Long (sometimes very long) lines, occasionally professional staff. The issue I have with Luv My Pet is this: You are not supposed to inject a cat in the scruff (behind the neck). This is common veterinary practice since 1997 (and widely accepted:

http://www.catinfo.org/?link=vaccines

This can lead to tumors. Unfortunately based on some of the responses in this thread, the LuvMy Pet staff doesn't seem to have a lot of compassion for people who have lost pets due to this practice, or wants to blame the pet owner. Truth is the people who administer the vaccines aren't really Vets. This is how they save money. Imagine going to a doctor and being treated by a nurse, for instance. That's why vaccines are half to 2/3 cheaper than what you'd pay at the Vet. You're getting third world service inside of a place (petco usually) you would normally trust. And because you signed off on the back, guess what: you will foot the bill when your cat comes back dead or sick as a result of their malpractice.

I just want to say one thing to the employees that are claiming they were trained by staff to be "Vet Techs", YOU ARE NOT A VET TECH! My sister went to an actual college and received and A.S. degree to specifically be a Vet Tech AND took the state board licensing test. Which is what REAL vet techs have A LICENSE. It is hard work, it's like getting an A.S. degree in nursing for people. SO another unlicensed member of the staff training someone else means less than nothing. And any Vet who actually got in to a Vet school in the U.S. will most likely not be working for this place. I don't want the vet that had to go to a remote island like St. Kitz or South America to be accepted into Veterinary School. Thank-You everyone for these reviews , I'm sorry for your pain. I will be taking Lola to my vet , it's worth the money and I will just have to cut corners to save money on something else.

Customers line up for service. On a recent visit to get my dog shots a customer came in and tried to cut to the head of the line. When I told her I wouldn't let her go ahead of me she got in my face, let her dog jump on me and hit me with the clipboard they give out. The customer behind me spoke up and told her to stop. The associate watched the whole thing and did nothing to help me at all.

Less expensive but not worth the hassle

Since this is a Franchise I will go ahead and post my complaint here. Normally there is a very nice compassionate man giving shots at this particular location in Maryland and that is why I haven't mentioned the city but not today. The Tyrant was in the LUV MY PET VAN and he was full of meanness. As I was Stepping up towards the van today in Md with a rescue cat in a crate the first thing I heard was a grown man complaining continually about how they were not suppose to take anymore pets and it was 1:00. If you are there before one you can check your pet in for shots. I was there before 1:00 and checked in however I did wait aside since everyone else had big dogs and I had a cat that was scared. The person giving the shots was Mr Wyatt and this man showed no compassion to humane or animals the time we were there. I chose to opt out on allowing him to touch my cat, not that he was lifting a hand or showing a sign he was going to anyway but I have never seen a grown man in the mission behave in this mannner. It is obvious it is not a mission and he is there for the money. There are other jobs that may fill his day better but I believe the animals may be in danger with this man. He said there was something wrong with me because I valued these pets as my family.Really? By the time I got to my van my pressure was up. He get a a E-. I later was told it was his first day here from Atlanta GA. That would make since but we don't need a non compassionate person working with our pets. No thank you. He will never be able to keep up with the ethics and pace in this city. It is a shame for people like me that rescue and low income pet owners that we feel be have to possibly put up with a lack of standards from people like this. Think long and hard before you let this man touch your pet.

I give this business one star because I have to. If it were up to me, it would get none. I have read the reviews that have been posted, and have to ask my self: What took you guys so long to comment? I use to work for this company. I was planning to stay out of this, but when an employee of LUV MY PET, reached further into my private life, yet again, I figured I comment.
It started when I was working for them. The whole company is made up of bottom feeders. Because of medical problems I was put as a cashier. Now I do not have the greatest record for being a cashier, my bags were wrong more than right, but I gave it a try.
I worked there for about a year, and I noticed that I didn't quite fit in. My first clue was when I started to spend my lunch breaks alone in the van. I am on a fixed budget and 12-20 weekly for meals just wasn't there. Then the big explosion came.
There was a day, I believe in Manchester, where I put my bag in the drawer, and made the mistake of walking 5 feet from the table. I never let the table out of my site, and could get to the $$ bag quickly if I had to.
Remember I said I wasn't the greatest as a cashier? Well, maybe the counts weren't there, but on reconcile I knew where I stood. That day my bags looked good. The next day I got a call from Maureen. I was told 50 dollars was missing. When I reconciled it wasn't that much, maybe 2 dollars.I am sure. Yes I am calling Maureen a liar.
I was fired. I had offered to goto my personal bank account and replace the 50. Little did I realize that while my heart was in the right place, it also could be seen as an admit of guilt. I had a person pay me for a loan at that same time, and with the loan payment on the table, which was over 10X the missing 50, would I need her $$?
Not only was I fired, Maureen had me fired from my second job as well(It was closely related to the LUV MY PET position). To date I have not been able to re enter this field. I was awarded unemployment because the story Maureen told unemployment didn't match the dismissal form I was given.
But it didn't end there. I had a solid repore with my vet, until a LUV MY PET person came to work for them. Now the relationship is no more.
Do yourselves a favor- LUV MY PET is no good for you or your pet. I could go on all day about the goings on there, the workers and maureen (all with psych problems) and the drinking and drugs they openly brag about. Maureen Baker is the bottom of all bottom feeders and should be avoided at all costs. And before I get a email from Maureen telling me this post is "sour grapes", I want you to know I am glad I am out of there.I have been behind the scenes and the people at LUV MY PET do not LUV YOUR PET- they LUV the cash.

