you and your staff.

The chocolate pate and port was the icing on the cake.

Thank you again for making the evening memorable.

Best Regards,
A Satisfied Customer

Arugula is our favorite! I spent my birthday there with 13 friends and family and it couldn't have been nicer if it was my dining room at home. Lovely ambience, nice music, great service, wonderful food and something for everyone (even my picky vegetarian brother). Arugula is the reason I go to West Hartford - it is a destination. We travel 45 minutes as often as we can to eat there. Try to wonton napolean or the yummy flat breads! You'll keep coming back...I have no doubt.

This place is a little slice of the Mediterranean located right in West Hartford Center. The owner Chris Gehami and her staff make you feel most welcome to coast through this flavorful, sunny food experience. Their warm roasted eggplant and wonton napoleon is wonderful - tossed with sweet red onions, tomatoes, feta, watercress and tahini in a light curry viniagrette is a great appeteizer to start your food experience.
