Atticus Book Store Cafe

Atticus Book Store Cafe is a great book store, with a lot of charm and quirkiness missing from the big chains. It is located on Chapel St. downtown, so it can be a bit tricky to park. But even if you do have to walk a bit, at least there are interesting windows and shops along they way, and you may burn enough calories to earn a scrumptious treat from the bakery while you're there. I am very partial to the scones.

Nice little bookstore in downtown New Haven, you can find books here that are not found in the big "chain" bookstores, especially of local interest. Plus, anywhere you can eat and read is cool with me!

This bookstore has a little bit of everything. It is a small booksotre but you can find a great selection in books, it is very enjoyable to find such a tiny bookstore that is not as overwhelming as the common big bookstores out there. It is great also because they have a small cafe inside but it sells a lot of things besides coffe, they have a great black beans soup that is very popular, and they sell all kind of breads as well. This is definetely a great place to read a book or the newspaper while having something to eat at the same time. Don't miss the bread basket with olive oil is cheap and delicious.

Atticus is another locally owned bookstore in New Haven, with an excellent location and a very attractive window display which features books you might not find otherwise. They have the usual array of staff selections, and sell some books at a discount downstairs. They also have a nice selection of greeting cards and other paraphenalia for sale. Many people come in primarily for the food, which is not cheap but quite tasty, and the bread, which they give away at midnight. Open late, and a good place to eat and read. Very close to campus and right in the middle of downtown.

Atticus cafe is a bookstore and cafe. The bookstore carries mostly mainstream popular literature. Atticus is on the Yale University campus, so it also carries books by Yale authors and local-interest books about Yale and Connecticut. The staff will order books that are not in stock and hold them for you. The cafe has great food, although it is often crowded and is a bit expensive. They also have nice takeaway coffee and pastries.