Cold Business. You may save money, but their attitude problem is priceless. They do not care about your pet or you. Disorganized and unprofessional.

I want to shed some light at what it takes to be a pet owner and some of the comments I have been reading. It doesn't matter what anyone tells you, pets cost money! Vet bills are expensive and either you pay or watch your pet suffer. Pets that never see a vet for illness or injury are very lucky.
I have to say that Luv My Pet may not be for everyone, but it is there for those who are frugal or have pets that are healthy with no previous health issues. The problem is that a lot of illnesses go unnoticed by owners and they take them to be vaccinated when they should be taken for an exam which is what should be done annually anyway. Vaccine reactions are NOT due to a bad batch of vaccines. Being in the veterinary field for 7 years this is absolutely true. If you get a bad vaccine it means it won't protect your pet properly. Every pet is different. A pet can have the same vaccine for years then suddenly react to it. It could happen at Luv My Pet, a full service vets office, or giving shots your self. Then vaccines that were given from Luv My Pet and your pet had an allergic reaction, would have had the same exact reaction if you had taken them to a full service clinic. Absolutely true. Some vets use more expensive vaccines that are for more sensitive immune responses and you will pay for those. Most vets and clinics however use the same brand vaccines that Luv My Pet uses. The largest vaccine manufacturer in the country. Fort Dodge.
I have to say that YES, not all employees are very good at their jobs yet any industry has people like that. They do not take pride in their work. I think it sucks some of you had bad customer service. Another thing to think about is that Veterinarians work with animals and not people. Some are just not people people.
Another comment I read was that the pet had gotten a tumor from one of the vaccines. It wasn't from the vaccine itself it was from the injection site. This could happen with any kind of injection it just happens to be more common on certain areas of the body. Therefore the blame is on the vaccine which is more commonly the area they give the rabies vaccine.
I understand the folks that just don't want to use the service anymore because of the experience they had or the bad memories of your pets having gotten ill in a sense.
I had rescued a Devon Rex cat from a Devon Rex rescue years ago. Wonderful cat. I was required to have the cat spayed the next day after I paid for her and took her home. A couple days after the spay she started acting weird and I took her to a vet. She ended up on IV fluids because she became dehydrated and just kept going down hill. She ended up dying and brought back by the shock paddles or whatever they do. She was suffering and ended up being put down. They found out she had FIP. It was the spay surgery that threw he body over the edge. Without it she could have lived years without symptoms. I paid out $600 for a rescue cat that I had for 2 weeks and was not told she could have this illness. The first thing out of my mouth was that I would never get a cat from a rescue again.
This is my experience that comes to mind when folks blame a company for their pets being allergic to a vaccine. If a pet is allergic the pet is allergic. Actually on the back to the form you sign states specifically that if your pet is allergic or has had a reaction before, they will not be able to service the pet. Most owners don't know because it has not arose yet. So the blame is misplaced. You can't know everything about your pets health or we would all be great Veterinarians. You have to do the best you can and the right thing for your pets health. It's okay to never go back if you wish. But they do provide a wonderful service to the majority of pet owners. Like one post stated. Each area sees and vaccinates anywhere from 200 to 1000 pets every weekend. That's a lot! And the reaction rate is less than 1%.
The sad thing is that someone's pet has to fall in that range.

Good luck on your pets future health for those that have more sensitive little pet bodies. They are just as important as any other. And for those that have lost their pets due to reactions or illness, just remember the joy they brought to your lives. They will not be forgotten.

Way to go... the person is upset over the loss of her cat, so whatever you do don't offer any kind words for her.
You guys are the biggest CSR idiots yet. I would NEVER use you.

Some things make the vet worth it. LUV MY pet is a great example of this.

In response to Mel D.

