The only thing worse than the food is the service. Tried this place twice thinking anyone can have a bad night. Nope, they just suck.

Pros: nice atmosphere

Cons: Poor food with worse service

My husband and I tried the new (across the street from the old) Water Street restaurant, on two, separate occasions, about two years ago and I've been wanting to write a review every since.
We were treated disprespectfully the first time, and criminally disrespectful the second. I'm going to focus on the "let's just see if they were having a really bad night" second visit. I don't know if it was because we are both 40, yet we look like we're 20, or that this is the status quo - because it was not just one employee, but the bartender, our young male waiter, and several others who seemed to have left their ethics and their decency at home.
We were treated with snobbery and aloofness by the bartender from the minute we walked in. We waited at the front door for many many minutes before anyone even offered to seat us. We were begrudgingly seated at a tiny table by the door, in the bar area where we sat for many more minutes. Our waiter was flippant and sarcastic from start to finish. When we ordered dessert and coffee, I asked for a spoon. The waiter looked at me as if I was the most demanding soul on the planet. He strode off and came back with the dirtiest spoon he could find: it was coated in some thick, clear substance - hard to see at our dark table. My husband and I looked at the spoon, and then at each other. The waiter and the bartender were standing at the end of the bar with some customers and they were all staring our way as if this were some kind of a joke. When we got our check, instead of a signature, my husband wrote "Thanks a lot." on the line. We have never, nor will we ever go back.
We have dined in some of the best restaurants in America and Europe; this was, by far, the worst experience we have ever had.
