I love these doctors and nurses and loved their facility in Stratford, but had to leave when my son was diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum and we had insurance issue and took on Husky. We were disappointed then. Not realizing it was the same

I have been using Pedi-Care since 1990. My children are now 19 and 20. I'm so sad to have to find a new doctor because of their ages. I always felt this was the best group of Doctors in every aspect that any parent would ever want. If anyone is trying to decide what pediatric group to choose, I highly recommend Pedi-Care.

I too am VERY surprised about the comment on the office staff. I have been with this group since the beginning of their practice. I have never had any issues- actually just the opposite. I have always been greeted with happy and professional people even when the waiting room is hopping.
I am there quite often with a child with chronic disease, and also have an adult son who was seen annually. I have commented that I wish I can find the adult version of this group for my husband and I to use.

I was shocked to see these negative comments. I have been going to Pedi Care for 15 years and am happy there. The doctors and staff have always been very pleasant and helpful. I have seen all the doctors in the practice but especially like Dr. Mongillo and Dr. Laugel the best! My son had behavoir and some physical issues and Dr. Laugel was wonderful with communicating with his school. I have two children who go to this office.

I agree about the office staff. I began going to this practice about 2 1/2 years ago and i am not happy with the office staff at all. They are rude, and i have found them to be unhelpful, unfriendly, and at times very sarcastic. They actually made a big deal because my son who has autism took more than one sticker and made a big deal about it. I am talking 3 stickers.

I also agree that Dr. Benson does not have a good bed side manner.

I would like to add that the other doctors are very friendly. I really like Dr. Johnson.

I must also agree how upsetting it must me for Dr Benson to read what has been written.
I will also say that as a parent if you do not express your opinion to the Dr and let him defend him self to you persnally and privately. It is then that you can make your decissions. Whos to say the parent wasnt the easyone to deal with.
I have had several visits with my son to all in the office. Dr. Benson is ALWAYS very understading. I think they must be thinking of someone else. I could never imagine him being remotley close to how he is being described.
I will also add that the office staff has never ever been anything but helpful and ready to answer any question at any time. And they are very busy and still take the time.
I always recommend the office to all parents and I will say that I have personallly had 4 people I know change to Pedi Care.

I have been taking my two children here for the past four years. My husband and I love Dr. Mongillo. He is compassionate, competent and never rushes you out the door. He takes time to answer questions and is great with the kids. We have seen all the docs besides Dr. Nick and have no complaints. I would recommend the practice.

I am an attorney practicing in medical malpractice in Connecticut, and I believe this practice has exceptionally qualified, thorough, thoughtful, kind, and courteous physicians sensitive to both parental and patient needs. My children have seen all the docs, and I have no complaints. Also, the staff has always been courteous and responsive. It is important to remember as parents that while you cannot leave your own judgment at the door, these doctors are medical professionals whose focus is to rely on proven medicine. You may disagree with their advice, but realize that the advice is solid and based on a wealth of evidence, knowledge, training, and experience. If you choose not to follow the advice, or are making decisions they believe inconsistent with this evidence, knowledge, training and experience, they will tell you that you are wrong. That is their job and why they are so trustworthy. Caring for your children is serious business, and I am sure they know this.

I have been going to Pedi-Care for 6 years and love the Drs and Nurses, they are great, the Office staff is very bad, its ruining the reputation for the office it self. They are very rude and unprofessional and the way one talks to moms and dads on the phone and the way she treats patients when they come in should be replaced. I heard the office lost two family's because of this one person. Im deciding on changing pedi's due to this women too, Dr Laugel has been told several times but every time I go there she is still treating people poorly. I wish they would do something about her !

In all our visits to Pedi-care (We have 3 boys, 2 special-needs, we are there a fair amount!)not once have we been dispointed. All the doctors ( and we seen each of them) and nurses have tended to my children with sterling care and have always listened to my concerns.

Over the years we have spent a lot of time visiting multiple specialists, physicians, lab techs and others in the medical field, so I feel I can say with confidence that this is a solid, reliable and caring practice. It is a great comfort to have them as our children's health providers.

My wife and I have visited this office very often with our two young sons. I have always been very satisfied with the service received, regardless of doctors seen (and we have seen them all!) I highly recommend them all. The office staff have been nothing but courteous at all times. There is nothing negative to say about this office.

We have been going to Pedicare for over 10 years. My girls were afraid to have a male doctor but Dr. Benson put them at ease and now when we go, they are truly disappointed if they do not get Dr. Benson - whom they refer to as the funny doctor. I was really surprised to see any bad reviews of him. He always takes time to talk to the kids and offer good advice.

We have been at Pedicare since Aug 2006 when my son was born. Dr. benson was the doctor we met while we were interviewing pediatricians and we liked him right away.

I have nothing but wonderful things to say about ALL the doctors, most of all Dr. Benson who is my son's primary doctor and whom we have seen countless times over the last two years (my son is prone to ear infections and we have made several trips). He is absolutely patient and kind and in fact my son does the best with him because he talks to the baby and tries to entertain him before examining him. He is an awesome doctor!

The nurses and staff are available to answer our questions (especially as first time parents) although sometimes they appear very busy and do not have as much time as I would like.

