I was looking for some fried catfish while visiting Washington DC and was hoping this was the place! Although they did not sell catfish as an entree I did try their catfish finger appetizers and they were terrific. Very fresh taste and crispy.

The restaurant is in a great location (Washinton Harbour) and its dining area was very comfortable. I had no complaints. Great place for family, folks and fun!

Tony & Joes Seafood Place is located in the tony Georgetown Washington Harbor complex on the Potomac River. It has two dimensions: an informal outside patio and bar and an informal dining room with white table cloths. We had diner in the dining room Saturday evening during which time three separate tour bus loads of people were seated.

My dinner salad and my wife's Caesar salad were fine. We shared an fried alligator appetizer. With a sprinkle of fresh lemon and a little tartar sauce, it tasted much like deep-fried anything; you taste the crust and seasoning. The rest is texture, which in this case was tough and chewy, but fine.

For entrees, my wife had the old standby Surf & Turf. The Surf was a little "tired," she said and the Turf was a little overdone, but nothing to really complain about. I had Red Snapper and a medley of vegetables. The vegetables were steam table adequate. The Red Snapper howerever was quite unedible, which is what happened to it after two attempted bites. It was sad.

The place itself is attractive and our server could not have been more attentive or obliging or friendly I might add. Should we ever go back, it would be for a snack and drink on the patio however.

PROS: setting, service, attractively presented food
CONS: food quality is steam-table ecceptable at best

I would recommend giving them a try during lunch time. They are a little overpriced & not the best seafood restaurant in the area. At least during lunch you can choose to sit outside & enjoy the weather.
