The Barnes & Noble on M street is awesome. This is in an older building with all kinds of character. They have installed escalators to shuttle you between their 3 full floors of books, which is a major plus in my eyes. I do not do stairs well due to Lupus so this feature is what puts them over the top into the 5 star realm for me.
They have everything every other B&N has, and then some. The place is just huge. In addition to the racks and racks of discounted books, they have a full toy & games section which I adore... this was how I got introduced to Triopoly. Very cool.
They have a large section of knick-knacky stuff too like fabulous book ends and book marks galore.
And of course no B&N would be complete without a Starbucks, now would it? Additionally, they have a huge display of Godiva chocolates to tempt me unmercifully.
The staff is wonderfully helpful, and if they don't know the answer, they will find it for you.
PROS: Huge, escalators
CONS: Not on the metro line