Actually, you ARE informed. The consent waivers you sign on the back of your paperwork specifically mention the possibility of injection-site sarcomas with cats getting vaccinated, with ANY vaccine used. I know this because I took the time to READ what I was AGREEING to. I usually go to the Shrewsbury MA location, too, and have rarely found the staff anything but helpful. I had my first cat visit recently, and the girl who did my paperwork was able to answer my questions about the possibility of sarcomas, and made sure I understood what it meant.

i have 2 cats. i found it simple convenient and low cost to bring my cats to Petco for vaccinations. They were polite and speedy. I have been doing this for several years. Yesterday my 8 year old died of the worst cancer a cat could get, which evidently began on the day the cat was vaccinated with that multi shot and in the very site. yes i've read all the prior reviews. yes I guess buyer beware. ....had I been told this could happen, which I never was...I would have gone to the vet. I absolutely refuse to go there again. for all of you that things are just fine, remember they were for us too....for years...This is so unfair to the pet and we are all heartbroken here!!

The only reason I am giving this company one star is because the system requires it.
One star is generous.

After waiting for over 2 hours in the Waterford location, I finally got my animals shots and prepared to leave. My cat foaming at the mouth, changed my plans.

I asked the "staffer" for help and was told to wait. MY cat looked like he was getting worse by the second. After an additional 15 minutes I rushed the cat to the nearest drug store and fed him some benedryl. I did this while my vet was on the cell phone. This bought enough time for my cat to get to the vet.

This all happened with NO HELP FROM THE VET OR THE LUV MY PET STAFF.

Never again. The cat is fine thanks to the help of my vet, not the vet that gave the shots. IT was an allergy to the shot recieved.

I have read the posts here and I am positive the good comments are from staffers, not from the public.

Never again

Last week I decided to "save" a few dollars by taking my 6 yr old cat to Petco for her annual vaccines. She became lethargic, stopped eating & drinking within a couple of days. With a temp of 105.9 I rushed her to the vet. After numerous tests they began questioning me about vaccinations. I was told she has a severe reaction to what is most likely a bad batch of a vaccine! My idea to save money has cost me ovet $2000 & my cat may not even recover! Has this business returned my calls,NO!!! Never again will I use their clinics!

I took my HEALTHY 1.5 year great dane for vaccines March 27, 2011 in Jacksonville, FL FL DBPR was there and that should have been my sign! I was not informed of possible side effects prior to shots. Bottom line: within 5 days my dane started paralysis in back left leg; 7 days consumed the right and was moving to the front legs and he had dropped 12 pounds! Specialist ran any/all test and put on steroids to counteract the vaccines. Bottome line: the steroids saved his life! Within 7 days on heavy doses he was running again! Luv My Pet: would not send me written info on the manufacturer/lot#/ date of expiration of vaccines or if recalled. Rude people just kept asking if I had read the back of the bill that stated I should have given dimetapp and called them! Like I knew his sudden medical isues were related to the vccines -- tht's why I was asking for information to be able to give to the specialist! Would not let me talk with mgmt! I finally got mgmt but was told she was off that day and would call with requested info --- 7 days latter = no response! I sent an email today and am now waiting to see if they will respond. $6,000 latter I have my dog and I am grateful but I am angry at Love My Pets --- never again!!!!! DO NOT USE THEM ----- SAVE YOUR PET!

I have been reading these now for a while. This stuff is better than the Bold and the Beautiful.
1st-With regard to the Sarah S. posting(s)- WOW, what else is there? What do you care who says what? You say you've been there for 4 years-your work history should speak for itself.
2nd- The worker who was suppose to sleep with the bosses son- is she still there? She shouldn't be. Neither should that boss, for letting his/her son run in that fashion. If they are, why?Known scandal in a company can't be good for business Any body feel the need to act professional? anybody? This is a business, Public opinion does matter.
3rd- In multiple posts I see where the staff does not care about the human clients, just the animals. Really? Animals don't pay money. Animals don't make the decision to come to Petco and spend money, w/your company. Without the human public there are no animals and there is no income. You want respect? Respect is earned, it is not a given. You best remember that.

I used LUV MY PET a couple of times in Enfield, but after reading the posts from "staff", I think I will start going to Dakin. I don't think I really like the idea of a staff that thinks so little of me, as a pet owner, and makes mistakes they won't accept.

