Famous Luigi's We walked everywhere looking for a place to eat. This was our first time in DC. The chicken in white wine was fabulous and my husband ordered the veal and he loved it. The place doesn't look fancy but the food is unbelievable and it is priced fair. The chicken dish was around 17 and the veal was around 18. They are a traditional Italian place with a wonderful selection of toppings for your pizza. They do a great job on the pizza and pasta dishes. We always try to eat here when in the area. Famous Luigi's I realize a review hasn't been written in 3 years, but I went to this place last night and it was HORRIBLE. The place looked shotty, the floor wasn't clean and there was only one waitress. The menus needed cleaning and the lights were even dim as they usually are. On the the food -- HORRIBLE. I could mave made much better at home. I'm not sure if there is new management or if they are just in a decline - but this place is bad. It is sort of small, two levels, but is capable of holding large (20+) parties. It is by far, the best italian food I have had in DC. The best part about it is that almost all of the entrees range between $10-$16. They also have a pretty decent wine selection, and it's great in the summertime when you can eat ouside on the patio. The food is phenomenal and very low priced. The ambiance is terrific! If you're looking for a very casual place to go for an awesome dinner, definitely go to Luigi's. It gets VERY crowded in the evening, so be prepared for a wait. They don't take reservations. Unfortunately, there isn't any parking lot, so you'll have to deal with on-street parking.
