Gold N Time

I have been shopping and repairing watches at Gold-n-Time for years. I just love the owners and sales staff. They are all sincere, knowledgeable and patient(!) One day it took over 3 hours for me to purchase the right way (pre-owned Rolex) I had the best time. Since that day, I take and TRUST all watch repairs to Joseph at Gold-n-Time. I do admit, they do take awhile for repairs, but what's to be expected of a broken antique watch with no parts available (and NO OTHER STORE CAN FIX IT). Is there a time limit for this type of work!? They have a great selection of second hand watches at a cost of the price. Go there, but be patient on repair turnarounds. I think they have a rush service, which a friend of mine, used. He got it within the specified amount of time.

I have never had a problems in my dealing with Gold-N-Time. I seems as if only the unhappy write reviews, but I have to post a positive review, because Gold-N-Time is worth it! I have had many, many watches repaired and, the only problem, is they are late on their estimates, sometimes. I have even bought several watches (vintage Cartier and Rolex) that came with a one-year warranty and never had to use the warranty! The owners are extremely friendly and courteous, as well as the staff. YOU CAN'T GO WRONG WITH THESE GUYS!

Here are the facts of what happened to me. You can judge for yourself. On 6/23/07, Joseph the owner told me it was not the first time he sold a bad watch pointing to the 1yr warranty he gives on the receipt as well as the no refund/no return/exchange only policy. I am saying this because he sold me a bad watch on 6/16/07 for $400, refused a refund and challenged the District's implied warranty which guarantees that the initial purchase be free of defects and in working condition or your money back. The watch, a classic SST Zodiac Astrographic started running too fast gaining 7 minutes every 16 hours. Owner challenged me to go to court, said he didn't care about a negative review and showed me the door after treating me miserably in the store.

I've been going to Gold-n-Time since they opened at this location over 13 years ago. It was the best decision I ever made. If your vintage watch needs a part that is now obsolete, these guys will MAKE it with their lathe and state-of-the-art lazer machine! They have thousands of vintage and just barely used watch, pocket watches and clocks in this Dupont Circle store. Joseph, the watchmaker, is the most talented young watchmaker I have ever encountered. The repairs are a bit high, but as the saying goes...."You get what you pay for!" Visit!

Though small, Gold n Time offers a good selection of watches. The owners are friendly and knowledgeable about their products. These watches are on the expensive side (think Patek Philippe, Roles, Cartier and so on), but they will work with you- especially with trade-ins. I have bought several watches from them and have been happy with their service.