Bye Bye drama of LUV MY PET

First and Foremost this is the real Sarah S who does work at Luv My Pet. That other person who wrote that it was me is a lyer and obviously wants to try to get me fired. I have been working here for almost four years or a little longer. I for one would never put down this company as in the fact of the matter:
1. I was properly trained and even one of the vets helped train me as a tech.
2. People come and go not all people can hack doing the job we do.
3. There is only so much people can put up with from customers. I'm sorry for the animals who have reactions and do have other complications, however we are trained to ask. If customers do not tell us about previous reactions WE ARE NOT MIND READERS how are we suppose to know.
4. As for customers. We do not do the job for the customers. I personally do my job which I LOVE for the pets. I care for the pets and with some people it's hard to deal with them and you try and try and try and you just can't get through to them.
5. Management is management that's all I have to say if you have had problems with them, regardless what state you are from, don't take it out on us workers, because we do do our job and we are trained properly.
6. .I have seen many people come and go because they can't deal with the pressure of how much our job actually matters and how much time and effort we put into everything. We load and unload. We ask the vet questions if we are unsure or the person who is training us. Or we even stay and wait if there is a reaction to a shot when a phone call comes in. We love the animals. If people who work here didn't love the animals then they honestly couldn't do what we do and deal with what we deal with.
7. I'm really sorry and I feel bad for the animals who have owners that have hit them in line or throw them or put muzzles on them when they would not stop barking. If and animal barks it doesn't always mean it is going to rip someones head off it could mean it wants to play or it is excited.
8. Also, if your animal is not friendly do not blame it on us! We do not have any control on how you raiswe you animal, because if we did then some owners who have animals wouldn't be allowed to have them. IE: Abusers.
9. We work our butts off and honestly people who put us down have had experiences with people who obviously don't care. I'm very sorry that people had to deal with that, but do not put all the employees down who actually love what they do. Some of the people are actually going to school for this profession. I am not, however that doesn't make me not love my job. I LOVE ANIMALS. I don't know how many times I have to say this! If you don't love animals then don't apply for the job. Some people just can't cut it that doesn't mean all of us are horrible.
10. Also, customers should never get into our faces we are human beings and we deserve respect if your doing that to us as people, it makes me wonder how you really treatg your own pets.
I'm sorry if this bugs anyone, but the truth hurts and also I want that other Sarah S post taken down, because that is not me and people trying to pretend to be other people are pathetic!

I am on my 6th email to get my years supply of heartworm meds that I already paid for. The people in my state, are total airheads and don't read my emails. Sometime they say we don't have you in the system (bassically calling me a liar) then they say it was shipping, and it was, but only 6 months. Been on hold now 58 minutes, I was caller #2 when I called, yeah 58 mintues ago. I will never never go back to them. Will go to Pet Supermarket, they give you the meds on the spot.

That works - call the client base idiots...that will get the money rolling in!!
The classless group in Southington is just that-CLASSLESS!! They have no clue what they are doing and would rather blame everyone else then accept the blame for the problems they cause.

And another thing, it is logical for a person with no knowledge in an area to seek out an expert for advice. You make yourselves out to be the experts, in reality you know nothing except what your greedy manager tells you, and the animal ends up being the one that suffers.

Like I said- keep calling the client base names--real smart!

First of all I would like to say that I had a great experience at the Laurel location in MD. The only bad thing I would say about it is the long wait in line. Well now I would like to say that I honestly do not agree with some of these reviews that are posted. And trust me when I say that I have been waiting in line to hear and see how ignorant some of these pet owner are. If you honestly LOVE your pet you would do research and educate yourselves. Cause I love my dogs and I research almost everything about them, that way I know exactly what my pet need to stay healthy and strong. I just find it funny when I'm reading all these reviews about Luv My Pet employees, and how there ignorant and uneducated they are, but It's the pet owners. So please before you start to point fingers at everyone else maybe YOU should start doing research on your pets!

This company is a f**king joke anyone with any sort of common sense would realize that these people are not licensed, do not have any sort of degree, and abuse animals. I would never even consider taking my animal here, I stopped in the CT branch w/o my dog to see what it was like these people are crackheads!

Please if you have a pet, take them to a LEGIT vet. office and not this backdoor crackden.

Luv My Pet consist of employees with no licensing, work history/experience, and even general experience. The staff college students and young adults that irresponsibly hang out partying the night before and come to work with attitudes.

PROBLEMS:
Unnecessary vaccinations
overcharging
no training
no work history many employees lack basic math skills and are illiterate
Many employees are unprofessional
The employees are givng no training(prior to being given vaccinations to inject into your pet
The employees are young and irresponsible adult that have criminal records and poor driving history (as the drivers are usually substance abusing individuals on probation or worst)
If your dog has an allergic reaction, they offer you no assistance (because they are gone)
The pets are given wrong vaccinations due to the employees erroneous paperwork completion
The vaccinations are not properly cooled (as req by law)
The LMP van are unsanitary and trash riddled

JUST SAY NO TO LUV MY PET -- IF YOU LOVE YOUR PET
Conditions reported and no action was taken by Luv My Pet.

