After a bad delivery of a washer I promised my self to never shop there again.
Unfortunately the Southington Bernies is close to home. Well breaking my promise I went browsing for a new TV. The salesmen were like used car salesmen (in a bad way). Pushy, Very very pushy. The first salesman I actually had to tell him I needed to work with someone else.
I needed several trips (more measurements) and decided on a TV and stand. The stand was not in stock but we had to wait 40 minutes to get the information. I made them credit my card. All in all it was not a pleasant experience but not actually horrible.
The following week I found myself in Newington so I thought I would stop in that Bernies. I walked in with my tape measure and saw the TV stand I wanted.
A salesman came up behind me and said ??What can we help you with today Sunny??
I said ??I would like to get this TV stand and don??t call me Sunny.?
He said something like ??Well today your Sunny?
I said ??Get the F--- way from me. I will not let someone insult me.?
Needless to say I was done shopping.
I will go without before I ever step into Bernies again .

Bernie's is a terrible place to shop. They were caught changing prices on receipts after the fact. For instance, you go in and ask for money off the TV. They tell you they can't do it and tell you you'll get a free cable instead. You leave, they move the money, take it off the TV and put it back on the cable. That way if you see the TV for $30 cheaper somewhere else, you go in, and they have in their computer that you paid less for the TV and won't give you the difference back like they claim they will.

Also don't ever leave a deposit at Bernie's, they give you an EXTREMELY hard time when you try to get it back, and won't even refund a $20 deposit in cash, even if you left cash. They will make you wait for a check to come in the mail weeks later.

Just do yourself a favor and shop somewhere reputable.

I found an internet site call us-appliances.com that is much cheaper and they deliver for $70 with no sales tax. Good place to look around though. I have bought lots of stuff there in the past.

My wife and I purchased a new Haier refrigerator from Bernie??s in Southington in early October. The unit was delivered within the agreed four hour window. Unfortunately, the unit was delivered incomplete, missing handles and manuals. After about twelve hours it became clear that the unit did not cool or freeze. After two weeks and several calls to customer service, a technician was scheduled to arrive within another four hour window. He quickly determined that the unit was irreparable. I then spent another hour with the technician making calls to Haier and Bernie??s in order to obtain authorization to replace the unit. After several calls initiated by me, a delivery time within yet another four hour window was agreed. The first unit was duly removed and the second unit brought in, whereupon it was discovered that that unit likewise lacked manuals and handles. After about thirty minutes of discussion, Bernie??s agreed to arrange for a technician to attach the handles and supply the manuals. A fourth four hour window of my time will be required for this visit.

The important points concerning this experience are, in my view:

1.I will have needed to spend at least sixteen hours of personal time in order to have this transaction completed satisfactorily.
2.Bernie??s customer service was completely unhelpful, being unwilling to help me get an operable refrigerator for my family in a timely manner. I add further that the customer service department on several occasions did not return calls.

Although the price of Bernie??s appliances may be attractive, if you buy from that firm, know that you are on your own if there is a problem. In the end, buying from Bernie??s is a good deal only if your time and effort have no value.

Pros: Low sticker price

Cons: No follow up service. Very inconvenient and time consuming

Good pricing, but not worthwhile for selection. They should be used to compare for pricing to local electronics chains, as they are often cheaper, but followup warranty is not as good.

I have purchased several appliances here during their sales. I'll admit, the prices can be on the high side if you aren't shopping when thing are on sale. Delivery was fantastic - great professional guys who installed things quickly. The selection is good but not great. We had a hard time finding a refrigerator that would fit in our kitchen (odd size space) from what they had in stock.
