Ace Nail Salon

Just had mani and pedi over the weekend and thought it was good overall in terms of services and the ladies who works there. They were very friendly and professional. I will definitely re-visit. Also, since it's located near Dupont Circle, its easy access is very convenient.

I am surprised to read negative reviews. I've never seen anything like that happen in all the years I've been going. I used to go once a week, but I've been out of town for awhile and just went back today after about a year. I have gotten manicures and pedicures. My nails last longer than when I've gone to other salons. The staff is very warm and friendly. The price today was $12 for a manicure. I'd suggest folks give them a try.

My recent visit to this salon was excellent. I had my manicure and pedicure done and the price and the service were great. I liked their comfortable massage chair. It was very relaxing while I was getting pedicure done. Overall, the service was good and they were friendly. Id highly recommend this nail salon.

Honestly, I joined this message board just to write this review. I get manicures all the time, and am accustomed to mediocre jobs, no big deal. But my sister and I went here on Saturday and had some of the worst service either of us ever experienced.
The pedicure tubs were unclean, the instruments were used on both of us, which is unsterile, and worse, though there was no one else there and we had an appointment, my manicurist was so slap-dash and rushed she left my nails jagged and uneven (not exagerating. some had sharp edges and unfiled cracks) and got extremely pissed when i politely asked her to correct them. She then proceeded to cut me twice, begin painting immediately so the blood literally bubbled up through the nailpolish and give me a polish job that left more nailpolish on the skin of my fingers than on my fingernails where it was streaky and uneven, with missed spots at the tip. When we walked out and my sister looked at my nails she actually laughed out loud. we wanted to take pics to show but I don't know how to load them here.

Anyway, seriously, stay away. There are only two who work there regularly so it's not like you can go and get a different manicurist than we had. If you paid me $1000, i would not go back here.

I have acrylic nails and have been to many nail salons in the area. Ace Nail was by far the worst experience I have ever had. My nails looked awful, the French Manicure looked like something a first grader had done, and the woman rubbed my nail to see if it was dry, damaging the tip, and then got angry at ME! I almost cried they were so mean. To make matters worse, the products they used were so cheap, the part I had gotten "filled" peeled off three days later. I had to have my nails removed AND a new set put on because of their shoddy workmanship, costing me well over $100 in the end. I will never, ever, ever go back.

I have nothing bad to say about this place, but I've only been there two times. I don't get anything fancy, just a simple manicure, once I think with french nails. I can't speak for much else, but they don't charge a lot, and they do get you out in time even during a busy lunch hour. Those kinds of things usually aren't my thing, but occasionally, it's nice to get some pampering (never gotten a pedicure or anything). Can't say much else on them since I've only been there twice, but they are clean and professional and get the job done without much fuss. I'd recommend them.

While not as cheap as a street manicure/pedicure in NYC, this small nail salon is still a great bargain for those who want a good manicure and pedicure without paying the outrageous sums charged by most DC salons. The going rate for a manicure is $15 and pedicure is $25 (as of May 2005).

Located on the lowest level of a row house in Dupont Circle, this salon just added massage chairs to its pedicure stations, and they always provide an interesting variety of up-to-date entertainment and fashion magazines, such as People, Entertainment Weekly, Vogue, etc.

If you want your manicure or pedicure to last longer than a week, definitely bring your own higher quality polish as the offerings at the salon won't do the job.

CONS: You get what you pay for...
