Tono Sushi

★★★★☆
The place to come for unusual, trendy sushi. Don't expect the classics to be of the highest quality.

.

This classy but affordable establishment located right outside the Woodley Park Metro station offers standard sushi and sashimi items and passable pan-Asian cuisine for less than you'd expect to pay at a restaurant as well-established as this one.

Highlights include the Maki Combo (california roll, tuna roll, and cucumber roll- $9), the scrumptous tamago (Japanese omelette sticks over rice- $1.50 each) and exquisite nightly specials. The miso soup is also noteworthy, and comes with a small bowl of delicious marinated sprouts.

PROS: Outdoor seating and good service.
CONS: Avoid the shrimp tempura roll; unfortunately not as good as it sounds.
