This is a great little treasure! I literally come here every time to get my nails done. Mr. Nguyen he does a great job on my nails. Thank you so much!! The owner and staff are so friendly, and EXTREMELY professional. I can't say enough about the cleanliness of the salon, as well as the tools they use. The staff is patient, and efficient. I will definitely be back many times. I almost hate to write a review because I don't want this wonderful little secret to get out. But, with a gem like this, they deserve it!

I got the best haircut of my life from Lisette at Piaf Salon & Day Spa. She took the photo I brought in and analyzed my facial shape and structure, giving me a phenomenal new style. Since Lisette is a pro, I got a top of the line cut for a great price.

I go to Piaf Salon & Day Spa for my facials. The estheticians are great and they seem to have a real desire to make my face look as good as possible. In other words, they care as much as I do about my face. Last week I tried a mani+pedi and the girl did an awesome job. I simply love this place. It's a hidden gem.

I went today to get my roots repaired, and she transformed my hair into the best (slash shiniest slash most luxurious) hair it can be. The relaxer was super gentle (not even the slightest tingle!), and her assistant/shampoo dude seriously has magic hands (he even dried my ears between rinses! It's the little things :)

I got my haircut by Lisette. She was a really nice and she made the time at the salon enjoyable. She listened to what I said I wanted and She did not try to convince me to do anything I didn't want (like cut off more hair). The haircut I got also grew out great, which is really important to me. I wasn't disappointed and will definitely be making another appointment soon!

I recently came into to Piaf Salon for the first time with a friend. We both got the package 6 deal which included a 45 minute facial followed by a 45 minute swedish massage. The facial made my face feel brand new! My face was more soft and smooth than I can ever remember. And the massage was unbelievable! They took out all my knots and massaged over it to relax my muscles from the pain of it. They were so gentle and knew exactly what they were doing. I would recommend Piaf to anyone that wants to feel pampered and relaxed with a great price!

I let one of my beauty school friends cut my hair, and it was a disaster. I was so sad. I called and made an appointment to get my hair fixed. I was sure that my hair was ruined from the cut. I was surprised that I loved my short bob that I got. I am now growing my hair back out, but Piaf really made me happy. Thank you.

Mora, you have changed my life! My life is much easier because it doesn't take 2 hours to do my hair. Now it takes me 15 minutes to wash, blow dry and style my hair. Now everyone tells me I look fabulous and they love my new look!

I went in to Piaf Salon & Day Spa recently for a girly day at the spa. A few of my good friends and I went in for manicures & pedicures along with a 60 minute massage. I couldn't be happier!! I felt so rejuvenated from their services, I seriously felt like I was on cloud 9! I thought the staff was wonderful and I'm looking forward to my next visit!

Let me tell you about the best kept secret in D.C....Jennifer at Piaf Salon, is simply an artist when it comes to makeup and eyelash extensions. I just moved to D.C. and was stressing about my makeup for my wedding. I booked an appointment at Piaf for a consultation and a makeup trial. I was ushered into a small treatment room and was surprised at how relaxing the whole experience was. I was going out that evening and wanted know what my friends thought about my makeup. Every one of them told me how beautiful I looked. Sold!
I wanted to get eyelash extensions and she told me that she did that service too. Jennifer did them a week before my wedding so I could get used to them. While they really make my eyes stand out, they still look natural. I am not a high maintenance person, so I love the convenience of my new lashes.
The day of my wedding I was crazy with nervousness so I was happy to have some 'me' time, in her little room. She had such a soothing voice I immediately calmed down. (She even showed me some valuable makeup tips that I use now when I apply my own makeup.) I am always worried about being photographed, but I look so gorgeous in my wedding pictures, I couldn't believe that was me.
It was well worth the price and I can't wait till next month when I get a facial with my very own beauty guru, Jennifer!

I first learned about Piaf when I took advantage of Spa Week and had a massage and facial for $50 each. I have been addicted since! I get EVERYTHING done there. I get stopped all the time especially for my lashes...but I don't dare tell anyone that they are not mine. ;)

I recommend Lisette for cuts, Mai for Lash extensions, Keit for nails, Debbie for facials and waxing and Donald for Massage.

I've been going to Piaf for 3 years now, and I'm disappointed to hear so many bad reviews about it. I've never had my hair cut here, which seems to be the hugest problem with Piaf but facials and lash extensions are the way to go with Mai.

I have very full but very short lashes and after Mai introduced me to extensions, they are to die for. My lashes are so long and curly, I'm forever hooked! Definitely recommend her for all my girlfriends and they love her too.

