We LOVE this place. We are new to the area and Michelle has remembered our names from day one. Very kid friendly and amazing baked goods. We walk here every weekend and the live music on Sundays is a big plus. Is there anywhere else you can take a 3 year old to hear live music? We recommend to all our friends. I too wish it was open in the evenings.

When we want to feel welcome and meet friends this is where we go. It's where we met our first friend when we moved to Black rock. I am also a liberal democrat and always feel welcome here, it's not about politics it's about neighbors and great food, try Antonio's home fries!!!

If only every community had a Harborview Market! It's as much a community center as it is a place for good coffee, wonderful fresh baked goods and fudge, and not-just-standard-deli sandwiches. It just feels good to walk in there, and you never know when a patron will sit down and start playing the piano. Outdoor tables on that quiet street are nice.As for the person who commented on the McCain picture -- you have to realize that Rick (the owner) ran for mayor as a Republican in Bridgeport at a time when the local Dems had a history of corruption; that made him one of about 12 Republicans in Bpt, hence this was a logical stop for McCain. I'm a diehard Dem but I love Harborview and Rick and Michelle are the nicest and most committed people you'll ever meet. Don't let anything deter you from trying their chocolate croissants! Yes you can!

I am lucky enough to reside a stones throw from the market. The atmosphere is warm and friendly, and the prices are very reasonable. This is a fresh lunch buffet and various community art and music events. I just wish it was open for dinner!

Response from this business:

John McCain was in our store!!! It was more than a picture of John McCain... It was a picture of John McCain inside of Harborview Market. We thought it was pretty cool that the potential next president of the United States was in our store. If it had been Barak Obama, his picture would have been up.

The Harborview is a little like the Cheers bar in that it's the place you go where everyone knows your name. Order breakfast or lunch, or a fresh baked cookie or muffin/croissant and grab an outside table- They have live music most weekends, outdoor bbq's on friday nights, and mostly are a hub for the community of Black Rock. You'll find artists, musicians, college professors and a mix of families, gays, and dogs (outside). It's a great spot.

PROS: You'll love the atmosphere, artsy, community, music, neighborhoody
CONS: It isn't open more often at night- that's the only bad thing
