if you haven't visited the Vernon location recently... i hope you take the time out to check out the place again. i have been going there for years and the staff they have now is what keeps me coming back. jason and jenni are a dynamic duo and it's amazing how much life they bring to the club. the atmosphere is vibrant, staff is friendly and always helpful. when i walk in it's like popping in for a visit to catch up with old friends. they keep me well informed about the move for january now that this building is already in the hands of the new owner for december.the price is right, the equipment is great and always clean. i'm never waiting for any piece of cardio. i can't wait to see the new vernon! i'll recommend this place hands down to anyone looking to get back in shape for a great price! i never found this from any other gym i've tried in the area (planet fitness, golds, the YMCA, etc).

I joined years ago and yes the $10.60 is a good price (Planet fitness is also the same price). I'm just wondering when the promise of a new Vernon facility will ever happen? Reading blogs that promise was made at least 8 years ago. There was a flyer in the facility in 2009 saying YES IT'S TRUE WE ARE MOVING BY THE END OF THE YEAR! Yea right. I don't go in the summer because it's easier to run outside. I fight the winter 'traffic' like everyone else in the ghetto Vernon Cardio

Wow, I cannot believe all the negative reviews of cardio express in Vernon. I have been a member for 3yrs and I have never once experienced a problem with any staff, trainer or member. Sure it's not club med, if you're looking for a spa experience I suggest you join one. Anyone who had an attitude problem with a member oviously has one themselves.I go early am and everyone is very nice, non-judgemental of others and fun to be around for the most part. Further more anyone who thinks a personal trainer doesn't charge for their services is just an idiot. The only thing that I would agree with in the parking in the afternoon. I have driven by when the lot is jam packed and people park with no rhyme or reason but that doesn't affect me since I don't go at peak times. Anway for the price, you can't beat it. It has the equipment that suits the average person trying to get in or stay in shape. If you have aspirations beyond that you are deffinately in the wrong gym.

Is the carpet a little ragged, yes.. is it the prettiest, cleanest or shiniest gym out there? no, but it serves its purpose & the staff greets me whenever I'm walking in or out. Any gym is completely clogged between 4-7pm mon-fri, judging by the small size of the gym you shouldn't be surprised if you can't find a parking spot or have to wait for a certain machine. I've seen staff cleaning the machines later on at night, I don't use the locker room so I can't fairly speak about the gym's overall cleanliness. I joined this gym because of their fair price & because its simple. Once I found a broken machine, reported it & it was fixed w/in a day or two. I could have joined LA Fitness for a higher price & more amenities (& its closer to my house) but for $20/month Cardio Express is juuuuust fine!

I have been a member of Cardio Express for two years and have had nothing less than a great experience. You cant beat $10 or $20 a month for a great facility, friendly environment, and unlimited tanning. (I used to pay WAY more than this for tanning alone). There are commitment, and non commitment memberships available so just be sure to pay attention to what you are signing up for, and there should be no reason to get bent out of shape. Some of the newer Cardios are really nice, but If your looking for a descent sized free weight room, check out the Cardio in Vernon! (although dumbells only go to 75lbs.) Enjoy!

Pros: Plenty to do if ur serious about being healhy

Cons: people who expect a platnum facility for $10mo.

This gym come originally from Atlanta, and they are predatory on their contracts because they know most people will sign up for a gym and not go, so they do lock ins for "12" months. I mean just a disgusting gym, if you want a cheap gym with gross equipment and promises of a new location come to one of these.

Tried Cardio Express Vernon location for convenience and was very disappointed. Seemed to have older dated machines, none of the cardio equipments televisions worked (cable bill didn't get paid?) and staff was borderline rude and completely useless. Upon asking where the treadmills were not only did I have to get the girl's attention when standing DIRECTLY in front of her but she said "upstairs" like that is all the direction needed for an obvious newcomer. WOULD NOT GO BACK, Manchester staff is MUCH friendlier, more helpful and the gym is in much more updated and clean condition.

