I love Dr. Morgan. I have no idea what my dogs lives would be without him, he's so great. He takes a lot of care with the animals and you can tell from the time he calls you back to the exam room all through the visit. I've referred other people to him and they've also said that you can just tell how caring and compassionate he is, and also fair. Vets can't instantly know what's wrong with an animal on first exam, sometimes they have to test for things but his intuition is always on target. We had a lot of bad luck with vets in the city and I'm thankful I found Georgetown Veterinary Hospital.

Do not take your pet to Dr. Lee Morgan of Georgetown Veterinary Hospital. He is not competent, and if you care about your pet, you will not send him/her to be treated by him simply because he does not know what he is doing.

We learned the hard way, and now we feel we have an obligation to warn other pet owners.

over the years, i have taken my dog to various vets in Washington DC, switching either because their fees shot up or they made major diagnostic mistakes that cost me nearly $2,000. a friend whose dogs are seemingly always happy and healthy recommended Dr. Morgan and i am so grateful that she did. Dr. Morgan was very kind, took his time, listened to my lengthy description of all my dog's idiosynchroses and diagnosed my dog's problem immediately and accurately. when my dog had surgery, Dr. K and the vet cleaned his teeth for free! they called me after surgery two or three times to make sure he was doing okay. he is now free of cancer and gambols about like the 14-year-old puppy that he is. the tech and receptionist were wonderful, and the receptionist made room for Ziggy in their busy schedule immediately (he hadn't pooped in four days, and i was very worried). another plus is that they sell meds at the on-line cost. i don't have enough good things to say about Georgetown Vet Hospital.

Dr. Morgan and his staff are just the kind of people you can truly trust your animal with. I was blown away by the genuine affection given to my pet and the follow up on their part.

When it came time for me to have my dog's vaccinations done, I spent time doing research to choose a new vet. Previously, I had a bad experience with another DC animal hospital who has newbie vets, and you can't schedule one particular vet, like an HMO. Based on reviews, as well as the recommendation of a friend, I decided on Dr, Morgan at Georgetown. I also wanted an experienced vet with diagnostic expertise. The young woman at the reception desk was very friendly and helpful. I got a good vibe from all the employees there. Dr. Morgan is very kind, and he was great with my dog. He explained all procedures as he was doing them. In addition, later that afternoon, Dr. Morgan left a message telling me that all my dog's tests were negative, and that she was in good health. I am so happy and relieved to finally have a great vet for my beloved dog.

I had a great experience with both Dr. Morgan (and his very helpful wife/book keeper mentioned in other reviews) and Dr. Bayles prior to the purchase of the clinic. There were some growing pains when he first took over, but Bayles was a tough act to follow. Morgan is a talented and experienced vet who has grown into his own as a leader in the area. I received compassionate and professional care that proved to be dead-on when he willingly referred me to specialist for issues with my aging dog. I have no hesitations recommending the practice.

We've never seen Dr. Morgan, but recently saw Dr. Lipton for the first time and were very displeased. She was extremely rude and condescending. She did not have any clue how to treat our dogs condition, but instead spouted off ridiculous suggestions that were completely contradictory to those given to us by veterinary medical articles and other specialists. She spent a good deal of the time fumbling around the office looking for supplies, and when she prescribed a medicine for our dog she did not even know if it would upset her stomach. The establishment is somewhat cramped and dingy. All this combined with a rude, unhelpful staff sent us running out the door vowing never to darken it again.

Several times my cat Suzi needed extra attention that was time consuming. On every occasion I was given a timely appointment and the extra care that she needed was given immediately. One Saturday when I thought that GVH was closed (they were open that day) I took her to a hospital linked to a retail chain. What a mistake, the appointment was for 2pm, the tech didn't see Suzi until 3:15pm and the Vet (on his 3rd day, he told me) didn't enter the room until 4pm. Also, the quote for JUST xrays and office visit were $100.00 more than what I paid at GVH for xrays office visit and an enema! The place was more like a meat market and had a "take a number" feel to it. The atmosphere at GVH is much more personable and professional. Being a 13 year customer to GVH, Dr. Morgan has kept Dr. Bayles philosophy to veterinary care and is the reason I continue to go there. Dr. Morgan put Suzi on food that she likes and is digesting normally. As a result, she is still asserting her will on me today after 13 years when at one point I personally thought that she was going to have to be euthanized. Thanks to Dr. Morgan and his staff. Now, I'd also like to comment on the "wife-bashing"... I never knew that the bookeeper was Dr. Morgans wife until recently. I also work in an environment where I have to deal with people all the time, sometimes 4500 in a day in a 9400 square foot structure. Trust me, dealing with people on that level can be a challenge and I've been doing it for 25 years. In my experiences I know that my responses (in that environment) are reflective of how I am treated by the recipient of my services. My interactions with her have been mainly pleasant and a few times when I was unnecessarily overly protective she reminded me that everything is OK.

Dr. Morgan had to put to sleep our dear cat who was at the end of her long life. He not only did the task with the greatest kindness and compassion -- to us and to her -- he recognized that we faced a hole in our lives. His staff directed us to a woman who finds homes for feral cats and we now have two formerly feral, now greatly loved kitties. We recommend him highly.

To the Anon contributer regarding my wife:
As owner of Georgetown Veterinary Hospital and a man very much in love with my bookkeeper (wife), I have absolutely no intention of getting rid of her

i agree with a previous commentor. the wife is the biggest problem here., and has treated the customers of the previous vet, dr. bayles, who spent 30 years building up the clientele of the practice dr. morgan bought, with real rudeness.

Georgetown Veterinary Hospital's expertise and service speaks for itself. My food-oriented dog was suddenly off his food and shivering with pain. Dr. Morgan made the dog top priority (when the dog had not even been on his schedule), taking Xrays and monitoring him throughout the day, and, made sure that the dog would be expertly attended throughout the night. The next day Dr. Morgan performed a successful surgery when it became clear surgery was necessary. Throughout he communicated the dog's status and then sent us to an emergency 24 hour hospital which had an ICU which the dog needed for the next 48 hours. Had my dog been similarly situated in some of the places I've lived in Asia and Africa, he would be in heaven as I type. Instead he is recovering and has found his old enthusiasm for food. Dr. Morgan has continued to follow my dog's progress and took the trouble to check with a specialist on an independent matter concerning the wisdom of a recommended course of action. My dog had no appointment either on the day he was monitored or on the day of his surgery but his care could not have been more effective had two days been blocked for his exclusive attention. I recommend Dr. Morgan and his hospital highly,

Unlike the bigger, almost factory like veterinary hospitals where you would see many doctors and employees, who really don't know your pet on a personal level, this one is very personal and welcoming. Dr. Morgan takes the time to really get to know your pets and the medical attention your pet needs. His staff is very pleasant as well. It is obvious that they have a very strong team because there has not been a time that an employee was not aware of the special attention my pets have needed, or wanted. I highly recommend this veterinary hospital to those of you who treat your pets like your children!!!!!

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr. Morgan and his staff. He is extremely knowledgable, an excellent surgeon, and an astute diagnostician. He and his entire staff truly care about the animals...as if they were their own. Throughout my 40+ years, I have interacted with many vets. Dr. Morgan and staff really go "above and beyond" in all respects. I would highly recommend him.

This vet is not very good, not very concerned about the animals welfare and a very poor diagnostician. He sends you to the wrong specialists and it ends up costing valuable time and lots of money. His wife is his bookkeeper and she is a real cold hearted (it rhymes with rich).