My son has falls ill quite a lot, being prone to ear infections and in fulltime daycare, and whenever he has been really ill, we have got an appointment at short notice. I would totally, totally recomend this practice.

The people that left bad reviews for Dr. Benson can think what they want. Dr. Benson saved my son's life six years ago. I brought Jesse to the office for bad stomach cramps and he told me to drive directly to the hospital, do not even stop at home, because he thought it was his appendix. When we got to the hospital we were in the waiting room for what felt like forever. I called Dr. Benson for help because Jesse was in a lot of pain and he called his connections at the hospital and they rushed my son in right away to the annoyance of the admitance staff. Dr. Benson was correct with his diagnosis. Jesse's appendix had ruptured and he was in the hospital for 9 days with many different IV antibiotics and a large open drain in his abdomen. If it weren't for Dr. Benson I probably would have taken him home and the toxins from his ruptured appendix would have killed him. Dr. Benson's medical knowledge saved my son, not a bed-side manner. Thank you Dr. Benson.

We joined Pedi-Care when my son was 9 months old. We had a bad experience with our first pedi and made the change based on recomendations and meeting with Dr. Mongillo. I have to say that we have been so lucky to have our son in the care of Pedi-Care. The Dr's have been more than accomidating with all the calls and the nurses are usually very quick to call back to answer the question on whether we need to come in or not.

I also have to say that I was shocked to read the negatives about Dr. Benson. Although we joined the practice after meeting Dr. Mongillo, we have seen Dr. Benson MANY MANY times since then. I can say that he has been absolutely wonderful with my son and my husband and I. I have many times come in for a sick visit and asked the Dr. questions off topic re: discipline, odd behavior etc and he always has the extra time to talk with me and share an experience. I especially like when he tells me about his daughter who is just a little older than my son and reminds me that this is all normal behavior.

After reading the comments and Dr. Benson's letter I felt compelled to respond and share my very positive experience with him and the entire staff. I am so pleased to be using them! The quality of care and the dedication to their craft should be commended!

Searching the internet for your own business or name can reveal many things. Today I found a few reviews of our office and of myself as a person, which greatly trouble me as an individual.

Most of us encounter many people during our lives, both personally and professionally, in many walks of life.

Doctors have the rare privilege of being granted an immediate close relationship with a person and their families.

Even though I have seen thousands of patients through my 12 year career, to discover that a few of them were so upset that they felt that they must broadcast their negative opinions to the world via the internet bothers me to no end.

I personally strive to treat every child with the care and compassion I give to my own child. (I have a terrific daughter, born in 2003). To find that I have failed in that goal, with even one patient, gives me great pause and triggers internal reflection, self- analysis and prayerful soul searching.

I would humbly request, that anyone posting any review, consider giving those being reviewed the opportunity to directly know your thoughts.

Then we can reinforce the things we are doing right.

And we might learn the things we are doing unsatisfactorily, make changes, and pursue a better course in the future.

I offer my sincere apologies to the patients and parents who have been unsatisfied with my care.

Know that your opinions are accepted humbly, with determination for improvement.

For those who might be reviewing this site looking for an office to call your child??s medical home, I encourage you to consider the silent majority of satisfied patients I continue to see every day since I joined this office in 2001.

With all sincerity,

Dr. Kevin Benson

Have been going to pedi-care since my daughter was born she is now 12. I have always been very happy with the level of care at the practice until Dr. Benson came to the pratice. Although he appears to be a good Dr. technically his people skills leave something to be
desired. My child's first appointment with him left me in tears. He was rude and insensitive and it is my belief that is either incapable of dealing with children that have developmental issues or some kind of personal problem with such children. The man at the very least should go back to school because he was out when they were going over bed side manners. Needless to say my child only sees him as an absolute last resort.

I just wanted to praise the staff, both office, nurses, assistants and doctors of this practice. I find them to be compassionate to my concerns, responsive to my children's needs as well as willing to clarify things to me. The doctors are all very helpful and thorough and happy to answer my questions. Sometimes my child has needed more time with the doctor and they happily get me a follow-up appointment ASAP. I am happy to give good feedback about this practice.

PROS: They are open 9am to 9pm M-F and Open weekends too!!!

While we love the Pedi's and nurses at this practice. The office staff seems to be somewhat lacking. The Dr's are all very professional and knowledgeable (some more than others) but the office staff seems to be lacking in the personality department (Not all just some). I will not change pedi's because I simply LOVE the dr's and nurses (and that's what's most important for my kids) but the office staff just seems to need a refresher course on the "other" patient...the neurotic mom, first time dad/mom or worried grandma....they have to remember that when they pick up the phone to a worried mommy who's child is ill.....be patient, be kind and be a bit more empathetic...as opposed to acting annoyed as if we've just disturbed you during dinner or something...... Also, while they do have the the well/sick waiting rooms separated, you must exit through the sick waiting room to leave the facility and you must remain in the sick room to give your co-pay, etc. That irritates me since you do all you can to keep your child healthy and then they potentially get ill from going to the drs through the sick waiting room !!

PROS: Accept most ins carriers, knowledgable drs, great nurses
CONS: Office Staff - Sick Well Waiting Rooms
