Bob’s Discount Furniture and Mattress Store - Manchester

My daughter bought twin beds for her children. Even before she took the beds out of the plastic, I said she should return them because they're a piece of junk. Bob's PIT store would not take back the beds or give her a store credit. Now we are stuck with beds that are like cardboard on top of springs and the mattresses keep sliding off the box springs when you so much as sit on the bed. Never again will we buy from there.

Thought we were going to get a great deal on a bed set and then when they delivered it the delivery guy was a completely rude because the king sized bed wouldnt fit into the bedroom. He said "why didn't you tell me that you weren't going to keep the bed before I took it out of the box?" How did we know it wasn't going to fit before he took it out of the box? Then they left a peice in the livingroom and the door to the apartment building open with delivery debris everywhere. The door was left open, unbeknownst to us, for 3 hours. It's 20 degrees out! then When we went back to Bobs to see if they had beds that broke down, the saleswomen was overtalking me and the second I said we already bought, her attitude changed and she didn't really care what we had to say. She just kept saying that during the delivery we were to be there to watch the deliery guys every move and to tell them to pick up after themselves and to make sure that they put all of the pieces they delivered into the room and basically tell them to do the job that we have paid the extra money for. When I told the saleswomen that if I had ever done a job in the manner that their empolyees do,I would no longer have a job, and she was telling me that we still should have managed them better. NICE! No wonder all of these entrys are in the negative from customer service, delivery, and to getting the answers you need.

I just bought a brown leather love seat from the South Windsor,CT Bobs, and had no problem with the durability, or a problem with customer service. The receiving area was clean, and the receiving supervisor loaded the love seat without damaging it. Very nice people, paid $ 200.00 for it without a scratch on it. I will be back soon for more furniture.

my daughter and her husband went to the pit in manchester,ct.
and bought 2 sets of queen bob o-pedic matresses and boxsprings 1 set for them and a set for us, when we got them home and unwrapped the plastic from them, a strong chemical smell came from the foam , the same with our daughters we have both called the 800 number and were told that this is normal and the smell will go away ,it has been a week and i still cant sleep in that room it is such a stong odor and they will not except them back, has anyone had this problem and does the smell go away...thank you debbie 5/07/2010

I can't shop there again. I like the furniture but I just can't handle the sales people. As soon as you walk in the door they are ready to pounce on you. Even if I tell them I'm just looking they still follow me. I find it very uncomfortable shopping like that.

We have purchased furniture at Bob's and so far are happy with the quality. If you shop on a special sale the prices can be great. The prices of items not on sale are better than many furniture stores but not what I would call "discount". The sales men do jump right on you when you walk in but I have always found that if you tell them you're just looking they are fine with that. The showroom is nicely laid out and clean. It is convenient that this location has the "Pit" for "scratch and dent" type items as they are usually still in pretty good shape but the prices are usually not much lower than the regular ones.
They also have a snack area, a small mini golf area and a fish pond which are all great when you are shopping with kids.
The delivery time was quite long for the furniture I bought but the delivery men were polite and quick.
By the time we "goof proofed" the furniture, paid for delivery, a spicial color and taxes the price was several hundred dollars more than the price tag but so far it is worth it.

I had to get some furniture for our living and Bob's was the only that was able to deliver within 3 days, the sofa was even better than the one in the store, the sales person that help me was very pacient, i changed my mind a couple times, and he helped me choose, and the price was a still.

If you are looking for trendy furniture, this is not the place to go. If you want traditional furniture of quality appropriate for an average family, then you can find some good deals at Bob's. His advertising leaves a lot to be desired as it is very down home. Salespeople can be a bit of a problem as you do feel a little bit like fresh meat when you enter the store, obviously they work on commission. Prices are okay for the quality of pieces. You are not going to find this furniture in a million dollar home, but for most homes, this is a good place to being your search.

We recluctantly look at Bob's each time additional furniture is needed at our home. The pieces in the main sale area are well displayed, and help is easy to find. (Sometimes too easy, as the sales help work on commission and can be bohersome.)

The back area, known as "The Pit" (terrible name with bad connotation) is laid out more warehouse style with discounts on sofas, chairs, bed frames, and dining room furniture. Some items are damaged, while others are discontinued or were floor models. Largely we found the pieces in this area to be discounted yes, but overpriced for the quality and styles represented.

Someone interested in a more traditional look may be able to find good values at this store. Anyone looking for a more modern, updated look in their home is best going elsewhere.
