Taj Of India is great Indian!

by Meredith P. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 321

I visit Washington, DC for a week each year. During the week I am there we usually order from Taj of India at least twice. The delivery is terribly slow. However, the food more than makes up for it. The korma is one of the best I've had!

Taj Of India is extremely friendly with authentic Indian fare.

by Aaron Y.

Upon walking into the Taj of India one is greeted warmly by the establishment, setting the stage for the rest of the experience. The individuals here are great and very friendly and was helpful in assisting with all the wonderful menu items. We ordered Curry Chicken (note, the medium curry is very mild, order the hot curry) and the Taj Thali with extra naan. There was an excess of food! We ate until we could not any more, then they happily boxed up the rest for lunch the next day. The last item was Rice Kheer which effectively removed any traces of impeding heartburn from the spices (awesome spices) and was amazing and extremely creamy! The prices were right compared to the servings and quality, giving an excellent meal while not having to break the bank or wait forever for a table. I believe this was one of the top Indian restaurants I have visited throughout the US in our travels and will definitely frequent them again in my next visit to the DC area! Thank you!!

The mini burgers are worth the trip alone

by priyadarshan n. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 12,340

The layout of the restaurant takes full advantage of its location in a thin row house. Downstairs, you have the bar and pizza oven, which take up most of the first floor. The second and third floor are where the tables are. Overall, the restaurant can only hold a mere 59 people according to the Fire Marshal

PROS: great curry and rice, home cooked tast
CONS: slow service