I've been a member at cardio express for 2 years now. i pay 10.60 a month, which is why I joined(that's cheap) and I'm a college student so i don't have a lot of money. I joined the vernon one first, that place is as filthy as can be. All the equipment is always dirty and dusty. There is never any paper towels to sanitize your machine. Don't even think about going there around 3-6 because there is no parking or any machines open. you will be wasting your time. The dressing rooms are disgusting because people wipe their snots on the walls and there are holes in the ceiling. The toilets are disgust sometimes they don't flush. I remember the scale was broken for a couple months. Some of the girls that work have really bad attitudes. Hopefully you know 30 days before you lose your credit card or debit card because you be fee'd double of what your membership payment is. (nobody knows when they are going to lose their card since its unintentional). You get what you pay for I guess. I stayed because it was close to my job and it was cheap.

I joined cardio express about one year ago and I was told the gym would be in a new location spring 08. I noticed new carpeting in the gym and now I wonder if they will be moving at all. I was approached by a personal trainer and made an appointment with him. He did not inform me that this service was an extra charge. He was very pushy and now I am going to quit this place. One reason I liked this gym, despite the shabbiness, torn carpets, and worn out decor, was the fact no one pressured me to recruit friends. I dread going back there to quit. I was very offended by this personal trainer.

For starters, the gym is ridiculously overcrowded and you can never get on a machine without waiting every time. I signed up for a year contract membership and they continued to bill me up to 6months after my year contract was already up. When i called to ask them about this they were very rude and uninformative and told me i have to come into the store to cancel. I wouldnt find this gym beneficial. Not to mention the actual trainers here are extremely unhelpful as they're all either high school or college students with 0 experience in actually training.

I joined CE a few years ago to get back in shape; I was turning 30 and it was scary. lol. Anyway, I liked it back then, I got in shape it was great, however, I hurt my knee so I wasn't able to go back for a few months, and did I ever gain lbs! But whatever, that was expected, but this time around I found out that CE had hired personal trainers, which I realize is there to stay w/their competition. However, these trainers are so pushy and obnoxious. They approach all the overweight ppl and try to convince them to sign up. Hello? I am fat...not blind. I see that you are a personal trainer I don't need you pushing me to work with you and embarssing me further. Especially when they tell you they are "asking everyone." Um, I didn't see you ask Barbie next to me...so I am dropping my membership and going someplace where I am more comfortalbe. I am willing to come back and check it out again, but those obnxious trainers need to go or need to learn a lesson in tact.

As far as I'm concerned, Cardio is only good for the $10/mo unlimited tanning package I kept it for. I have been a member for 10 years, but I took my exercising business over to LA Fitness in S Windsor and sucked up the extra monthly expense. Besides being more convenient to my home, LA offers WAY for not much more $$ than a than the top tier of a CE membership (but they don't have tanning). I have watched CE go downhill in cleanliness and overall customer service in recent years, and am much happier at LA. I suggest those of you who are unhappy take a tour of LA and spend the extra $$, based on your complaints.

I have to say that I have been a member in the Vernon gym for over 5 years, in fact I was there back in 2000-2001 too and I moved away, and when I came back, I was really happy to come back to Cardio Express. I used to work out during the overnight since I worked second shift, the gym is great at midnight. It was like I had it all to myself for a great workout, and then I could go home and crash.
Now I work out at 6 or 7 pm and I always find the gym to be clean, and the members and staff to be really friendly. If I do see something off, I always report it to the front desk and they are very responsive. The front desk always greets me personally with a smile and says goodbye.
As for the staff, it seems the turnover here is much lower than most gyms and no matter who is there they have always been friendly and helpful to me. I think the staff all genuinely enjoy working in fitness and I don't find them to be only chatting amongst themselves, in fact, I see them helping members often with questions and concerns.
This gym is convenient, clean, fun, and I always feel better and happier when I leave.

