Pretty standard Marriott in a fair location

I've stayed at the Washington Marriott six or eight times over the past few years and have generally had very good experiences at the hotel. The rooms that I've had have all been pretty standard Marriott rooms and the staff has always been friendly and helpful.
The hotel isn't particularly close to the Metro, but the Foggy Bottom or Dupont Circle stations can be reached within ten minutes on foot. There are a few good restaurants in the area and countless more in Dupont; you can also walk to the restaurants in Georgetown in about ten or fifteen minutes. If you have a car, there is parking available at the hotel.
The hotel has an indoor pool and fitness center as well as several ballrooms. None of the rooms that I've ever been in have had any particularly notable views.
The only stay at this hotel which has been less-than-ideal was the last one. At checkin, I was told that I was being given a complimentary upgrade for being an elite member of Marriott Rewards. Sure enough, when I went up to my room it was larger and had a separate, though not particularly useful, sitting/meeting area. I was pleased until I came back from dinner, when I heard a deep "thump, thump, thump" bass noise from the bar/club ("Lulu's") which is right below that part of the hotel. This noise did not go away and I eventually had to change my room - which, although not a major hassle, was not exactly what I wanted to do at midnight. The staff, however, was very helpful and moved me quickly.
Though I don't think this hotel is the single-best Marriott property in DC, it's generally more than satisfactory and I would recommend it to a friend.
PROS: Nice rooms, generally a pretty good value
CONS: Some of the rooms can be noisy, not too close to the Metro
