Why did they leave? Park Ave Pizza is an institution; it's been in town for at least 30 years and probably longer. It's the stop of choice for locals, retirees, emergency workers, and just about everyone else. They sell good pizzas and great grinders. They make the best eggplant grinder in town. Fried breaded eggplant, cheese, sauce and a toasted roll. The pizzas can be ordered from a standard menu, or you can create your own from a choice of over a dozen toppings. It's only one of two places I've ever found that offers clam pizzas.
They also make a great greek salad. Good dressing (I don't know if it's homemade or bottled) feta, kalamata olives, and croutons. The Greek side salad is big enough to be a meal in itself. The lasagna portions are big and good. If you don't want a grinder and aren't in the mood for 'za, grab this instead.

They also offer burgers and fries. Avoid them - this is a pizza / italian joint owned by a greek family. The fries came out of a bag in the freezer. They make Gyro sandwiches that I don't much care for either - odd since the place is Greek-owned. As for the desserts, I've never met anyone eating there who had room left for the desserts.

For those interested in more than food, there's a bar in the restaurant with two TVs tuned to sports channels. They have a standard selection of beers, and food is defintely served in the bar area as well.

PROS: Great grinders, good pizzas, sports bar
CONS: lousy french fries.
