Do not make the mistake of confusing El Salmeron's with El Tamarindo, the restaurant that used to be at 7331 Georgia Avenue. One of my worst dining experiences ever - the chips were stale and tasted like fish, the salsa was watery and the margaritas appeared to be nearly tequila-less. We're not super picky eaters, but the food was terrible. On the upside, the waitress was lovely and attentive.

El Tamarindo is my favorite mexican restaurant in DC. The food is delicious and they also serve salvadoran specialties like pupusas in addition to mexican standards like mole, and enchiladas. Be forewarned, the service varies. Once, it took me 45 minutes to get my food even though it wasn't busy. It's definitely not a fancy restaurant but it's very cheap. I'm from California, and it's very hard for me to pay L?Oreal Plaza prices for tacos.

PROS: cheap cheap cheap prices
CONS: service can be spotty
