Visited Bodega during a visit to Washington, DC this past summer. The whole family loved the Spanish Tapas...I think we asked for seconds on each and everyone. The price was right and the atmosphere was urban/stylish. Loved it. Get there early, however, as seating disappears quickly!

We stumbled on this place by accident on a Saturday night. The tapas were fantastic, and the waiter was really knowledgeable, offering advice on the food, and how to time the orders. We never felt rushed. It was a stellar experience. Although the restaurant is large, no one room is overpowering in size (it seemed to extend for a city block). The seating in the back is a little strange, with some chairs having no backs, but the dining experience would make this a destination worth going to.

Pros: Really superb tapas and efficient staff

The Manhattan Bar and Grill may not look like much at first glance. We were swayed by the agreeable barker they had outside pushing menus. The place is refreshingly unpretentious for Georgetown. Thank God it hasn't become anothetr Benetton yet.

The food is good, if not memorable. The New England Clam Chowder was fresh, not from a can....they get points for this. I had salmon with garlic mashed potatoes, while my better half had the lobster. She always has lobster........The service was punctual and friendly. Price? About $80.00 for dinner for 2 without alcohol. Considering she had lobster, this was reasonable. A much better deal than the Sea Catch nearby.

PROS: Unpretentious and pleasant
CONS: Not the most exciting place, but solidly good

So I was craving either lobster or crab legs while we were wandering around Georgetown one day shopping. Manhattan Bar & Grill garnered our business because of the gal standing outside opening the door for patrons. She was very enthusiastic as to the quality of the seafood here. We believed her. She was right.

The place doesn't appear to be overly uppity, yet has a nice upscale feel to it. Contradictory? Perhaps. You'll just have to go in and see for yourself. Call it comfortably chic.

I went with the Surf & Turf (5 oz lobster tail, 9 oz filet) for $29 and was not at all disappointed. That was possibly the best lobster I had had in the DC area... and that is saying a lot. I mean, of course it isn't goijng to compare to someplace like Abbott's up in Noank, CN. No place will here. But for DC, it is outstanding.

The filet was a lot larger than that 9 oz would lead you to believe. It was thickness personified. Juicy and flavorful too. These were both accompanied by horseradish mashed potatoes which frankly astounded me in how much I liked them. I find myself craving those now. I have to say that $29 price tag was well worth it.

Himself went with a Cajun Swordfish for $22 and was greatly impressed as well. He is very hard to impress, I might add. It was cooked to perfection and we're talking about a spoiled rotten male who has eaten every day for the past 8 years in a restaurant. Every day.... for him to give such high praise is a rarity.

So, a full 5 superb stars for the Manhattan Bar & Grill.

PROS: complete excellence
CONS: None whatsoever