(continued) I once overheard a "trainer" advise a guy to drink more water no matter what even though the fellow told him he had strict orders from his doctor to limit water intake due to extremely high BP. They also have most people do exercises that are generally ineffective but that are easy so people like them. I would strongly suggest reading up on how to approach exercising on the internet. There is so much valuable information out there from people that have been studying it and implementing it for years and haven?t just taken a personal trainer course at their local community college. I?m not trying to rip on the personal trainers, but what do you honestly expect from a $10 a month gym? The only people that should need personal trainers anyway are professional athletes and actors that need to get in shape in a very short amount of time, requiring extreme measures. It?s unfortunate that most people lack the willpower to get in shape by themselves by both working out (2-3 times a week is fine!) and eating properly. If you like to eat out every night, then no amount of personal training will help you shed those pounds. I suggest getting a workout partner as it?s easier to work up the motivation to exercise that way. Also, I recommend that everyone do at least a little free-weight weight-lifting as it?s probably the best thing for you (whether being male or female). Try multiple-muscle exercises like squats, bench press, rows, military press, and deadlifts to really get the most out of your workouts for the least time. Also great are pull-ups and dips. A downfall of CE is that they don?t offer any good cardio classes like spinning, but that?s mostly for girls.

In conclusion: If you don?t need luxury amenities (racquetball, pool, basketball, spa, good classes) and just want to get in shape and stay in shape (or get big), then this is a great bargain. Also, I hear the tanning is a bargain for an extra $10/month, but have no experience with that.

About me: I've been going to the Vernon CE for the past 4-5 years and am satisfied with it. I am fit and healthy and have both a practical and scientific understanding of working out (and I read all about it on the internet). I don't use their tanning and would never even consider using any of the "personal training" but the facilities are good. I'm 21 and go to UConn and prefer the CE gym to UConn's, mostly due to extreme overcrowding at UConn (waiting 20 minutes for a bench).

One of my big problems with society these days is that far too many people feel "entitled" to everything. Bottom line is, you get what you pay for. With Cardio Express, you pay $10 a month and get everything you need to get and stay in great shape. There're plenty of cardio machines and enough free weights/bars for anyone that isn't a huge bodybuilder. I think they try to attract less experienced gym-goers (which is why they have dumbells only going up to 75 lbs.), but that's fine - most people get turned off to weight lifting if there are extremely hulky guys hogging the benches and whatnot. As an aside, I visited the Tolland CE recently, and they severely lack any substantial amount of free weights and the place is small, so I wouldn't go there. The Vernon CE gets really busy in peak hours (5-9 on weekdays) but most other times it's fine. I try to go in off-peak hours. A big concern is the parking. It truly is pathetic if you go in the peak hours and sometimes you have to wait a minute or two to find a spot. This was supposed to be alleviated by moving locations, but that has been in the works for the last couple years and almost none of the staff know what's going on with that. The staff in general is OK (read: not great). It's mostly young people and most just like to socialize. I would stay away from asking advice from any of the staff as most are fairly clueless.

CE serves it's purpose for me; workout and leave. The staff always greet me when I come in. If a machine is not available I use something else until it is. The parking isn't great, but common sense told me that before I joined. I never felt pressured to join, either you do or you don't. How much do you expect for $20. a month? I don't regret joining.

I have seen reviews on this website that are no longer on. Is someone deleting bad reviews? That would challenge the integrity of the place. Also, the post dates for the reviews are not correct. Is that intentional. I personally have submitted a review that is no longer on as far as I can tell. That would be totally irresponsible because people wouldn't have an opportunity to make a decision about whether or not to join.

I joined the facility in Vernon recently and, on the whole, have few complaints. I mean, for the price - of course the carpets aren't brand new and there are no towels for the shower. I'm a single mother of 4, so I'll bring my own towel or shower at home to save on membership fees. My main complaint is that usually the only time I have to work out is at night. It was my understanding that I joined a 24-hour-a-day gym. A couple weeks later, I find out that they close at 5 PM on Saturday and Sunday. Well... my gym-buddy works til 6 on Saturday, so that was a bummer, but we could work around that. Tonight, a Friday, I finished getting kids to bed and such and decided I really needed to go do some stretching and sweating.. really badly!!! I got to the Vernon gym at 10:45PM and it was locked up solid and dark!!! Ok, being a bit flexible, I decide to drive (at $4 a gallon for gas!) to the Manchester facility, which I've never been to... and guess what... also closed! What good is the place to me if I can't work out when I need to? My girlfriend joined with me and she's about ready to quit ... except the unlimited tanning is worth the price to her.

