Yuck! Dirty, filthy bathrooms. Long wait. Old-fashioned atmosphere and menu. I don't know what they are trying to do here. Institutional food, very poor service, smelly dining room. The bathroom made me almost sick. There is nothing to recommend about this place.

Our party of eight made reservations in hopes of having a nice dining experience. Unfortunately, it was not to be done at the Cottage Restaurant. We were seated in the dining room and waited an hour for our drinks and appetizers. Let's just say that the appetizers were not good. Then, we told that they had made a mistake with our reservations and we had to move immediately. They proceeded to cram us into the bar area with two tables around a pole. Another half an hour passed and we never ordered our entree so we requested our check. The waitress returned with the owner's son who hovered over us and tried to intimidate us into staying. We paid the exorbinate bill and left. This is the only time that I have ever walked out of a restaurant before having my meal; however, this time it was warranted. There are too many quality restaurants in the area which appreciate their customers to waste your hard earned money at this establishment.

The dining experience at The Cottage is always pleasant, the food is fabulous and I love the fact that the chef/owner consistently changes the menu to reflect waht is in season. You have to try the Funnybone cake for dessert! The owners, Dorothy, Patty, and David treat the customers like family. Portions are generous for the price.

Their food is excellent - very gourmet and nice sized portions. Price is reasonable. The staff is excellent with the exception of the owner's son. He is rude and obnoxious and I'm not sure why she puts up with his attitude.

The food and service is top notch for this small business that is located in Plainville. It is filled with excellent waitstaff and the Owner/Chef is one of the best in the area. Prices are a bit on the high side, but we can thank George Bush for that part with the rising cost in fuel oil.

This is not a diner type place that you come in get a quick meal and leave. There is no rushing and you will absolutely enjoy yourself the whole time you are there. Try the Escargot, it is absolutely the best.

PROS: Quaint atmosphere with casual dress
CONS:
