Even though they got me in quickly for an appointment and they were friendly and courteous as can be...I would never tell anyone I know to go there. I had ONE painful tooth, they wanted to extract 10 of my teeth due to gum disease and fit me for partials. Total cost would be $5300. I almost went through with it but got an appointment with my regular doctor 2 days later....I have a simple gum infection and NOTHING more, I have great teeth and I have also never had a single cavity. I do believe that Aspen Dental is only in it for the $$$$ and they want all of us to be toothless and in debt...Please what ever you do, even if you have to sell jewelry to pay for a good dentist, do it. But do not get sucked in by the free anything coupons for new patients. They will get their money another way after they get you in there....They are a real scam.

When I went into the Aspen Dental office a couple weeks ago they told me that since I am a new patient that they would give me a FREE examination. I liked the place, all the accountants were nice and the dentists were even nicer. They told me that I might have to get a filling in the near future but that was no big dea...l too me and after what I thought was just a FREE exam I was on my way out the door and on another adventure haha. Well today I got a envelope in the mail that wrote ASPEN DENTAL on the top left hand corner. I opened this envelope with a curious look on my face, wondering what this could be for??? Now remember all I went into ASPEN DENTAL for was the FREE EXAM and nothing else, they told me it was FREE!!!. This is what the paper read, cough cough ( clearing my throat) Comprehensive Exam Fee $65.00, Full Mouth Series Fee $115.00, Summary $180.00!!!!!
WHAT THE FU#% ?!?!?!!?!? excuse my language, ASPEN DENTAL SUCKS!!!!!

I had work done over 2 years, still have not gotten permanent upper
dentures-my fault.Iam about to get lower dentures after extractions.
The main problem is the changing of the personell, there is always a
diffrent doc,and I have a cervical fusion so it's very touch and go.
My back&neck prevent me from keeping all my appointments.
But currently the dentist is Very good,I am waiting for the surgeon.
I require pain meds after extractions I shall demand them first before any work is done.
I understand the reluctance to give out pain meds, but I already have immense pain, but oral pain is much diffrent.
After spending some $6,000.00 I expect not to have to suffer.
I will keep you updated on the progress since it seems this place
has come under scrutiny.an accident was the initial cause of the
tooth failure and need for work.

The appointment I made on the web was a waste of time, they told me it wasn't a real appointment, and that they would squeeze me in. The on-line form was no good, had to fill in another at the office.
The coupon for a free xray was no good. They wanted $100 to examine me so that they could tell me how much between $120 and $300 on top of the $100 for the exam.....

I think Aspen Dental might have broken my jaw. I had a tooth pulled there last Thursday and I am in terrible pain still on Tuesday. I can barely open my mouth. I am going to my doctor tomorrow for x-rays.

It took two dentists and they just kept breaking and digging my tooth. I called the emergency number on Sunday and was told to come in om Monday. They said on Monday that I am fine and do not have any infection. Then why write a prescription for antibiotics. They wanted to charge me over $1200 after insurance to do a deep cleaning (that is not going to happen). They refused to do a regular cleaning.

My sister was going to go to them and I told her not to do it. I wouldn't let them treat my dogs teeth.

I agree that this place is only after the $$$. I urge anyone that has gone or is still going here to seek out a private dentist practice and have your xrays compared. I had gone there several time in the course of a few weeks to have many fillings and cleanings done. I was also one of the many told that I had periodontal disease. I didn't have any reason to not believe them so I had their cleanings and they did the filling they said I needed. Within a years time my fillings all started to fall out and i had a lot of pain in several places. I had never had trouble like this in my life before. I went to a new doctor in a private family practice and he told me that a lot of the work was done incorrectly and that a lot of decay was left under the new fillings causing them to rot further. I was also informed that i had very healthy gums and there is no gum disease at all. As a result I have lost 5 teeth in less than a year. To the supposed person with dental knowledge let me just clarify a few things for you, people may need deep cleanings and the ADA may check yearly to make sure those offices are on the up and up that does not mean that the dentists in that office is doing the job correctly. Dental work may be expensive and most are willing to pay for the work but when we do we want work that lasts and to know that our money was spent honorably. I don't expect to pay 5000 dollars only to go back to the next visit and them tell me oh well you need to spend another 5000 only after they assured me that i was all set and my teeth were just perfect now. This corporation should be shut down they are scam artists and the fact that they are using peoples health to scare them into paying isnt right. I am going through soo much trouble with my mouth all because I trusted them and now I can't afford to fix what they have done to me. This place doesn't deserve not one star and if I could I'd make it well into the negative for a rating. I'm thankful I found someone who isn't looking at my bank account but at my needs now. So people find yourself and your family a good private

