For many years, I've been going to Salon Nuance to have my hair cut by owner Chris Rosenthal. Besides being a skilled stylist he listens keenly to what I want and communicates how he is going to cut and style my hair to deliver the look I am seeking.

I started going to Chris about 8 months ago. He listened well to exactly what I wanted, and for the first time in about 10 years, I got the bangs I have been asking for. He seemed to see the potential that I saw--and then made my hair look even better! Writing this review is reminding me I need to schedule an appt with him today!

I have been going to Chris for 10 years for my cuts and highlights. He pays close attention to what I ask for and he delivers. It is well worth the trip into the District from Virginia to have Chris take care of my hair. As a side note, he is almost always right to the minute in terms of appointment times, and that is very different from the other salons I used to visit.

Aisha Hoffman is one of the very best stylist and color experts I have ever had. Finding a professional stylist you can trust and will take the time to understand what you want is very hard to find -- Aisha is a gem. The compliments I have received from family and friends on my hair color, my cut, etc. have been many and I don't hesitate to recommend her to anyone needing help or just a hair styling. She is a true professional and a very warm and friendly individual.

My mother-in-law gave me the gift of a block of time at Salon Nuance with Chris Rosenthal for Christmas! Chris listened carefully, paid attention to my personal style and then did his magic! I walked away with a fabulous haircut and highlights that I've been able to easily maintain at home! If I didn't live several states away, I'd be a faithful client!!

I am so happy with my hair! This evening, I had all-over highlights and cut with stylist Chris Rosenthal and I am so pleased with how my hair turned out. I feel like a hair model straight out of a magazine ad. Just as importantly, Chris was dedicated a solid block of time to working on my hair and only my hair so at no point, did I feel like just another number. I definitely recommend Salon Nuance and Chris for great hair and a great experience!

I started going to Chris about a year ago after my old stylist cut my bangs too short and always seemed too busy to cut my hair correctly. Even though Chris is the owner you never feel like he has anything going on in that moment other than to cut your hair. He took an ok style and made it fabulous. He always listens to what you want and knows how to make you look great, time after time. You always leave his chair looking like a movie star!

I started going to Chris about five years ago when my office was at Metro Center. When I changed jobs to a new office near Foggy Bottom I started going to other hairdressers that were more conveniently located. It took almost three years of trying to find a place that I was as happy with, but I've finally learned my lesson - the other week I found myself walking 20 minutes in the rain for a haircut at Salon Nuance rather than going to a nearer salon, and it's well worth it. Chris does a fantastic job and runs a professional first-class establishment with a great staff.

I've been going to Chris for over 11 years for both hair cut and color. He is fantastic! He's very sensitive to his client's needs, stays abreast of new products, procedures and techniques and really knows the science behind his craft. He's innovative yet understands and appreciates the conservative undertones of the DC style. Moreover, he's a great, down-to-earth person who is fun to talk to while he's doing my hair.Over the years I've gotten to know his wife Devon, as well. Together, they are a wonderful couple and it's always a pleasure to be in the salon with the other great employees that make up their team.

Chris is an excellent hairstylist for both color and cut/styling. He worked with me to customize my hair color. The results were amazing and complemented my skin tone to perfection. He gives the best blow out I have ever had in my life. I never knew my hair could have so much volume. His wife, Devin, is also very good with color. She does excellent highlights and lowlights. I highly recommend this salon. They offer you complimentary beverages and the staff is very friendly. You will not be disappointed!

I've been going to Salon Nuance for several years and have my hair cut by Chris Rosenthal, the owner. Chris always listens carefully to what I want and masterfully employs his tradecraft. I have never been disappointed with the way my hair looks when I leave, and top quality products are sold to maintain it that way. The staff is always courteous, friendly, and accommodating. The salon hours are convenient. It is always an enjoyable experience.

Getting your haircut by Chris is like being addicted to crack. You have to keep going to him forever because no other haircut will compare. He's been cutting my hair for over ten years and I have always been very pleased. I'm just thankful I can still afford it because otherwise I would have to convince him to take my neighbor's power tools as payment.

I've been getting my haircut by Christopher Rosenthal for at least ten years now. He does a fantastic job cutting a fashionable man's haircut. The price is more than you would pay at a mall or something, but you are not getting a mail haircut. You are getting excellent service from his entire staff, a glass of wine, and seriously, the best hair cut I've ever had. Check Chris and Salon Nuance just once and you'll be hooked.