I also have to say I've recently had permanent makeup done for my eyebrows and eyeliner and it hurts a little at first but after the numming, she guided me through it all. They're so natural and there's less worry to put makeup on in the morning, i dont even need makeup!

I tried Piaf for a massage during Spa Week. I arrived early for my appointment, but was kept waiting for 40 minutes. The folks running the front desk seemed overwhelmed and disorganized. From what I could overhear, they gave my appointment to someone else and/or did not see my appointment in the book. However, no one apologized or offered me any explanation. Before my massage, the therapist told me it would be a 45 minute massage. However, it was only 30 minutes and felt very rushed. The masseuse did a good job, but overall it was a pretty disapointing experience. I'll try somewhere else next time.
I wish I'd read other's reviews...it looks like my experience was typical!

Saeed, one of the hair dressers in Piaf, has no idea what he is doing. I had beautiful curly dark brown hair which all hair dressers admire that. In order to keep make it look that beautiful, I had to let my hair to grew for about 2 years to get rid of the short layers in my hair and make it same length to let the curls show themselves. I had told that to Saeed and he was aware that I do not want short layers in my hair. One Sunday, I went to Piaf and asked Saeed to give me few highlights to create a little dept and trim a little around my hair. As usual, he put dark hair color on my skin and could not get it put so my skin was stained. When at end looked in the mirror and saw my hair, I was about to cry; this idiot had colored my hair to light brown and put lots of orange highlights around and cut it in short layers and styles it in 70s style. He has not done a good cut; top of my hair is too short the way the when it get curled up (which it does it in summer all the time) it stays in the air while the bang in front is not that short. Every day I get up and look at my hair, I regret going to that salon. I colored my hair all back to dark brown and got rid of his orange color.
Now I have to wait another 2 years till my hair to look the same way it as before Saeed touches my hair. I could not let my hair to be curly anymore because of the hair; it curls my hair up and freezes in the air. If you like your hair, do not choose Saeed as your hair dresser.

Oh my gosh, WORST place EVER! I decided to take a chance on this place b/c it was across the street from my new office. I asked for a "trim w/ no more than 2 inches". Those were my specific words! The guy cut 4 inches, left me a little rat tail in back, and bangs! Besides his slaughter of my hair, where does he get bangs from a trim?? I didn't have bangs to start with for him to "trim" them!

I was in total shock & am still SO mad months later! I speak perfect English & he fully understood so what's the problem??

The cut was also uneven. A hairstylist, who's a friend of a friend, had to fix it! She even did it for free b/c she was mortified at what he did to me. I discourage ANY AND EVERYBODY from getting their hair done there!

Additionally, the place & service were crummy as well.

HORRIBLE!

In short - I had very similar experience to that of Amber B. The job is done sloppy and the level of services is low, while the prices are quite high. In addition, the salon staff have a habit of not honoring appointments. I had to wait from 15 minutes to 45 minute on several occasions. I had more luck getting something done when I just walked in and just asked if anyone is available. I kept coming back to the salon several times because it is close to my apartment, hoping that my bad experiences were just bad luck, but now I know that this is just an unprofessional salon, so I am not coming back to it and don't recommend it to anyone!

The first and only time I visited Piaf (because it was so close to my apartment) I had an awful experience. It was a Sunday afternoon a few months ago and the place was nearly empty, only had one other person getting a cut--something you rarely see at salons in the city. I had an appt. for an all-over coloring (darkening my hair) and manicure. The staff was also clearly not busy, yet acted slow to do everything. I waited in the lobby area, and then my hair colorist (who was the receptionist when I walked in & on her phone) called me back and did a rather sloppy coloring job. She didn't use cotton or anything near my hair line and when I asked if she could wipe the color off my skin (as I'm fair skinned and coloring tends to dye my skin) she said "Oh no, it won't stain." Ten minutes later, I asked her again, seeing my skin had a lot of color on it. She sighed and went to grab some cotton and water... surprise surprise, it stained and the woman was literally scrubbing my face to remove it.

Feeling guilty she promised me some free sample products, but I never got them??only a dab of lotion and more scrubbing with the cotton while I got my manicure. The manicure looked like I did it myself (and I suck at doing nails) and the lady seemed preoccupied w/ everything but my nails.

Long story short, I left angry and with dark dye all over my hairline. Nobody there treated me like a paying customer and for that and my entire experience at Piaf, I will never, ever go back and do not recommend this place to anyone.