worst experience ever! I never minded going to the dentist. now on the other hand, after all I've been through with Aspen Dental. It's a long story, gonna make it short.
I've been to Aspen Dental 7 times now, for the same simple filling. and you know what, they are wanting a number 8.
My first apt. the dentist was going to fix a filling on the top left and start the process of 2 crowns on the bottom. starting with the filling, he says "Oops!". I'm like hummmm....that doesn't sound so good. after having pain several times, going back and being checked and having this and that done 3x's, (on the same filled tooth) I suggested looking at the before and after x rays. (still wondering if the Oops had something to do with my pain)
Sure enough, the oops was a chipped tooth. I even asked the office manager, Cindy, if the dentist accidentally chipped my tooth, would he say anything. "OOHHH sure he would".
the next visit, #4 visit was for the filling the first dentist filled and didn't remove all the decay, #5 I believe, they fix the chipped tooth. #6 visit, they ground down a "ledge" from the previous filling, #7 or 8 will be another filling for the 3rd time in the very first filling.
I'm wondering, is there anyone in their right mind, who really wants to take this chance with Aspen Dental?

I wish I had looked online before I went to this office. Rotterdam, NY. I just left work drove like a mad woman because I was having dental pain to sit in a chair, and be told by a pipsqueak of a dentist that he can't see anything wrong with my tooth so he'll have to refer me to their specialist. They roped me into that horrible plan from care credit last year. You would think I had learned my lesson. I don't think they are real dentists. Every time you need something done you have to be referred to a specialist or come back. They find all kinds of ways to charge you for things you've never heard of in all the years going to a real dentist. That deep cleaning cost me over $600. Not to mention they told me that the IV anesthesia would be covered by my insurance for extractions and it wasn't. For the love of God people find a real dentist. Don't go to Aspen Dental. It's all a rip off.

I went to Aspen Dental a couple years ago for the cleaning and x-rays I had a coupon for. They would not allow me to get a regular cleaning I wanted and talked me into getting the deep cleaning which cost me over $1000. They put a lot of pressure on me when i told them no I just wanted a regular cleaning. I have never at any dentist previously been told I needed deep cleaning. Aspen Dental is full of crap and just wants to make $$$ and is not at all worried about their patients needs. Shawn who works at the Orange CT location is the one who just went and charged everything onto my care credit account without letting me know. He actually overcharged me $300 and I had to call and complain and get that $$ credited back. Don't go to Aspen, they suck!!!!!

The Sign READS: FREE X RAYS & EXAM for new patents. Better check your bill if you signed up for CARE CREDIT. I was charged $170.00 for the FREE Exam and X-Rays and when I called them on it, I was told it was the the patients responsibility to call the Aspen Dental 800 number and REQUEST a credit on their bill.

I see a tread in all of these "DEEP CLEANINGS", because until today, I was unaware I had periodontal disease!

I went to the Waterbury location, where I went for a simple cleaning. After waiting 25mins over what my appt originally was, I was sent to the back where the hygienist "measured" my teeth. According to this measurements I had periodontal disease which could be EASILY reversed with DEEP ROOT CLEANING! How about that!

The dentist came over, who I saw for maybe 45 seconds total who said I don't have any cavities. He then asked to speak with the hygienist in the back room. After about 2 mins, she had me out of the chair to speak with the "office manager" about what I could do about the cost of this deep cleaning! Again I said, if anything I would just like the cleaning..PLEASE.

