Doctor spoke to me for 5 minutes, after waiting over an hour for my appointment. He recommended me to a very expensive massage therapist, and told me he would contact me the very next day regarding a cat scan for my headache issues. I never received that phone call.

The staff was completely unfriendly. Never again, and I am going to be traumatized when I get the bill, surely.

I first saw Pat (the nurse) for allergies and she gave me 3 simultaneous meds for asymptomatic asthma (I??ve had one attack in my whole life and it was due to severe bronchitis). It was totally out of line and she claimed it was ??better to ease off several drugs than to waste time figuring out which works best?

? Seriously? For asymptomatic asthma? Thanks but I??d prefer not to be a testing field for pharmaceutical companies for an issue I barely notice anyway.

When I came back and complained about the multitude of side effects from the very strong drugs, she simply gave me 3 different strong drugs? with the same side effects!

Then, Dr. Fishman gave me what he claimed was a smaller dosage of a similar steroid inhaler. That also had side effects. He also wanted to start me on additional meds for a ??disease? that I can??t find anything about on the internet.

I??ve stopped taking those terrible meds and am now on natural supplements for lung health, with an appointment to see a real pulmonologist.

I have been Dr. Fishman's patient for 10+ years. I was referred to him by my then ENT doctor who thought I needed the best asthma doctor. I have found him to be a thorough diagnostician, he asks questions, listens to the answers, gives feedback on your answers and provides solutions. He never fails to return my calls and often initiates calls to follow up on my progress. Good luck on finding a better doctor. For me, I believe I have the best and have and will continue to recommend him to family and friends (all of whom feel the same as I do about him).

I should have known better based on reading these reviews. Unlike any previous doctor (including my previous allergist of 3 years), he and his staff suggested that I have asthma from the minute I walked in the door (seemed to be a predetermined conclusion). He tried to railroad me into some further testing and provided me with a handy brochure from the pharmaceutical company that makes the substance used for the test. When I suggested I wanted to think about it, he acted like I was taking my life in my hands.

I saw that one of the other reviewers wrote "bad listener". I would say that's an understatement. His staff is exceptionally unhelpful. I would not recommend going to him if only because his staff is very difficult.

I have been a patient of Dr. Fishman's for the past two years and have been to both his Chevy Chase and Washington, D.C. offices. I highly recommend Dr. Fishman. Prior to Dr. Fishman I kept getting sinus infections. An ENT physician recommended Dr. Fishman thinking that I had allergies. Not only do I have new allergies to dust and ragweed, but I have food allergies as well. I had also developed asthma. I have not had a sinus infection under Dr. Fishman's care. His staff are generally very kind and Dr. Fishman has excellent patient care. The Washington, D.C. office can be very crowded and is a busy office and at times the office is a bit disorganized, but it seems that the word is out that Dr. Fishman is the guy to go to if you have allergies or asthma. I highly recommend him and his staff.

Dr. Fishman tried to tell me I had asthma and that I needed to come back to his office for more testing - this seems like bad business to me as my breathing test indicated that there wasn't a problem and that I tested positive for allergies (and clearly the breathing wasn't asthma related). He actually gave me an inhaler for a problem I didn't have!
He also failed to read my file before following up on my blood work. It was an uncomfortable conversation as he had to ask me how my first two test results came out as he discussed the results of my blood work. Will not go back to him.

My 5 yr. old daugher and I went to see him - we were both wheezing. He asked many questions, and gave us a breathing tes and diagnozed us with Asthma. He did not do a physical check of either of us, and prescribed my daughter with a medication recommended only for children 12 and above. I was not satisfied with the process. I felt like a statistical analysis on a study, rather than a human being. I decided to go to another doctor, who could listen, and do a physical check, and look at a a spectrum of possibilities - including asthma.

On the advice on my pediatrician, I brought my son to Doctor Henry Fishman to diagnose his allergy. Doctor Fishman did several tests and soon found that my son was allergic to dust mites. He was very professional and courteous. My son hates doctors but is not afraid to go to Doctor Fishman's office. The only thing bad about his office is that you have to pay for parking in a building garage.