When it is open, we've had good luck at finding machines in good repair, clean and available. Most of the staff is typical of the early-20's age group in that they'd really rather be flirting with each other, but I can even get by that ... I just need the place to be OPEN!

I have been going to CE for over 2 years now and so much has changed. The new center was supposed to be open, oh, about 2 years ago. The current one always seems dingy and dirty. I never see anyone cleaning the machines after they use them, staff is always talking amongst themselves and never greet you, there's only one tanning room with a mirror, and there all gross looking if you look at the floor. And there is never any parking when i go, so i wind up wasting gas. If your looking to join, I'd at least wait until the new center is open.

I know there are a lot of bad reviews but I actually like the gym (in Vernon.) Everyone is always very nice to me. I agree the gym is a little small but I think they have plenty of equipment to change up my workouts. I don't know about the personal training services because if I want to change-up my workout I just look at fitness magazines, they always have a lot of original ideas.

When I went in with my friend who already had a membership, they gave me the free month with no problems. I did have to fill out a form but no one discussed joining with me at that time. I felt no pressure at all.

My membership is $20/month, try finding that price at Bally's, L.A. Fitness or anywhere else. They are like $40/month. No thanks!

Pros: price, fiendly staff and free tanning

Cons: PARKING!

The gym is always dirty, the equipment is always broken or taken by a group of underage kids tha should not legally be working out without supervision. This place is horribly run starting with the owners complete lack of care towards his staff and customers. The personal training is a joke, they overcharge then over book appointments, so no one gets trained. I would be suprised if any of these clowns was actually certified!

The only bright spot is the friendly hard working staff who are in way over their heads.

If I had a choice I would never sign up here.

I am extremely disappointed in the parking at Cardio Express in Vernon. I went my first time, parked behind other vehicles on the side road and was towed. Cardio Express took no responsibility when I confronted them with my $88.00 ticket. They said they are not responsible and that they have had this happen before because complaints are filed by the condiminum rep. Don't you think that if this has been a problem in the past there would be a sign inside the facility or perhaps they could "fill you in" on that minor detail when they sign you up. They are quick to take your money from you to go to a gym with no parking.

I received a coupon for $10 a month (or 30 days Free) from my girlfriend, who is a member. I just went there to try the gym, so I wanted to use the 30 days Free option. The sales woman would not honor the coupon. She told me that I had to pay $10 for a "day pass". When I confronted her about the 30 Days Free, she said that there is no such thing. When asked why it was on the coupon, she said we only put it there to get people in the door.

The sales woman was working the hard sell, trying to get me to sign up the a year, but at $20 a month!!!! The coupon said $10 a month, no contract, no commitment. Why do I have to commit myself to a year, paying double the advertised price on a no contract, no commitment offer?

Since I was there with my girlfriend, I payed the $10 for the day pass. As we walked away from the sales woman, unwilling to sign up for a year membership, she mumbled under her breath, (but loud enough for both of us to hear), "I am so pissed!!".

We found out shortly afterwards that this woman is actually the assistant manager.

Be very careful dealing with this company. I came home a looked online (I wish I had done so before I got there), and found quite a few complaints about this gym.

I'm not joining.

I can't believe that people are actually using the personal names of the staff members of these facilities and then signing an anonymous name. How unfair. Imagine having a job where you work with the public and then finding yourself insulted by name all over a website like this.

