I received a gift cert. for a present for a mani/pedi & massage. I scheduled the appt. weeks in advance and was looking forward to my visit to Oriental Oasis. Oh well, my appt. was @ 11 am and arrived early. I noticed the two at the recep. desk seemed unorganized and scrambling around with the appt. book. At 11 I approaced the desk to inquire about the my aappt. I was told someone would be with me shortly. As I continued to wait, walk-in customers would been seen immediately. Finally, my turn came up and the massage was first which was good and relaxing. Then I waited for my mani/pedi. One of the Nail Technicians child was running throughout the salon. My pedi was first and the area for pedicures was dirty and sloppy. I attempted to close my eyes and rest which I could not do because the technician next to me started singing in her native language and talking constantly :-( My experience at the so called spa was horrible and I will not return. I prefer high end spas although you pay more to me, it is well worth the $$. As the saying go you pay for what you get. I would not recommend this place to my cocker spaniel, even he deserves better ;-)

I go back over and over to the Oriental Oasis because of the massages I get from Vera. She is outstanding. I told my brother about her and he went and now he has standard visits with her. I would tell anyone who can appreciate a good massage to definitely get one from Vera. She is also a very nice person and I trust her completely to give me a good massage each and every time. Quite satisfied!

I wanted to like this place. I have gone several times (8). Each time the service was mediocre to poor. From waiting anywhere from 45 mins to 1 1/2 hours over my hair appointment time (yes, had an appointment) to being double charged and having to go back and prove it from my bank statement. It views itself as a highend, upscale salon but...I have purchased products that were expired and listened to rough conversations from "some" of the loud staff and their clients. It can be ghetto. The stylist of choice is a gentleman by the name of Vernon. Talks to you about your hair, asking questions about your lifestyle, etc. to understand what you want and or need. He does not talk you to death and respects if you are reading while he works his magic. Admittedly though he is the one who has had me waiting when I had an appointment. Several times, I have had to reschedule and leave as a result. The prices do not support the quality of care at the salon. Although I would pay Vernon a million bucks elsewhere. Overall, I would not recommend. The management either doesn't have a clue or care about the state of their salon.

I have being going to Oriental Oasis now for more than 6 years....moving from Atlanta to Maryland...back to Atlanta and now living in Atlanta and working in Arlington certainly brings me back to Oriental Oasis....I admit to being addictive to this place...can't think of going anywhere else....no place other than Oriental Oasis enters my mind...My experience getting my hair taken care of in Atlanta has truly been a great experience....My experience getting my hair taken care of in Washington, DC at the Oriental Oasis as also been an even more greater experience...you see, I get to eat my cake and have my ice-cream too. I particularly goes to Oriental Oasis to see my Rhon...yes, my Rhon as everyone else characterize him....Rhon is an expert when it comes to taking care of your hair...Rhon takes his time taking care each of his clients hair. Rhon treats his customers with lots of love.....when Rhon works with his clients he takes his time (make sure you have nothing else planned for that day) to give them the quality hair care you pay for....It is always worth tipping his assistants because they too are darling angels.....I love visiting Oriental Oasis because of the environment, the atmosphere is one that is friendly and warm....the owners are always courteous and happy to serve you....There is always a smile to greet the clients upon entering the front door. When you early....no need to worry....you are taken care of and don't have to stand outside the door. I enjoy the manicures and pedicures from Kim and others when she is not around....I can always leave the Oriental Oasis feeling like the Queen that I am...I enjoy looking at the different hairstyles that comes through the salon....the music is great...you can't help but to nod every now and then....just as I stated....the atmosphere is so relaxing and warm...The clients are always so friendly and never a dull moment....Rhon always have plenty of clients so when you go....like I said....be ready to spend the day......or else...What can I say? Thanks to the Oriental Oasis....I am sending out Kudos to all your staff, the owners and including your clients....Thanks to Rhon for being the person that you are caring, gentle and dynamic....time spent at the Oriental Oasis is worth every nickel and dime...Why not give it a try? Should you go in charming and with the right attitude...believe me...you will leave out feeling just as lovelier as you did going in...smiles

I've only gone to the Oriental Oasis for massages and I've had very good experiences. I've had a young Thai woman and a young Russian man and both were excellent, trained, and thorough. They both mixed deep muscle massage with Swedish and other techniques. I can't speak to any of the other services and I think the prices are a bit high, but their massage services are great.

