This book store is perfectly located within a train / metro station. The bookstore is a limited, but has a wide variety of topics/sections. There isn't a place you can take a book, sit down and start reading. The space is limited, but it would have been nice if it had one or two sofas to sit. There are a lot of interesting books on Washington DC, especially for tourists or those that have been here for a while.

PROS: great location
CONS: limited space, no sofas

It's every book lover's worst nightmare: you're running for the Metro, already a few minutes late meeting a friend five stops away, and there - just in front of the entrance to the Metro in Union Station is a big, beautiful, brightly-lit bookstore. In this case, said bookstore is B. Dalton Bookseller.

This store is larger than most, about three times the size of most of the shops in Union Station. The books are grouped in categories to make it easy to find what you're looking for, however, be it a new release, periodical, mystery, romance, or most anything else. There is a staggering number of books in this store, and of course, it won't always be easy to find exactly what you're after when you're in a hurry. Luckily, store employees are friendly and happy to assist you in finding the right book, although because of crowding it is sometimes difficult to locate a staff member.

The location of this bookstore couldn't be better for frequent Metro riders who board at Union Station; it takes only a few minutes to dart in, grab a book or a newspaper, and be on your way to wherever the Metro will take you. However, for those who love to read and are forced to pass by on a regular basis, it can be not only tempting, but downright expensive.

PROS: Huge, clean store; neatly arranged by category; friendly staff.
CONS: N/A