I have never been so disappointed in any service (even airline service!) as much as I have been with Cardio Express! I joined this gym because it was close to home and it was reasonably priced ($20/month unlimited use of the gym, year long contract) thinking that I would have access to great classes and good equipment. When I signed up in August of 2006, they're new facility was opening in a few months. Due to circumstances out of their control, it still hasn't opened. They were opening a new location in Tolland in October 2007-- now not going to be open until January 2008. The classes are a joke, there is no variety of equipment so your workouts get stale and boring very quickly, there's no one there to help you if you do want to change your routine and are looking for some quick advice (you have to pay an additional $99 for personal training sessions which is much different than talking to a trainer for 10 minutes about how to spice up your routine). They're trying to sell gyms that don't exist (the new Vernon location and Tolland location) and as with every other aspect of this gym, it falls way below expectations. If they ever actually get the new facilities up, I doubt they will be better than this Vernon location. My new standard of joining a gym will now be: do they offer towels? CE doesn't (which I didn't think was a big deal when I joined), but turns out it's just one of the ways that they've proven to me that they don't care about customers and they're just trying to make a buck.

Honestly, I felt like the only time anyone of the staff cared was when they were pushing me to sign up. My friend gave me a 30-day pass to use and when I did I had to fill out some form and then had to sit down with someone while they wasted my time with their sales pitch. They made you feel like you had to join right then and there to get a great deal. Why not hand the person the info and tell them that if and when they are ready to sign-up to come and see them. I really hope the owner of the club reads these concerns that customers do have. It would be great to see an average outgoing individual behind the front desk. It gets fustrating seeing the staff flirt with the physically fit or attractive members and that goes for the members who do it more then the staff members. Well anyways I joined the gym, because they say that one is being put in Tolland. I hope that the gym will truly open in the fall and that the staff is really energetic and fun to be around.

I go to the vernon location, and overall am pretty pleased with it, except for the parking at certain times on certain days--. They definately need a bigger parking lot!! And when is the new facility on 83 opening!!!? I heard it's an issue with the Dept. of Transportation...but members are just wondering. Why not post some sort of explanation within the gym to let members in on what's going on, and the expected opening date. Lack of communication is what I see as a problem. ...other than that, I'm pretty satisified. Machines are always available, however I'm not too fond of the layout of the gym. If you want to do weight machines, you are facing the people on cardio machines, head on. It's a bit awkward, espeically if you're on a machine in the front row--you're practically staring them right in the face. Therefore, the gym is a bit cramped. hopefully the new locations will be more spacious. And hopefully they get more weight machines in for targeting abs--there's only one and someone is always on it, taking forever. The staff- I have no complaints. Always friendly for the most part...there's been a significant turn over recently it seems though--a lot of college aged girls working up front. A few are on the snobby, less than enthusiastic side. I have recently seen a tall girl with short, short spiky hair in, dressed up--i think she's the manager--very nice to members. for the $$, it's worth it, espeically with the tanning!!!!

I used to love this place......good gym great price and so on. Recent changes have been less than positive for this club. Whatever happened to staff members that cared. This is club no longer has the same appeal......my recommendation to those who read this is to join elsewhere. Too much turnover to feel welcoming and all the good staff are gone.

This was a nice facility for the right $$$$$ for years but is going downhill. Management selection of managers has gone from bad to worse. Who is making these decisions....are they ill. I signed up because I loved the staff and to chat and laugh before working out.....helped me forget I was at the gym. Sarah was never seen but at least she was relatively friendly.....the new guy is like a deer in headlights and is a moron.......needs better people skills and makes me very happy my membership is coming up. Are they closing, moving, going out of business that would be the only reason to have him in charge. By the way, why not Beth or Corinna, everyone likes them and they work hard. Very disappointing, and when is the construction going to end? Perhaps those looking for a professional and fun experience at a gym should try elsewhere.....I know I will.