I had the greatest spa day! The staff was courteous, professional and most importantly VERY GOOD!! I had a facial, lash extensions, massage, mani and pedi...then got an awesome haircut ! I highly recommend this place. I am scheduled to get a japanese straightener next week with Mora and lash extension touchup with Mai....so stay tuned for my updates...it will probably be even more glowing than this one...

I absolutely LOVED my spa day at Piaf. I had the works which included a one hour massage with Donald, Manicure and Pedicure with Keit, Lash extensions, facial and waxing with Mai and highlights and cut with Lisette. I highly recommend Piaf and its staff. I am soooo happy with my day and (my new lashes)...can't wait until my next visit!

I had been complaining about how mascara always ended up smeared on my eyes at the end of the day. Waterproof mascara is not an option for me because it makes my eyes tear. My friend, Shannon told me about her technician at Piaf named Jennifer. I couldn't believe Shannon's eyelashes were fake, because they look so natural.
Anyway to make a long story short, I had a wonderful experience with Jennifer, who was kind and gentle in her application. I fell asleep to the soothing music that was playing in the background. When she gave me a mirror, I couldn't believe how beautiful I looked. I love my lashes and recommend getting them to all my girlfriends, but I don't really want them to know that mine are fake.

I found Piaf when I moved back to DC in 2000 and would go there occasionally for facials. I went to Vera and then Mai and kept going back because they were pleasant and I enjoyed the facials. I did this despite the rather run down facilities, the fact that the services are NOT cheap, and the absolute worst front desk service i've ever experienced - several times, I was left waiting out in the reception area for 20-30 minutes because the receptionist didn't tell the facialist I was waiting. (Mai actually gave me her cell phone number and told me to call her when I got there to get past the front desk so I know i'm not the only one!). I have also been double booked - another customer showed up 20 minutes into my facial and I was left on the table for half an hour while she was attended to. There's always a staff party going on in the reception area and as others have said, you usually have to make an effort to get their attention; when you do, they are either rude or incompetent or most often both. When I walked in for my appointment last week, the front desk was crowded, it turned out with staff people hanging out talking to the receptionists. There was no seating, as staff were hanging out in all the chairs. One of the stylists called out to me (and not politely) that Mai had another client. After 20 minutes of being completed ignored by the receptionists, I walked out and am never going back. I am not sure why it took me this long!

I didn't even make it into the massage room because my intuition told me that something was wrong with this place. The receptionist was rude and making me wait because she was on a personal call. Then the masseur came out dressed in baggy, unclean, and shabby-looking street clothes. He did not greet me in a friendly manner at all and even seemed like I was inconveniencing him by being there. I decided right then an there that this man was not coming anywhere near me. I had a moment to talk to the receptionist out of his earshot and told her that I was uncomfortable having a male masseur (a little white lie so as to not insult his personal appearance). Her immediate response was to laugh and ask me if I was conservative. What?!?!? I was shocked and retorted with "I don't think that's any of your business." She then proceeded to ask if I was married (another inappropriate question) and told me that she had a part-time masseuse but didn't know her schedule and didn't know her number to call her to see if she'd be available. Needless to say, I was horrified by the entire experience. A professional spa would have never questioned my comfort level and would have promptly rescheduled me with someone else. I will never, ever go anywhere near this spa again, and I would advise everyone to avoid it at all costs.

I went for a massage and a haircut for spa week. First warning sign: the staff clearly just wanted to be left alone. Second: minor point, but it's a little depressing to get to a "spa" for an early-morning appointment and be given bad coffee with "whitener" instead of milk.
The massage therapist's room was messy, and I got the impression that the dim lighting was to hide the condition of the floor (definite risk of stepping barefoot in day-old massage oil drippings) rather than ambiance. There was random stuff all over the place, and a big chain and padlock on one of the cabinets- hardly relaxing. The massage was relaxing while it lasted, but it lasted 30 minutes rather than the 45 scheduled and the knots in my back are still there. On the positive side, whatever she did in massaging my face got some muscles to relax that I didn't even know existed, and I looked quite pretty when she was done with that part.
The pre-haircut shampoo was done in a hurry while the woman doing it chatted with a regular who wanted her turn asap. Shampoo in my eyes, shampoo on my shirt, then bundled off to perch awkwardly in an unoccupied styling chair until the hairdresser finished with his previous client. Unlike most of the staff there, he was friendly and attentive, asked what I wanted done, and then did it. I would go back to him for a haircut if I could deal with the surroundings, which I don't think I want to. Bottom line: it didn't feel like a spa, it felt like a low-end nail salon or haircut joint with delusions of grandeur. I like the haircut and the relaxed face, but it's not worth the unpleasantness or the price (except maybe during spa week).