I have been getting my hair highlighted, cut, and blown out by Chris Rosenthal for the past year. He does an amazing job every time I go there for a blowout-- either to have super sleek or with romantic waves/curls which averages about once every two weeks. I personally recommend him and his salon. They even carry Guinot which is a high-end skin care line developed in France. Not only does he listen and follows through with his clients' needs, but he, himself, is super friendly and kind, while delivering superior results. I always leave Salon Nuance with a beaming smile on my face and receive numerous compliments on the street once I step out of the salon with a fresh blowout. Thank you to Chris and Devon in making their salon well worth the experience!

I've been going to Chris for many years and he is the only one who gets my strange hair to look great. I cheated on him once and regretted it very much! He's very good at listening to what you'd like the finished product to look like, plus spending a half hour with him is very enjoyable. He's great and I recommend him highly.

The results have been amazing .He has totally reshaped and restyled my hair from the drab and ordinary to a stylish and professional look.The staff is great. Everyone greets you and asks you what you been up to since your last visit.Service too - drinks ,coffee.etc.Fun and easy to converse with Chris about anything;family, vacations,job,politics.- the time flys by.Good place -good people.

I primarily see Chris for my cuts and color, although I've also seen Devin. They are both professional, friendly, and best of all, WONDERFUL stylists.
The salon itself is a relaxing environment.

Plus, he's hysterical - has the greatest stories - and I actually enjoy the time I spend getting my hair done. I would recommend him to anyone, and I wouldn't go anywhere else.

Chris Rosenthal is a great stylist and colorist. He has always done a great job of giving me highlights that look natural and go well with my darker skin tone. He also gives great haircuts - it's definitely evident that he has years of experience. Everyone in the salon is very friendly and professional - I'd highly recommend Chris and Salon Nuance.

I've gone to Chris a few times now and each time is better than the last. I just received a fantastic cut. It's shorter, so I was a bit wary, but Chris seemed to know exactly what I wanted and made it happen. It looks great and is so manageable on my own! Chris at Salon Nuance gives me the best color and cut I've ever had. He's the only stylist I could find who would do highlights on top of blonde color.... and it works well - catching the sunlight very nicely. His cut is excellent, complementing the color and highlights. I just got an updated style and it looks terrific. After going through several stylists in DC, I'm so satisfied I've found someone who is great to work with and makes me look great when I go out the door.

It always looked very natural and heathly. Chris always has a good recomedation for a good haircut. He would listed to what you want and he will recommend as well, if you don't really know what to do. Everybody is very nice at the salon. It's a pleasure to go there!

Over a month ago I decided I wanted extensions for my wedding. After being recommended by a friend I met with Christopher! He did an amazing job with my extensions, it was the first time I had ever had long hair and I felt glamourous. It took a long time to have them put in but Christopher and his wife kept me entertained. Everyone commented on how natural the extensions were, and I loved them! I was extremely happy with the results and the cost! Also both women that shampood my hair did an amazing job! I would definitely recommend Salon Nuance and Christopher Rosenthal.

When I first came to DC a year ago, I was looking for a dependable and reputable stylist and colorist in a convenient location. I did not look very far before discovering Chris Rosenthal at Salon Nuance near Metro Center.

I was willing to pay a slightly higher price for a certain level of excellence, but I also didn't want to break the bank; I wanted a hospitable environment, a salon not so busy that I'd need to book months ahead of time, but most importantly a trustworthy, creative, and skilled person to cut and color my hair.

Chris is a good listener and responds to the need of the client whether that's a maintenance haircut or a new look. His haircuts are classy and fashionably mainstream. For my medium length hair, the blow dry afterwards always looks sultry and natural...I always make sure to have plans that night since I know my hair will look beautiful. I have loved my partial foils because of the depths of the colors and the strategic placements for when they grow in.

I highly and confidently rate Chris 5 stars!

Chris has been cutting my hair for I don't know how long. He does a phenomenal job as the other reviews say. I used to have long shaggy hair and when I was finally ready to cut it, I had a style in mind. Chris, not in so many words, said he knew what I needed and gave me the cut I adore. It's wonderful & he was exactly right. I've sent two friends to him & they were happy too. But what I really want to mention is that he is such an interesting guy! I suffered thru small talk with other stylists who only want to talk about the latest paparazzi fodder. Chris has got a lot more going on upstairs & I always enjoy our wide ranging conversations.