I have to say I have always loved this club and in general the facility is more than adequate. I have a hard time though with the staff choices. The people I am friendly with all agree with the previous views and recommendations from our conversations while working out and cannot believe Sarah was in charge in the first place. I was utterly shocked today when I went in to workout to find a new manager today. Especially since last week Sarah had mentioned Beth and Corinna were most likely going to step in (which most of us thought was great and long overdue anyways). Once again upper management has not considered the existing members and their observations. Just take a look at some of the reviewers comments on this site alone. This new manager has half their personality and was an instant turnoff to me. I have lost all respect for this place and more importantly will not be renewing my membership and will never refer anyone to join. Obviously members views do not matter.

Keep up the good work girls I always appreciated your dedication and friendliness.

This is by far the best facility in Cental Ct., the equipment is always in fine shape and the newest technology. The price is unbeatable for what Cardio Express has to offer and affordable for anyone's budget. I highly recommend this place for anyone who is sick of Bally's and the other facilities around the Wethersfield, Rocky Hill, Newington and West Hartford area.

I also have to agree with some of my peer members of Wethersfield on the whole staff comments. Has anyone realized how different the club is when Beth is away. Hurry back this place needs a genuine person around who cares and has some pride.

I was browsing the net this morning and found this site and felt it was the prefect media to express myself anonymously.Let me start by saying I have been a member of the Wethersfield club for years. It is a great facility, treadmills that are new and state of the art and always easy to get time on. The tanning is an added bonus and is easy to access as well. So this place is a fine physical complex and worth every penny. There are some issues though and they seem to be along the same area as the earlier reviews. Why is Sarah in charge, I find her to be a complete downer when I enter the club. I actually wanted to tell her but felt as a member it was a bit inappropriate. So I am venting my frustration here. Also I heard make a disturbing comment the other day that the club runs so much better when Beth is away. Well as a member I hope management realizes that this could not be farther from the truth. Beth and Corrinna are the staff that we as members look to for help and motivation. Beth is a great inspiration to me as a heavier women I see her figure and energy and it makes me want to come to Cardio Express and work out more vigilantly. When she has breaks you actually see her working out herself in the facility. What a fantastic advertisement for Cardio Express as a business and thanks Beth it motivates more than you will ever know. What doesn't help is the constant whining and complaining I hear from the manager. Maybe she should take a look at other staff members. It reminds me of how I got heavy by being lazy, always eating and complaining, all I can say is drop your martyr attitude Sarah no member I know thinks you work hard. In fact instead of criticizing maybe you should be thankful that you have staff that tries and takes on more of Beth's personality than yours. Perhaps you should work for her and learn to exert some energy cleaning instead of flirting with the girl who comes in every day. My final observation is for Mr. Rusconi the owner, why don't you have girls like Kiara(who i signed up with) and Beth as managers anymore. I cannot speak for their sales abilities but as far as customer service, energy and inspiration to us weight challenged ladies they are what you need. In fact I think wacky Suzy was a better manager than Sarah. This is a great place I think they need to analyze who they hire as managers a little better. As the other reviewer pointed out I think you already have someone who should be in charge. She does most of the work anyway, keep it up Beth we appreciate the job you do.

First off I will say that I like Cardio Express and find it a great place to have a membership. It has great treadmills and easily accessible tanning booths and for the price you can't be it.
My only comment mirrors the two prior Wethersfield reviews and is about the staff. The management of these gyms cannot be so blind as to not recognize that Beth and Corinna are who most of the members believe run this place. They both seem to always put the well being of us members first and Beth's energy is infectious. I commend her on how she is constantly straightening up to keep the club clean. Actually that is why I thought she was the GM and the girl with the multi-colored hair was the bookeeper. I was stunned to learn differently. I have to say not a good representation of the club. If that girl is the boss why is she so lazy and always in the back or whining about one thing or another. It is rather annoying from a female member standpoint and does not look good in general. Take a good look there are better people suited for her job already in place. A change can add a more positive air to an already fine facility.