All in all it was not a relaxing experience and really bad service. They called me two hours before my massage, canceled it, than called back saying they could fit me in after all...only to cancel it again 20 minutes before it was about to start. I rescheduled for the next day, still for a 45 minute massage. She only gave me a 35 minutes massage and mentioned something about 5 minutes is for changing! The room was small and the floor wasn't that clean. The walls were a mess and the room had strange spot lights that she kept on most of the time. There was nice music playing but some strange noises (like laundry or something) that were much louder. I asked about it because it was so loud and she didn't do anything about it. So basically it wasn't relaxing at all and I left having a headache. The girl at the counter than accidentally charges me$575 instead of $50! I notice this and acts like it wasn't a big deal at all. I would not recommend this place, on every level it was not a good experience and the spa was not professional.

I read about eyelash extensions in Vogue Magazine and decided I had to have them. I'm glad I did. Jennifer has given me lashes to die for and brows that set them off beautifully! She is an artist. Quite the perfectionist, Jennifer has continued to work with me to design lashes that get more and more beautiful over time. I never would have thought that lashes could command this much attention! I get compliments on my long, curly, thick lashes at least twice a week. I will never be without them. Thanks Jennifer.

I have a friend who has been going to Piaf for eyelash extensions for about a year now. She always looks so great and I decided to try them.I went to Jennifer and was very happy with the results. She was very skilled and reassuring because I was nervous. My new eyelashes looked so beautiful and natural that I don't even have to where any other makeup!

Like most people these days I have a busy life with the rigors of work and my commitment to my family. Therefore, in those rare occasions when I am able to do something nice for myself, like get a massage, I relish it. My visit to Piaf Salon and Day Spa was the worst spa experience that I have EVER had and left me feeling worse than I did when I got there. The room was a mess and not at all relaxing; there was not the typical soft music that accompanies a massage. The only noises were the radio that could be heard from the salon and the people who were conversing loudly outside of the massage room the entire time. As if that was not enough, when I was finally able to relax a bit, another staff member of the salon knocked on the door and could be heard outside saying, "Oh no. Not again." The massage therapist opened the door to a barrage from her colleague. "I told you to tell me when you are here. I need all of my stuff." The therapist closed the door and tried to get her things for her, but a moment later the woman walks in and says, "Don't worry. I'm a girl too. I'm not looking." and proceeds to grab her things with a running narrative. "My stuff is all over the room. Hand me my magazine. I need that too. You need to tell me when you are here..." They even rolled her cosmetic cart out. On and on; you get the picture. It was impossible to relax after that. What made it even worse was the response of the manager, Lisette Attias. I asked the massage therapist if I could speak to the manager. She came back and said that she told the manager what happened and she said she was sorry. If I still wanted to talk to her I could go back to were she was sipping a beverage and chatting with other stylists in the salon. I went back to speak to her and she was entirely indifferent and said, "She didn't know you were in there." The saving graces of this establishment were the massage therapist who was trying her best to make the experience pleasant despite the horrible surroundings and the receptionist who was deeply apologetic. I will NEVER return to Piaf Salon. It was awful!

I have tried in vain to find a hair salon i'm really happy with in dc. unfortunately, piaf isn't it, either. Batoul did my color, which i'm actually happy with. Lisette cut my hair. first off, she didn't see it dry, which i think all stylists should. second, she spent about 15 minutes (total!) with me before passing me off to have my hair dried by someone else. third, she cut off about 3 inches more than i asked. there's just nothing great about the cut-no great layers, or anything to define my curls. it's not bad, but nothing great. the plus side is this salon was about $100 cheaper than most i go to. but i'll keep looking instead of returning to piaf.

This is quite possibly the most unprofessional salon I have been to, and I've lived all over the United States and world. Although it is close to my work, I have to give up on them. Be prepared to stand in the lobby waiting to be helped while the receptionist makes personal calls on her/his cell phone. You'll be tossed around from employee to employee, not quite sure who you should be tipping, or if you should be tipping at all. The hair styling isn't worth the money and I feel like I should be paid for the inattentive, rude and sub-par customer service. I'm finding another salon. Why this place was rated so high, I will never know; I cannot believe Piaf still exists.

I'm new to DC, but I thought that for 75$ that I could get someone to give me a set of acrylics without too much fuss.
The woman at Piaf doing my nails kept getting up to answer her phone, talk to other clients--the whole thing took much longer than it should have. Surprisingly unprofessional for a "day spa."

PROS: convenient location
CONS: too expensive given quality