Chris Rosenthal has been my stylist for a year now and I feel confident in recommending him as the best in DC!

I had been to other stylists and either none is as good as Chris!

He is great with mens hair and is very up to date on current trends but also can do classic cuts as well.

The Salon is centrally located in downtown DC (13th and G NW) and is a relaxing environment.

If you are looking for an excellent stylist that is courteous and highly skilled, look no further than Chris Rosenthal at Salon Nuance.

Chris is excellent! For the last eight years he's colored and styled my hair. Through the years his work has been consistent, while periodically recommending possible changes. For the last year I've lived overseas and lemented having to entrust my hair to someone else. So, when I'm back in DC it's great to return to the salon! Equally satisfying, the the staff are very professional, while friendly and warm. I highly recommend Chris and his very capable staff to your locks!

I have had my hair cut and colored by some of the finest stylists along the Eastern Coast and can honestly say that Christopher is the best of the best. He listens carefully to what I want but also makes recommendations and has great instinct as to what looks best on me, both with the cut and color. I have never had so many compliments on my cut and color and absolutely love my hair now. I cannot say enough good things about Chris and it is a pleasure to go to his salon, where the staff is also delightful. You will not be disappointed if you go to Chris.

Whenever I am in the Washington area, I find a way to make time to go to the Nuance Salon and get a perfect, clean straight lines haircut from Chris. I have found and my hair stylist, finally! Christopher has been taking care of my hair for the last year. He is a true professional. He is a fabulous colorist and he can cut all kinds of hair. I have never left Salon Nuance without feeling satisfaction.
This place is expensive but worth every nickel. After going to Chris, I wouldn't think of going elsewhere. I also like the fact the the salon is multicultural, this salon can take care of anyone who walks through the door. The salon represents the best that DC has to offer.

Devin Rosenthal of Salon Nuance has been doing my hair for the past year and a half. She is terrific. I am always thrilled with my cut and color. She does the BEST highlights I have ever had. Frankly, I'm very picky about highlights and have often been disappointed in the past, but Devin does a great job. I'm very glad a coworker recommended her to me. The salon is also very nice, too.

I have, on two separate occasions called to make an appointment at Salon Nuance. Once I was told that they didn't have anyone to do African American hair. (I have no idea, how, over the phone ethnicity was determined.) That was about 3 years ago. I decided to try again (4-30-2008; 11:32 a.m.) thinking that things had changed. This time the individual that answered the phone tried to dissuade me from making an appointment and when I wouldn't relent she said, "What kind of hair do you have?" In conclusion, Salon Nuance, I got the message. You've lost a potential repeat client that works three blocks from your salon who is looking for a stylist. Alas, I won't be calling again

I tried a lot of hair colorists and stylists while living in DC. After my experience with Aisha, I stopped looking. Although I now live 3 hours from DC (and tried other local salons), I now travel there for Aisha to do my hair every other month. She's worth the trip and so is all of the staff at Salon Nuance. As noted by another reviewer, although the salon is situated in the heart of DC, it is not stuffy or uptight, and the high level of personal attention is consistent.

Christopher Rosenthal has been my colorist and stylist for the past four years. He is the best in the business! Chris listens patiently to my ideas and offers helpful suggestions. He is the best colorist that I have ever had, and I tried a number of salons in DC before a friend recommended Chris. Chris perfectly colors my hair so that it looks natural. His cut is precise and perfectly styled, and even if I'm a little late on my usual 5 week trims, my hair still looks fine. I always feel like a million bucks after he has worked his magic on my hair! I have had many friends and co-workers comment on how nice my hair looks after a visit to Salon Nuance. The Salon staff are all very friendly from the receptionist to the shampoo ladies. The Salon is immaculately clean, the wait is always short, and the complimentary drinks are a welcoming touch. I have recommended Chris to several friends, and they have also been very happy with his services. As far as value goes, I don't believe you can find a more reasonably priced salon in downtown DC given the convenient location near Metro Center and the high calibre of stylists working at Salon Nuance.

