The service at this hotel was unacceptable. Everything but the staff at the front desk were a mess. The room I stayed in was pretty good I guess, it was definitely spacious. I can't say that there were a lot of amenities. The beds were pretty comfortable. I didn't really like the bathroom, it could be bigger.

The Churchill is in a nice location being just above Dupont Circle, it even looks very inviting with the dashing attendants ready to help with your luggage the second you arrive. The front desk staff will even seem very welcoming at check in. After that, you're on your own.

The rooms are very spacious with top quality furnishings and ammenities, but where they lost it with me is in the absolutely required Internet access. They claim to have it, and indeed they do, but at exhorbitant prices. Not on;y will they charge you an additional $12 per day for a horrible connection, but if you need to use their adapter they will immediately charge you a $125.00 deposit! Outrageous. I have never, in the hundreds of hotels I've stayed at, met with anything so ridiculous.

The maid staff is a bit shy in the common sense department too. How does one bury the only remote control for the TV in the bedding unless they aren't changing the sheets? Unacceptable.

If that isn't enough, the barman kept vanishing during their so-called welcoming happy hour with the free appetizers. We had to finally get up and get our own beer... not to mention that 30 minutes before the end of the free food, they ran out and would not replinish.

No, don't succumb to the pretty facade here, once they have you in the room they could care less about you. Go down the block to the Marriott Courtyard instead.

PROS: Looks appealing...
CONS: Appearances are deceiving