LMP is not a scam. I was an employee and for the money, you are saving for vaccines it is a good service. No LMP employee receives kickbacks from clinics. We work 12 hour days and travel long miles to provide LOW COST vaccines and services toyour pet. You ignorant pet owners make it difficult on yourselves. Most of our customers do not want to spend the money (discounted) services offered. lmp is legit.

I work at Petco in Massachusetts and we have vaccination clinics every Saturday through Luv My Pet. Yesterday, 2 young puppies (one 13 weeks old and the other 17 weeks old) had severe allergic reactions to the 6-in-1 combo vaccine. Immediately after the vaccination one puppy started vomiting, went into seizures, and her face and paws swelled up. she had to be given a anithistamine injection, and put on an IV. 20 minutes later she was still having seizures. The other puppy was immediately taken to the emergency room due to shock and cardiac complications. Unfortunately I don't think he lived. I don't know what planet these vets from this company are from, but any semi-intelligent person would know that to give any puppy under the age of 6 months a 6-in-one combo vaccine is crazy! Not only a complete bombardment of the immune system, but this proves these people have no sense of conscience whatsoever. All they are concerned with is taking your money, even at the expense of your pet's life! Did you know that vaccinations are the leading cause of death in dogs and cats in the U.S.today? That is not an opinion, it's a fact. When it comes to vaccines, do your homework people. And don't trust that ANY veteranarian has your pet's health as their #1 priority!

I took my boxer to their Wallingford clinic, and what a disaster! The girl was rude and answered none of my questions, and I am not sure but I think the vet had 1 too many red bulls. My dog, who is usually a saint at the vet was terrified at this place. To make matters worse, he had a reaction to the rabies shot, and when I brought it to the attention of the head fruit cake, Maureen I believe was her name, she acted like I was wasting her time? I know shot reactions are a always a risk, but there was nothing they could do?

In this case one chance to shine is one chance too many. The staff is under-trained, and they needed a new leader a long time ago.
My boxer will never go back to any Luv My Pet Clinic. Some things are worth paying for, like a trip to the vet, where the animals get REAL care. That little Petco show they put on on weekends is to make $$, your pets health has nothing to do with nothing.

I LUV my pet, he will go to a real vet

Okay I've seen alot of comments about Luv My Pet and their employees and the difficulties that some have with this company.

First of all if your pet died its because something went wrong and its not exactly the company's fault they do what you tell them to do and thats it.

If they have a bad reaction to the vaccination how are they to tell which dogs will have complications from the vaccines...
I would say if you're worried about your dog having an adverse reaction to the vaccines you go to a regular vet and have them tested for good health.

I've put both of my dogs in this company's hands and nothing happened to them
I have a 1 year old dog that got all his puppy shots there including his rabies then a 12 week old who just got his shots there and they are both fine.

Secondly, If you have a bad experience with your area's luv my pet vaccination place that doesn't mean the whole company is bad. Here in Georgia the people who do our vaccinations here are very compassionate and even held up the line to play with my puppy.

I just hate how people whine and complain about things well sorry but its your fault you didn't check your dog before you went to this clinic to make sure he/she wasn't in bad health to accept this vaccine you gave them....They always say if you don't feel comfortable with the answer you got from them go to another vet to get a second opinion.

Be Cautious people thats the point.

I'm sorry for everyone's loss but in life you live and you learn.
I'm not saying keep going to the clinic if you no longer like it I'm saying take more precaution in what you put your dog into.

You paid for the services they did what YOU requested it is partly your fault too.

But on the other hand Luv My Pet In Georgia does a great job and I will keep going to them for my pets needs.

But on the other hand Luv My Pet In Georgia does a great job and I will keep going to them for my pets needs.

I have read all the comments about LUVMYPET, and presently, I do work for this company.
First and foremost, I want to send my DEEPEST condolences, to the people who's dogs have passed, gotten sick, been treated bad or any other bad experiences for that matter. I am one of the good employees, who treats every single customer I come into contact with the utmost respect, and the animal. I love interacting with the dogs and the cats, and show the customers that some of us do really care.
Yes its true, alot of people start out with this company with no experience, but we are trained. Please do not think that ALL OF US ARE A BAD PICK, some of us are really good people. The people I work with are out of the Laurel MD branch, there are a couple of us that prefer to work together simply because, we do have a good repor with the customers, and I Teekee, have been requested by name, specificly, to be sent out to clinics. Im the young lady who always has a smile on her face!! I do have precious experience with animals, Im not a new comer to this field, I have worked in several local animal hospitals. I am a CSR, Cashier, and a Vet tech for the company, yes, I do it all. Im sorry some of you have had bad experiences with us, but we are trying to help people save money, in these trying times.
I can agree on the managment aspect of my branch specificly. If you are in VA, MD, or PA, make sure you request, Zena,or Whitney, they are the best Vet techs at the branch, or Teekee, I will be glad to help. Any complaints, be sure to call corporate......