Chris Rosenthal is 5 stars plus. I've been using him for several years. I have curly hair and he knows how to cut and style to maximize the type of hair I have. Recently I had a medical situation and he worked with me and my "alternative hair" to give me the same look. As my hair has grown back he has styled and colored it to look terrific. He is a great stylist and colorist. World Class is the correct rating as he knows how to manage both hair and clients expectations. He's simply the best.

Chris has been my colorist/stylist for two years. After leaving Manhattan, I shopped around to find a salon that I would like as much as the one I left there. Salon Nuance offered the perfect balance of friendly atmosphere and quality service. I feel great after I visit Chris, and friends and family tell me that my hair has never looked better. I highly recommend this salon.

I have been going to Chris for about five years now - and missed him desperately when I was away in Rome for almost two. I recently contemplated hair extensions for my fine hair which seems to take forever to grow. I put my trust in Chris, and I have to say, after one month of these I have a hard time remembering what my hair was like before. The color and texture are unbelievably natural (he has given me the best color job ever!), and based on my extensive internet research beforehand, I know he is a true artist. If you're going to have the extensions, you want someone who loves putting them in because it requires a level of patience and detail not everyone has. These extensions are probably the best you could get at any price. Apart from this, Chris is just an all around nice guy, easy to talk to, no attitude AT ALL, which makes it easy to ask for what you want. I trust him 100%, because he knows me and my hair and doesn't try to give me a cut that makes me look conservative, which I'm absolutely allergic to. In addition, the wait is never long and the staff is very helpful. Chris and Salon Nuance are a true find!

I have been going to Salon Nuance for over 5 years now and I have never been happier with my hair! Christopher Rosenthal is awesome! I have short, thick, frizzy hair and he is the best at making it look fabulous! 4 years ago I wanted to make a change and we started coloring my hair blonde and I have to say, Blondes do have more fun! I can not believe the number of compliments I receive on my hair. Not a day goes by that someone doesn't stop me to tell me how great my hair looks. Some days I get 5 or 6 people stopping me to say my hair looks great! Even though my office has moved to Maryland, I still go back to DC to get my hair done, it's so worth it! Thank you Chris for making me look so hip and fabulous!

Christopher has always done a beautiful job with my hair. He listens and makes me happy. His color work is fantastic and I get many complements. I recently decided to get hair extensions for my fine hair and I cannot believe what he did for me. My hair has always been limp and unable to be long or have any volume but with the hair extensions it is thick and luxurious and even the color is a perfect match. No one knows what I did but they just keep telling me how great I look. I will never go back to my plain hair. From now on I will have the hair I always wished I had. I was nervous at first because I had heard hair extensions were very obvious and could be seen from across the street but the bonds Christopher did are so small that not only can they not be seen but I can barely feel them in my head. I am so happy. Christopher Rosenthal is the greatest stylist and I am so glad I found him.

I've been around, but I've always come back to Chris at Salon Nuance. I'll describe what you'll experience:
Short wait while browsing top-of-the-line products
Sit down with stylist, who offers you a drink
You drink and relax
The stylist asks what you want and actually listens, offers advice, then when you come to a decision together, you have your hair professionally washed.
Afterwards,the sylist starts the work, stopping every once in a while to ask questions about progess (indeed, I've even seen Chris take notes after a cut).
After going there for seven years, there is only one time I was unhappy, but when I look back, I had several chances for a fix, but I was in a hurry. In other words, realistically, I'd say you're in for a 95% satisfaction rate (an A+).
No doubt, this is the best salon in the city. No attitude, no superficial stylists, just people who like their job. Plus, it's locally owned by husband and wife, so going there feels like you're part of something special. I hope my review helps you, and I recommend talking to Chris or his wife about what you want before you get it, and they will hook you up with exactly what you're looking for. Enjoy!

This is to the lady twin that made a negative remark about Tony's service. No on was rude to you, remember in the future to make a appointment. You were a walk-in and there is no way someone can hot curl your hair in 15 minutes. We do not have microwave curling irons.
Attention don't believe the hype people Tony is fabulous.

I fear hearsalons more than dentists!! But I have no fears at Salon Nuance. I happened upon this salon many years ago and got the best cut and color I ever had. I asked for there advice on what to do and I had never looked better. Unfortunately I moved away 4 years ago to Seattle and have not been able to find a great salon. I am going for a trip to DC and the first stop I am making is Salon Nuance.