PROS: Great Treadmills with lcd's,tanning, price, assistant staff
CONS: lazy,whiny,multi-colored hair girl

I recently went to look at this club to possibly sign up for a membership. I liked what I saw and yes the price was great but I could not bring myself to join. Any place that has a manager who on his best day would lose a spelling bee to a third grader leaves me skeptical. This gentlemen who gave me a tour was barely paying attention and had the worst vocabulary for someone in sales. Hello "meathead", yes and no work much better than yah and nope. Also you are trying to get me to sign up so give me your attention not the cute girls working out while you are showing me the facility. The club looked nice but due to the manager I brought my business elsewhere. They should really rethink who they have selling. Though from the two reviews before me it sounds as if Wethersfield is their better location anyways.

PROS: looks nice
CONS: the male manager

I was on this site looking for reviews on landscapers who do residential fall cleanups. When I came across reviews of a health club where I am a longtime member so I had to put in my two cents and comment.

I have been a member at Cardio Express's Wethersfield facility for a quite a while and have to say have enjoyed every aspect of that membership. The club is always current in their equipment and their fees are the most reasonable around.
The one issue I find, and the previous reviewer was correct for questioning, is why is the short haired girl( I believe her name is Sarah)is in charge. Seems a bit of a stretch to even call her a manager when infact I believe that Beth and Corinna run the place. Now that is not a direct knock on her ability to manage but she is more occupied by flirting with her friends while others are friendly and address members. The whole staff is so attentive but she is focused on very few and spends far too much time away from the front desk with her friend in back. A noticable thing to my whole crew of guys I have been working out with for years. I was glad to see the previous reviewer had the same impression as we do, perhaps someone should write a letter to management. We all think Beth and Corinna are great take pride in their jobs, a refreshing thing to see these days.

Actually my friend Tom points out that Beth is the best personality to hit this club since Kyara(who got us all to join)years ago and he believes they are cousins(same last name) which is why it is not suprising.

***SO JOIN THIS GYM you will enjoy it and the price is great, best place around, staff minus one is very helpful and overall I find it a good place to workout.

PROS: Equipment Availability, Price, Location,Staff
CONS: Been Saying It for Years "No Water Coolers"

I have read the reviews from the Vernon location and have wondered how two clubs under the same ownership are so vastly different. One word "staff", I would like to say that my membership experience has been wonderful for many reasons. The equipment is first rate , the layout is perfect , the up to date tanning facilities are an added bonus and pricing is more than affordable for every budget. Most important though is the staff and one stands out, Beth. She is present and accessible, extremely pleasant and personable, willing to solve any issue, constantly cleaning(as other employees stand around and members do notice)and creates such a positive atmosphere that makes you want to go workout. My only complaint and much to my suprise, she is not the manager. When I learned over a month ago I was taken back because with out her personality this club is just a regular gym with good facilities. Whomever the manager is should thank their lucky stars that they have someone like her to make them look good because a great deal of members assume she is in charge. ATTENTION to the owner have this girl run your club, before someone else hires her away and you lose members.Overall this is a great facility and the right price, keep up the good work.

PROS: Great equipment, great location, good staff
CONS: Who is the actual manager?

I cancelled my membership, in Sept. 06 I'm still being billed, they are telling me I never cancelled, when I physically drove myself down there and completed the paperwork necessary. Now they won't refund my membership for the month of Oct. IT is ridiculous. Find another gym.

It's a very busy place. I know this from experience. If you don't believe me just look at the parking lot, its always packed. The price is alright compared to other gyms, but the idea of waiting in line to use a machine is not cool. Find a better place

I joined Cardio Express last month after thinking about doing so for quite some time. I found that they run a different membership special each month, which can result in significant savings. Recent specials include:

2 for 1 membership
50% off initial signup fee

The exercise equipment available is of high quality and well maintained. Treadmills, stationary bikes, stair steppers, and elliptical machines are modern and well maintained. The majority of patrons seem polite and respectful, cleaning up after themselves and not "hogging" machines.

High volume times (ie 5-7pm weekdays) are still not overcrowded and one can nearly always get on a machine, if not the one of your choice

PROS: Good machines, friendly staff, not too crowded
CONS: Low monthly fees mean fewer 'perks' like towels and water coolers
