I was relieved to see that other patients had the same reaction to Dr. Reiter - he was rude to both me and the nurses, intimidating, and didn't answer a single question we asked. I've had other small problems with the practice (both DC and Falls Church) that have begun to add up - messed up tests, rude technicians, and the DC office needs a serious cleaning. I would also reiterate the assembly line feel - I am in my second trimester, but I find myself going over the same information with new docs each visit. When I asked Dr. Reiter to call me with test results taken during my pregnancy, he told me that wasn't possible, and he said the practice could "barely handle what we have to do now." I will be finding a new doc.

I visited the Chevy Chase office. I would have had to wait several weeks for an appointment with a doctor, so I had a nurse do my annual exam instead. The wait in the waiting room was a little long but fortunately not too bad, but then I had a long wait in my room. It's a shame that I had to spend a couple hours of my day for a three-minute exam. The nurse apologized for the wait, was friendly, and, I think, did a thorough job with my exam. I didn't find the staff at the front desk rude at all, but I felt uncomfortable with their looking at my records with personal information--I wish that only the doctors and nurses could do that--but perhaps that is to be expected. I would probably return for my annual exam next year and see the same nurse. (I had a decent experience, but I am a little suspicious of these five-star reviews.)

Have been going to this practice for years but now that I am pregnant I am finally getting serious about finding a good doctor's office. The doctors I have met with have a cold bedside manner and fail to ask the important questions. They treat everything as routine and in one instance a lump in my breast was overlooked that I then had to have removed. They've misplaced my records before and the front desk staff is inefficient, unhelpful and unresponsive. I'm even having a hard time getting my medical records in a timely manner. I believe they may have once been a good practice but now only receive positive write-ups in the Washingtonian because they pay for such placement.

We starting coming to the Chevy Chase office after moving to Maryland. We had heard good things about the practice, but as it turns out we are very disappointed with the quality of treatment and the competency of the doctors. There are a number of young doctors who seem to have very little experience. Even Dr. Heather Johnson (of whom we had heard some good things) is eccentric and lacks gravitas -- she's not a top tier doctor. The practice has a "clinic" feel compared to some of the top practices. We certainly don't feel like we're seeing the best doctors in town. Also, you really don't have any say as to who delivers your baby (unless you have a scheduled c-section) -- which-- again, this goes to the "clinic" like atmospherics of the place.

I have been going to this practice for prenatal care, and have been mostly satisfied with the care. Drs. Hill, Johnson and Nevin seem especially good, and I've been pleased with the younger doctors and the other providers/nurses. The waits are typically not that long in either DC or Chevy Chase offices. They are responsive to after-hours calls and to calls during the day for even silly little questions. And they can do sonograms, bloodwook, etc, all in the office.
However, I've had one really awful experience. I found Dr. Reiter to be extremely curt and rude and surprisingly unknowledgeable - which was shocking to me after thinking how lucky I was to be getting the senior partner in the practice on that occasion.
I have since spoken with other patients who have encountered him and they have expressed similar sentiments. One person told me she was terrified he would be the doctor on call during her delivery.
Also, the practice recommends doing a rotation where each visit you see a different doctor (with the idea being that you will have met the doctor that ends up doing the delivery). It works OK, but it creates something of an assembly line feeling, and if you end up with any issues, it makes it difficult to have someone who is monitoring your care.
I would recommend sticking with maybe one or two doctors because you never really know who's going to be at the delivery. In fact, sometimes the doctor on call is a woman who is not even affiliated with the practice.

I have been w/this practice for about 14years. And I always, always refer my friends and family to this practicee. They give excellent care and are very personable and attentive to the needs of there pt. I will admit that there old billing manager was a nightmare but the care that you recieve from the docs and there staff is in a class by itself. I give Dr.Reiter and Hill 5 thumbs up for a great practice.

I'm very surprised to read the discontent with the R&H practice noted below. I have been using this practice for about 5 years or so and have yet to have an issue with the service of the staff or the doctors. Everyone has always been most helpful, supportive and timely with appointments! I especially like "Muffy", as I always prefer to be seen by her. She is very personable and attentive...makes you feel like you're talking to your best friend. My accolades go to all 3 offices...VA, DC, and MD. Hats off guys to a job well done!! Keep up the good work!

Probably my worst visit to a physician The administrative staff as noted earlier are highly incompetent and very rude. I was was ignored, and treated insensitively by both the staff and Dr. Reiter. I would not recommend this unsatisfactory practice to anyone.

Marc W. surely you can't be talking about the practice on 19th street? I have been going there for 8 years and have nothing but great things to say about the doctors, nurses, and staff at large. I have recommended them to many friends and colleagues who are equally effusive about their professionalism and great overall care. My delivery, and pre and post delivery care was second to none. The staff answers the phone promptly and always manages to fit me in for an appointment. Favorite doctors are Dr. Hill, Busch, Johnson, and Sedghi. Laurie Lemieux is a really great nurse practitioner. And how dare you call anybody Mentally Challenged, Im shocked that you managed to get someone to marry you arrogant and rude as you sound.

Where do I begin. The entire administrative staff is mentally challenged. The doctors are completely incompetent, and to top it off no one ever returns a phone call! My wife had a very common complication during her pregnancy and the doctors acted as if they did not know what to do. Unbelievable! I would highly recommend that you look elsewhere. You have been warned
PROS: None
CONS: Doctor's Incompetence, Support Staff, Never Return Phone Calls, etc.
