I think this place can be hit or miss....sometimes it seems I get dried out cakes-maybe it's because they make in advance and by the time I serve it it's not super fresh? I also feel like it depends on who makes your cake. This young girl made my child's birthday cake and part of the cake had black icing on it (not pretty to have any cake with black icing) but it literally stained everything and every one. I thought they were great with service but it wasn't the best tasting cake i'd ever had. And ask for no black icing!!! seriously I was surprised at how easily it could get on everything

I stopped by Di Mare's Pastry shop and bought a variety of the small cake pieces. When I got home and served the pastries to my guests, I was embarassed and disappointed but mostly GROSSED OUT by the taste of the pastries: STALE, OLD AND SOUR!!! I went back to the store and returned the stale pastries, the girl working there agreed with me that the cakes were old but rudly refused to refund me the money!!!! I was very upset and made her cough up the money!
I'm never going back there again!

I ordered cakes for my daughter's birthday parties for several years in a row. Beautiful, to the letter, and delicious. The last time I ordered (in Riverside) the woman on the phone was rude and nasty. I thanked her for her time anyway, then called Stamford. I explained that Riverside said they didn't have the time to make my cake, and the woman on the phone took care of everything for me AND told me to pick it up in Riverside for my convenience. The cake was delish, of course, but it wasn't designed the way I wanted it. I haven't ordered from there since.

My name is Marvin Speight of Stamford CT, I was visiting the shop yesterday 05/06/09 with a friend who was having a cake done for her baby shower. The customer service was excellent and I know that the cakes are great! I was so happy that they make novelty cakes. I don't have to taste the cakes to know that they are delicious, because the customer service that they give is just as good.

This bakery has been here for many years and is very popular. They make a terrific italian rum cake and pastries. Everything is always fresh and the place is filled with a wide selection of goodies.
I highly recommend it.

Love there Cakes...If you don't see what you like they can make up

At the very last minute the class operation jumped in a made, for my daughter's wedding, the most amazing cake she and I could have hoped for. I had the privilege of speaking with Maria at the Stamford location...what a wonderful woman. The cake looked amazing however, the taste is what counts, right? It was the most wonderful cake we have ever eaten..Dimare Pastry Shop is our bakery of choice from now on. Incidentially, we live in Stratford...I would drive many miles to do business with this operation. The venetian table was also amazing.Dimare Pastry Shop THANK YOU!!!

I agree with the first reviewer that this place has good cookies and pastries but I love the cakes they make here more! My parents would order my birthday cake here since I was a little kid. For awhile, we stopped and ordered from places like Baskin Robbins instead but I find myself preferring Dimare's cakes instead.

This is a really good bakery! Go in and ask for advice on a custom cake and you will treated with respect and professionalism. Buy cookies by the piece or by the pound. Everything they sell is fresh baked and delicious. You really can't go wrong here! Not only that, but they are priced very fairly!