I LOVE going to the dentist, but these people made me feel like the scum of the earth. Furthermore, they tried to make it seem like I had some urgent tooth rot situation I was not aware of!

This lady had me sit in her closet of an office, to let me know that I would NEED a prescription for antibiotics, a special rinse, and 2 other appts to complete this cleaning.

When I said that I just wanted a cleaning and wanted to speak with my parents before agreeing to an extra $300+ of procedure, she continued to tell me that she could take off some stuff to make it cheaper, she THEN told me that if I paid $66 today, she could move the rest of the cost to the NEXT appointment.

When I again refused, she pointed to the dentures and said, "If you do not get this done now, THIS will be you!"

I'm 24 and before this, I have NEVER been told that I have any kind of gum disease! I was at another dentist 6 months ago and he had nothing but great things to say!
I only came here because my insurance had this in their list.

When I again said I would like time to think about it, and that I was obviously there for cleaning, the office(SALES) manager proceeded to tell me that she would have to get "permission" from the hygienist if she still wanted to take me or not!...Excuse me??

She then said yes and to wait in the waiting room AGAIN to be seen!

At this point I was so pissed and I walked out.
They use scare tactics and high pressure to get you to pay for things you DO NOT need.

A dental mill scam. I had no idea how many others needed this "deep cleaning". I wished I looked at the reviews beforehand! It seems we all are on the verge of our teeth rotting out!

service sucks!

alright so called them in 3 weeks before hand, and then they left me a message on thursday asking me to confirm. so i called them back at around 6, and no noe answered. then on Friday, I called them back, and the lady said i have to reschedule.

what the hell... then she started flipping out on me saying that no matter what you do, i can't help you, and you just have to reschedule, and "i can't tell you why dr. lee won't be here monday. "

why do i need this appointment, well they said i had to get my teeth filled, and my dad was like whatever, just get it done, so they did lots of unnecesary drilling, and then filled it.

after the filling of two teeth, they put the stupid crap in between the two teeth so it's like 1 big ass tooth that hurts even when i'm chewing gum, and i can't floss either. havn't been able to eat on the left side for 3 weeks now, and they just cancel my appointment, what the hell is wrong with this place?

*should we sue or lets just post signs infront of their shop*

I am disappointed with the Farmington Aspen Dental office by the Sports Authority. I specifically scheduled an appointment for a cleaning. I go there and I wait over an hour only to have the dentist look in mouth and poke around with a dental instrument. I'm told to schedule another appointment for cleaning. Apparently the office does not do cleaning on the first visit. The receptionist failed to mention this when I called and specifically made an appointment for a cleaning.
To top it off they push for unnecessary dental x-rays. I refused and the dentist actually remarked that he could not clean my teeth without them. I do understand the need for annual x-rays but this was just unreal. I've never had dental problems and had x-rays within the last year. It's not like I was going in for oral surgery or something.
The staff is friendly but so what? It doesn't really mean much since they are lacking in experience and communication skills.
Also I was set back by the type of set up. I don't want to see other people getting their teeth extracted and so on and I certainly don't want anyone to see me. No real privacy.
Finally, the worst part: I heard the dentist ask the assistant to bring instruments from the microwave. Since when are instruments sterilized in a microwave?
I am actually glad my teeth were not cleaned. I will not return.

My husband went to Aspen Dental because it was on the provider list. They told him he has periodontal disease and want to do work costing over $5000. He has never been told by any other dentist that he has this problem. I wish I would have read these review before I made this appointment. They really just want money from what I've read and my husband has seen. I am cancelling his second appointment.

I went to Aspen because my husband's insurance had them as participants. When I was seen 45 minutes after my appointment, they claim I needed deep cleaning as they called it. Said I needed to remove 2 wisdom teeth that were under my gums...although they were not bothering me. They wanted to pull out one of my other tooth which they said had a cavity that was so damaged it was hitting the nerve. Which that is why I get pain. Then they said I had some what of a gum disease. I was shocked, but scared. I asked how much would it be to fix everything. $4,000 and that was without the 2 wisdom teeth being extracted, because that was oral surgery.

