i have noticed lot of customers leave angry and not go back.not busy the service is slow. when busy the service is slow. the employees run away from female tables and not come back.they would only volunteer to wait on male customer tables. and i got order wrong once and the waiter knew i what i ordered.the order came back wrong the second time. told the waiter knew i what i wanted .he claimed he not know what he did was wrong. not know what. and would not volunteer to make it right. we left tired of his back talk rude. saw employees slow to clear off dirty tables. the customers had to ask the employees to clear off tables and wait on customers. the employees would push the dirty crumbs off the table and not clean the crumbs off the floor. they would not volunteer to wait on people, give menu, come back to see if customers needed anything more, not volunteer to give food ordered, not volunteer to give napkins, food, drink and silverware.employees start fights with customers.talk back rude, interrupt, yell at,not busy rush to get rid of,talk on cell telephone while wait on customers, customers have to ask employees to come back table and wait on. the cashiers are rude.they talk to co-workers while wait on customers, wait on two people at same time and only talk to one of the two people, look elsewhere while wait on customers, employees stick dirty fingers in food of customers and deny they did it. the food is good the service is not. employees only nice to male and children tables.and not to female guests

Went here for lunch - loved it! Was able to snag a table outside on a gorgeous afternoon. Menu is great with a lot of salad and sandwich options. My only complaint is that I was expecting there to be a vast array of chocolate dessert options. Maybe it was the day I went but I was disappointed by the lack of treats for chocoholics like myself.

Pros: Great lunch, fast service

Cons: Where's the chocolate? Options are limited..

On the recommendation of a friend, I went to B and C for Sunday brunch. The normally crowed restaurant was handled by confused and exhaused waitresses. I ordered. I looked around and everyone had a sick looking prepared salad on their plate accompanying the main course. So was I to get this mess on my plate. It was old browned lettuce and had been dressed for hours. The main dish was ok, paultry, but ok. But this salad even provided dirt for me to crunch in my mouth. Another customer asked about the salad and was told that normally potatoes are served to accompany the brunch items, but on the weekends they usually run out of potatoes. How can you run out of potatoes when you are one block from Eastern Market? And serve such a disgusting salad as a replacement?

Bread and Chocolate is such a cute name for a bakery that I really wanted to love this place, but the pastries were really just average, not special. The cafe and shop are in a large building with lots of windows. The decor is a bit too cafeteria-like to be cozy and the staff can be innattentive. Even though there appeared to be lots of staff standing around during my visit, no one stepped up to help me. The location is great though, on the corner surrounded by cute stores and coffee shops.

Bread and Chocolate is a great place to get a light lunch on the weekend, but leave plenty of time because the service is often very slow. Don't be afraid to grab your own menu or flag down the wait staff. I recommend the quiche -- and make sure you get a basket of bread.

PROS: Reasonable prices, good quantity and quality
CONS: Slow service

this is a very cute cafe with lots of outside seating. light fare includes salads and sandwhichs, but the desserts are the thing to go for! also make amazing cappucino. servers are foreign and communication can be difficult at times, but the food is worth the hassle.
