The International Spy Museum has some interesting exhibits but some are difficult to see, especially when it's crowded, which it always is. Admission is controlled and tickets must be purchased. It's not the place for young children. Most of the exhibits are geared towards adults. They have a great gift shop. I am bothered having to pay for admission when the Smithsonian is so close by and free.

We live right outside DC so we don't do touristy things too often-but I love this museum. It is a great place for kids and adults. The only bad part is that it is one of the few museums in DC that you have to pay for...and it still has long lines during school breaks.

At the end of the museum's tour you are left in the gift shop. Normally this is an annoying distraction, but the Spy Museum's store offers a wide selection of gadgets that are fun to check out. You can even purchase a lock picking kit, (and watch a video on how to pick locks on the tour).

This is the gift shop which is attached to the Internaional Spy Museum. You get to it at the end of the Museum tour, but you can also enter from the street.

This is a fairly large niche-shop dealing with, of course, spy stuff. I felt like a 12 yr old kid trapped in a 48 yr old body. Oh what marvelous stuff they have!

You can pick up the usual souvenir kinda stuff here such as ball caps and t-shirts, but they also have a ton of very cool Spy stuff. These range from the toy level to the high-dollar actually-working tools of the trade. I sooo want one of those tiny spy cameras in a watch, but $370 was a bit much for me that day. I'll have to go back....

There's books, and movies, and computer programs galore. You can even get the kids training young with a fingerprint kit for about $12.

This is a great place to wander in awe, but bring plenty of money, or a nice credit line. Most things here do not come cheap.

PROS: Awesome items
CONS: a bit high priced