I went to a Luv My Pet shot clinic today in Woodbridge VA to get vaccines for my chihuahua. After standing in line for 1 1/2 hrs. the vet was irritated that my dog was wiggling and he hit my dog. Yes, that's right, he hit her, in the head. My little 6.5 pound chihuahua who was already frightened from being around some loud big dogs for so long and then having someone prodding her. She didn't try to bite him, she just wouldn't hold still. He instructed the tech to hold the dog still. The girl seemed intimidated and didn't hold my dog very firmly. He instructed her to hold the dog around the neck and hold her head still, which she did. My dog was still wiggling around and the vet (if he even is one) hesitated, made an angry face and then hauled off and hit her in the head with an open hand. He hit her pretty hard too. I said "Did you just hit my dog, what the hell?" He said "No, I hit her." and pointed to the tech. I said "so you hit your co-workers?" He then said I can't work with her and waved me away. I immediately went to the Petco manager and told them. The filed a complaint with Luv My Pet. I also called the police. In retrospect, I wish I had said more to the S.O.B. and I wish I had hit him in defense of my dog. Sadly, the law is clear with people and I probably would have been arrested, but hitting a dog is not a crime. (as it is if he hit a person.) However, he did hit his assistant in the process. I wish she would have done something. It was such a messed up situation. I will never go to a clinic again to save money. My poor little dog was traumatized, as was I by this rotten human being. Luv My Pet hasn't heard the last from me. Stay away from them. It's not worth it to save some money. These traveling clinics are dangerous and iffy. I'm just glad my dog didn't die as a result of negligence as some others have. (I have read some awful reviews from others.)

I have never seen a place that was so unprofessional and rude before in my life. The second you walk in and look at the people working this scam gives you a bad feeling. The first time i took my kitten i didnt think it would be that bad, well they over dosed my cat and she was sick for days. On top of that when i was about to take my cat to the table i took her out and held her, and a guy working the thing walks up and threatened to kick me out if i dont put my cat in the carrier. Do not bring you're animals here. they do not care about you're dog or cat they are just looking for an easy way to make money. IT IS A SCAM! Just spend the extra money and take you're pet to a real vet that cares.

These people present themselves in a very unprofessional way and they refuse to practice basic customer service. I asked very basic questions about the vaccinations they provided and they refused to answer! The woman giving the injections would not identify who she was or if she was a veternarian! I think these people are running a scam in conjunction with Petco. Unless you want problems with the vaccinations, don't let these quacks touch your pet. I called this office to find out what is going on and I called the corporate office and they never returned my call! They are a scam operation and they misrepresent themselves! Do yourself and your pet a favor and go to a real Veterinarian!

I love pets and thought this would be a great job since I am planning on becoming a vet someday. It took awhile to set up an interview since the manager (Maureen Baker) is rarely there and never answers the phone. I have to say that I have never had such an unprofessional interview in my life. I thought I was being punked. It took several hours and was basically the manager talking about herself. I learned little about the job. I had a couple of friends go also to see if they had the same experience. If anything it was worse. The manager basically warned them that her son uses the office as a pick up joint and they shouldn't expect special treatment if they go out with him since this has been an issue in the past and she has fired the women. I even went to a few clinics to observe and listen and didn't have too much trouble identifying the son's latest. Danielle is more interested in sending text messages than working. She has an attitude and even though she was supposed to be in charge (???) she made fun of co-workers who asked for help. She also seems afraid of animals since she was little help to the vet. I did notice several staff who seemed to care and were trying to do their best for the animals but others had little interest or knowledge and just tried to push whatever the manager had told them to. From what I could learn the manager almost never actually shows up to check on the clinics and training is either at the clinic or an occasional meeting which quickly turns into a monologue about the manager and how many hours she works and all her problems. This could be a good place to work with decent management because of the chance to deal with so many pets but the pay is only minimum wage and between Maureen, her horny son, and some of the immature, lazy, poorly trained children working there, flipping burgers at McDonalds would probably be more enjoyable.

All these people leaving comments about how love my pet hurt or killed your dogs are rediculous! I'm very sorry your pet died or got sick i truly am but honestly if it was that important to you then you should have taken him to a full service vet or researched where you took him for treatment. You trusted them with your pet and they did what they told you they were going to do, gave him the shots you signed up for and you paid for exactly what you got. Love my pet helps many people by vaccinating their dogs and educating owners when otherwise many wouldnt be able to afford it. The people who help fill out paperwork in line seem to know very well what they are talking about and are able to answer my questions every time. Honestly if you have such a problem with them you shouldnt go to them!

