I've been to Luna Grill once, and have never forgotten it. It's in Dupont, which is a nice area. The service was good, and the food came out quickly, despite the business of the place. And it tasted great. It's a very popular restaurant for a reason - we even saw Gwen Ifill there!

Had Sunday brunch here and was pretty impressed, the place was packed and the food was good. It's a pretty low=key place and I was intrigued by all the artwork they have adorning the walls. But it's in a good location right close to Dupont Circle and there's lots of solid fare from which to choose. That's the important part.

Luna's is an upscale diner south of Dupont Circle. By "upscale" I mean, it's more of a relaxed restaurant than a true diner. Unlike typical diners, there's lots of menu variety, healthier options, nice decor and easy going atmosphere. The prices are cheap compared to other restaurants in the area.
Luna's is one of my favorite places to eat, and I like to take visiting West Coast friends. It reminds me of California: very chill and friendly with no pretension. I often have lunch there during the week--it's one of the few places you can go alone or with others and feel just as comfortable. The vegetarian options are so delicious, I love the lasagna and veggie burgers even though I'm a meat-eater. The long menu has options for a variety of budgets from $5 for a plate of fabulous chili cheese fries (real cheese, not the fake stuff!) to $20 for a pasta and grilled fish entree. I've also used their catering service with excellent results.
Luna's blend of affordable prices and yummy meals makes it very popular and busy for Sunday brunch and dinner so expect a 5-10 min wait unless you come for an early dinner or get lucky. The scene is very diverse: families, business men, tourists, and young hipsters.