I went to Aspen Dental thinking they are caring people, however they are NOT. It is true they only want your money+ more money+ even more money. I would rather have my dog do work on my teeth before I let Aspen Dental take care of me. I'm just sorry I never read these reviews before going. I most certainly would of NEVER called and made an appointment with them. I now owe money to the credit people they use and did not get all the work done that I needed. The work I did get done was horrible. They made a front partial for me and when I went to get it put in it was not straight. They{Dr. Lipton} thought it was the best thing since sliced bread. HELLO, can you see very well, my front teeth you made me we so not straight I could not believe he thought they were perfect... Please NEVER NEVER go there.

I had just moved to CT and gotten a new job, I picked aspen dental because they were covered by my insurance. I went in to get an exam and schedule for a cleaning. I have never had a cavity in my life and never had any trouble with my gums. I had gone to a different dentist about 4 months earlier who told me I had no cavities and my teeth were fine. When I went in to aspen they told me I had 7 cavities and needed a periodontal cleaning because my gums were so bad, and that I also needed to have my wisdom teeth removed. Some of this was covered through my insurance but I still ended up paying over $1000 out of pocket. Even though I had gone to the other dentist, I didn't want to mess with my mouth, and I figured that if I had cavities that I should get them filled and that if i needed a "deep periodontal cleaning" that I should just do it. So, I got the 7 cavities filled and the "periodontal cleaning" (she didn't even pick the tarter out of my teeth). I went in to have my wisdom teeth pulled and they don't even sedate you.. he just started shooting my mouth with Novocaine..I left and never went back. I am still receiving bills from Aspen months after the work was done, they said that my insurance didn't cover most of the work they did. This place is HORRIBLE!! I would not recommend anyone going here ever. I am in the process of getting a medical malpractice lawyer and plan on suing them in hopes of protecting other unsuspecting consumers. They are just out to take as much money from you as possible. I will never go back there again.

They refilled every filling I've ever gotten in my entire mouth and I paid thousands out of pocket because I only had a discount dental plan or self pay. I was told all I needed at that point was a cleaning. Then I got insurance. They told me I couldn't get a regular cleaning and needed a periodontal cleaning, ka-ching. The regular cleaning would have cost me nothing. Periodontal would cost me $200. Then, one of the fillings fell out after a year. First they tried to tell me they never did that filling when I know they did - they left me with no teeth unrefilled. Then Dr. Lipton agreed and told me they would refill it - later Shawn (the money guy) told me there would be no charge so I requested an appt specifically with Dr. Lipton to get it refilled few weeks later. When I came back few weeks later to get it refilled I did not get Lipton. A different dentist Lee told me he had to take xrays because I might need a root canal and they refused to just refill the filling!!!!! I got a copy of my dental records and high tailed it out of there. Unfortunately, I feel a lot of the refilled fillings were probably totally unnecessary and now I have to find a dentist quick to fix the filling they messed up. DO NOT GO THERE!!!

Not overly impressed with the staff. Very unprofessional. The doctors seemed knowledgable about certain issues, but Aspen seems to take your for granted and your entire wallet.

I went to Aspen Dental in Orange CT because it was one that I had picked out of my "provider" list from my dental insurance at work. Although it is great location, easy to get to and the hours of operation are convenient I will never go there again. I waited and waited (about 45 minuted after my appt. time). Once I saw the dentist who looked like he was fresh out of "dental" school he explained the work I would need on my teeth. Which was a total of about $5,000 not including what my dental would pay for. Mind you I went in for a check up. The reception sits you down to talk about payment plans!! I was still in shock and refused to sign any payment plans for the "work that needed to be done".
I never went back to that dental group. I decided to go to one that was not on my "provider" list. Which I still use today. I felt like Aspen dental was out to get every $ possible from me and my insurance benefits. I would say they are expensive! I didnt like anything about my visit and they specialize in taking advantage of benefits!

PROS: Location and flexible hours
CONS: unprofessional and very expensive