No - I work for Luv My Pet and they DO NOT adhere to Pharm. rules.

In fact, if you look at the bordatella label it says give intranasally ONCE and revax annually. LMP does it twice for puppies. It is not LAW to test for Heartworm every year, though it is probably safer.

2nd of all NOT every pet needs a Lepto vaccine. In some areas Lyme's disease is greatly more prevalant than Lepto. We don't even do a 3DX - just test for heartworm which is BELOW professional standard.

3rd - Why does a 15 year old dog need a Corona shot? Or any vaccine but Rabies for that matter unless it's going to be boarded? THAT IS JUST A SCAM!

4th- Professional standard is now to give a 3 year distemper shot...but you know what LMP will lose by doing that so that's out.

I would suggest to any client: If your dog NEVER leaves the house (no boarding, grooming, walks, etc.) Just get rabies and distemper from the ages 3-10, then at 10 stop everything but Rabies for vaccines.

I've also noticed that the % of fecal test results that are negative is rather high. Vets have made the same comments. Up until recently I don't think they were running the tests at all.

Please be advised that education is the key to your health and your pets. Be educated and ask questions.

I have worked for Luv My Pet, up until very recently, for about five years. It's not a horrible job for part-time employees--working two days a week and earning a decent wage is pretty nice. But the negative reviews here are pretty spot-on. Training is solely on-the-job, and everything that I've learned about their offered services was independent of anything they have taught. It is highly sales-based, but honestly so is most veterinary care, including anything done at an emergency hospital, so that's not entirely unusual, but it is pretty sad that a service geared towards those who care about their animals but cannot afford the extravagant costs of routine veterinary care is based on how much money they can milk out of their hard-hit customers. And yes, I believe that they overvaccinate pets regularly, but their medical policy adheres strictly to regulations set forth by pharmaceutical law and the guidelines for boostering set by the manufacturers of the vaccines, and it's truly highly unlikely that ANYTHING Luv My Pet does could kill an animal, short from it suffering an allergic reaction to vaccines which is nobody's fault but chance itself. As per my experience, the company is staffed with part-time employees that are undereducated about veterinary care but are well-meaning and try to meet the needs of their customers to the best of their ability, and managers and corporate officers who are motivated solely by commission and meeting specific quotas--eg how much heartworm preventative is sold, percentage of microchips implanted, so on and so forth. And yes, the veterinarians that you see at the clinics are NOT a part of Luv My Pet staff, but are paid per diem, and the only veterinarian always on staff is indeed based out of Florida. If you know exactly what your pets need as far as vaccines and other routine services are concerned, then there really isn't a reason to avoid Luv My Pet, as you really will save quite a bit. But if you want your animals to receive proper veterinary care, best bet is to either pay out-of-pocket for regular animal hospital visits with a veterinarian who will get to know you and your animals on a personal level, or sign up for one of those (rip-off) pet insurance plans.

The person who worked for LMP and was "well trained" is a rarity. At least that's not the case here in the Northeast or Midlantic region. They give you a smock, and ask if you can drive, and if you're willing to sell for no commission. If your answers are yes, you're trained. Even as a person who knew a lot about animals, I was not ready for what they expect you to do. As for the person who lost his pet. "I'm sorry" is a phrase you'll never hear from them. Employees are told NEVER to say "I'm sorry", when a pet dies. That is an admission of guilt! They know all the loopholes. My guess is, that they blamed the employee who took the information. Or, the employee who sold the meds. Just for the record, there IS NO VET in the office. The vets are paid by the hour for working the stores, and then they go home. They know nothing about the animals after they administer the shots. As far as I know, there is only ONE vet who works in the LMP offices. She's in Florida, and she's the medical director. In the other offices are only managers, and a couple of their (mostly part-time) employees who answer the phones. They give a standard answer that's written on the board behind them for any question you might ask.
The only thing these people LUV is your $$. LUV your pet? Take him to a full service vet.

This is in response to the customer review by peter g. (03/30/08)I also have worked for Luv My Pet, but the training I received was very good. I was sent out with someone who knew the position well, so their job was to show me how to do that position. I was not sent out on my own until both myself, the trainer, and the manager felt I knew what I was doing. I do however remember something being said about a previous manager named Peter being fired. Could this be the same one writing a customer review? If so could his opinion be a bit off color?