I stopped in here to get my hair washed and blown out. I was happy the salon took me as a walk-in and I only had to wait about 15 minutes. The stylist, whose name I didn't catch, seemed nice enough, and offered to trim the dead ends off my hair before blow drying. She quickly washed my hair and gave me a trim, which was about the quality of service I would expect from Hair Cuttery or Great Clips. The blow dry was fine, and overall there was nothing special about the experience. The kicker, though, was at the end, when I was charged a full SEVENTY dollars for this mediocre experience. I typically pay $70 for a precision haircut at my usual salon (Demian in Adams Morgan), and I was definitely NOT expecting to pay that much for just a trim. I suppose I should've asked for the price before agreeing to the trim, but I never imagined I would be charged that much. I will not be going back to this salon again, under any circumstances.

I've been going to this salon since 2006. Service varies GREATLY from stylist to stylist and technicians. I find the waxing and manicurist services okay - its possible to fine better services else where. The stylist who does my hair, Vernon, is very professional. He takes excellent care of my scalp, is fabulous with color and cuts with precision. I also appreciate the fact that he doesn't try to talk your head off or try to bore you with some of the pretension, bragging or self-promotion of other stylists (however, some of the other stylist's clientele can be very loud in their bragging - typical neighborhood salon).

I was overcharged for a poor-quality bikini wax. When I asked why I was being charged more than the advertised rate I was told to go ask the technician, who had disappeared. There was no apology or explanation. Dismissive, impolite front-desk staff and rushed services.

This is in regards to getting hair done. I am one of the most practical, polite and easy going individuals you can ever meet. So to take to the time to write a review says a lot about my experience [plus, this seemed like the only way to reward any person who takes the time to research a salon prior to going]. Overall, just an unsatisfactory experience: from the rough treatment of my hair, to the cleanliness of the station I was at, to the overall personality problem of the person who did my hair. If you are thinking of going, let me be your test subject: I would advise against going.

I go to Oriental Oasis for one reason, and that is to see my hairdresser Rhon. He is an excellent hairdresser. He serves mostly women of color, but he has customers of all different ethnicities with various hair textures. His use of color is amazing. I've been Rhon's customer for 3 and a half years, and I've never been disappointed. So why didn't I give them 5 stars? No place is perfect. The price is expensive. It's a busy salon, so you end up spending hours there although it's always worth it. The nail services are adequate, but not world class. My eyebrow waxes are ok to fantastic depending on the person who does it. Like I said, Rhon is the only reason I go to Oriental Oasis. I can get better nail and waxing services elsewhere.

Over the past year I've been getting my hair done and eyebrows waxed at the Oriental Oasis and so far I've had a positive experience with them. It's true that the haircut is $40... but aside from the styled cut that you want it includes shampoo, hair dry & if you want curls or have your hair straightened. I believe that if you're a first-time customer you have to be aware of their prices (which are listed in their brochures) and be specific with what you want so in the end you would not be shocked at what you're paying. As for the staff.... there's a lot of them in there. Each hairstylist have their specialty (prior to setting up my first appointment with them... the receptionist asked if I was white, black or Asian so they can pick the stylist for me that specializes with Asian hair). Nancy, the woman who specializes in waxing is very friendly and courteous. She waxed my eyebrows and did a very good job at it. I'd pick a $15 eyebrow wax here at the Oasis than go to another salon that charges $25 for it and does a poor job.Reasons why I go to Oriental Oasis: location, price and service.

I have had good and bad experiences in Oriental Oasis. I like this place, because I am happy to see the staff! But even for the price, I think the quality is not always a hundred percent! Last time I went, I was ver y disappointed with the service, I paid almost $60 for a manicure and new acrylic set and after 1 day a nail already broke off and also the french nail polish looked very unprfoessional.
I still have a gift certificate and I will give them another chance and will decide than. Again the staff is very nice.

I went to the Oriental Oasis last week for a manicure and a hair cut. I was asked to wait 30 minutes while the manicurist argued with her boyfriend on the phone. The manicure was not the best I've had. The hair cut was ok. All in all, I wouldn't have gone all the way to DC for a decent haircut and a so-so manicure. There are a lot more local places that do a better job at both. Wouldn't go there again. The only attraction was the price.

The oriental oasis has a lovely website--which is what convinced me buy my girlfriend a gift certificate for her birthday. Unforutunately, the real-life experience didn't match up with the lovely pictures on the website. The staff were rude and inconsiderate. The manicurist was abrasive and left my friend alone for 30 minutes while with no explanation. The layout of the spa has a crowded and choatic feeling-- there's no separation between the loud bustling hairdressing area and rest of the services. This isn't really a day spa, it's more a neighborhood hairdresser. There were certainly lots of people getting their hair done, but this isn't the place to go for a massage or a relaxing facial.

PROS: cheap
CONS: but you get what you pay for
