Like most museums that have been collecting objects for a long time, the DAR Museum has some pretty bizarre stuff among all its treasures, from obsolete to merely odd to altogether ooky. On display are such wonders as a glass dachshund to drink from, jewelry made from human hair, and a snuffbox made from a ram?s head. Also included in the exhibit are peculiar medical care tools, kitchen utensils and musical instruments.

This museum is great for lovers of antiques and decorative arts. The DAR Museum emphasizes the important role of women throughout American history and includes items such as furniture, ceramics, glass, paintings, silver, costumes and textiles. It's filled with everyday items out of America's past. If your kids get bored you can send them to the Touch Area on the third floor where they can play with authentic 18th and 19th century toys and objects. If you love antiques and decorative arts then I would recommend this museum.