My mom brought my dog to a low priced vaccination clinic at Petco in North Haven Ct administered by Luv My Pet which is out of Plainfield Ct. My dog was tested for heart worms and the results delivered to my home said he did not have heart worms so we started the once a month prevention pill from heart guard and within hours of taking the pill he lost his energy, his stamina and coordination at one point falling down a flight of stairs while going for his evening walk.

Brought to the vet the very next day and re-tested we discovered he did indeed have heart worms and heart guard made it 10 times worse.

My dog died a few weeks later and when Luv My Pet was contacted not only was their representative "Maureen" rude and insensitive but after 2 weeks of researching the case denied Luv My Pet had any responsibility for my dogs death saying and i quote "there will be no compensation" as if compensation would have lessened my animals last few weeks of suffering.

I worked for LUV MY PET for about two years, you can start on Saturday and be a veterinarian assistance on Sunday. When I first started I was their about 2 weeks working as a cashier. then on Saturday with no training I was sent to customer service this position is suppose to help the customers on what their pets need. My self I had no idea what they needed so I told the veteran so he said fill out the owner name and pet name and look if they had a previous rabies certificate and he would take care of what the pet needed. My sales were low and all management were concerned about was that I did not sell a lot of packages. I learned what the pet's needed, but myself I just gave what the pet needed. The trouble was on any month you could work with 5 or 6 different veteran and all had different ideas on what the pets needed, and LUV MY PET wanted you to sell the pet packages so with lack of training and dealing with the veterinarian or LUV MY PET their is alot of problems. Leave me a massage if you had any problems with LUV MY PET.

I'm not sure what happened to my previous review, but I agree with the previous sender. The employees at LMP, for the most part, have no experience with animals at all. They're trained for sales, period. The manager's interest is based on commission. That frequently means unneccessary (and potentially harmful) services and products for you, the consumer.
As the previous poster stated, there are NO VETS in the office. If you call with a problem, the employee will give you a standard answer which is printed on his/her bulletin board.
Find out what shots are really necessary for your pet. Free rabies clinics are available in most areas. If you want quality care, find a veterinarian that you like. I don't think you'll find that here. I'll never take my pets to them.

I have been to Luv My Pet before with my dogs and I talked to some veterinarians and guess what...

Over vaccinating your pet can cause problems [more likely to cause vaccine reactions, more likely to get cancers from vaccines, etc.] Vaccines are very important and they help animals...but why are they giving 1 year distemper shots when almost the rest of the vets today give 3 YEAR distempers? Aren't you wasting your money?

So... does a cat that can only get a disease from another cat be vaccinated for feline leukemia EVERY YEAR when the cat lives in an apartment on the 30th floor in a skyscraper? Also, why do you SO many pets get reactions and the managers [who are NOT VETS] given reaction advice without a vet being there? IS that REALLY legal? Luv My Pet is a great service in terms of price...but do your research before they tell you you need a corona shot for an 8 year old dog. Be so careful with what you get. Get your rabies, distemper and heartworm...beware the other vaccines.

I took my 2 pitbull puppies in to PETCO to get shots for a company called LUV MY PUPPY. I wanted the LUV MY PUPPY PACK shots which included the six in 1 and pravo, corona and bortella, at the time they where 10 weeks. The young girl who was doing the paper work told me that my dogs where to young to have a parvo shot. That was on March 31, 2007. I woke up on April 17, 2007 to find one of my dogs dead. So i took the other to the vet and he has parvo and is dying. I called LUV MY PUPPY where they gave him his shots and asked why did the lady tell me that he was to young for a parvo shot and it says on your website clearly 6 weeks is the earliest. Are you not educating your employees? Are you just giving people jobs to kill our animals and then move to another pet store and give shots, or the next town. So she said that the vet dont remember me, maybe because wasnt the one doing the paper work or even asking why isnt this puppy getting this shot if his is this age. So they said their is nothing that they can do and my other puppy died this morning. What can i do? My puppies where part of my family. Is this something i can do i have 2 dead dogs? Someone please tell me something.

Luv my pet are the low cost vaccination clinic people that go to the Petco's. They do what they say they do. The just give vaccines or worm your dog. Whatever you request. This is not a full service clinic. But they are inexpensive. They allow dogs, cats and ferrets to get shots, that might not otherwise get vet care at all, due to the expense. I went there once with 5 animals, 4 cats in crates and a dog. Waiting in line was funny. You talk to the people around you. It is easier than trying to bring that many animals into a vet office.
Just don't expect any of the extras that a vet office will do. They do the shots, you pay, then you get out of the way. No personal touch at all. They are in a hurry, they usually have another stop to go to that day.

PROS: Cheap, and easier than a vet office.
CONS: You wait in line.
