.

The Beacon is in a great location- walking distance to DuPont Circle and The Mall/White House.

That being said, for being a large city hotel, the services and rooms are hit and miss.

My wife and I were lucky and got a renovated room, but our friends (on the same floor, but different wing), had slightly poor accommodations. That's not to say everything wasn't better than most hotels, but you come to expect a certain level in larger cities.

The hotel staff was only OK. Sometimes they would be greatly helpful, but other times they wouldn't follow through on requests (and in some cases out-and-out lied- told our friends there wasn't a food delivery place open anywhere in the city at 1 a.m.-- then backpedaled when we found an advertisement for pizza in the hotel info packet!)

The brunch was a great value- all you can eat and drink for less than $20/pp.

Given what I know of other hotels in the area, I probably wouldn't go back, unless I could get a room for significantly less that The W and the like.
