Marrakesh Restaurant

I have been introduced to Marrakech restaurant since 1989 , and it was love at first , excellent reception , excellent food excellent entertainment , and more , they are willing to get better without getting away from the ethnic and very Moroccan food , the decor is beautiful , the sitting it very original , and it is very affordable , for little money you get 7 courses , where can you get that , I loved loved loved , and I do have a reservation for july 11 / 2008 to introduce some of my friends to it , and believe me , ALL THOSE YEARS WITH ALL THE FRIENDS THAT i HAVE INTRODUCED TO mARRAKECH , NONE OF THEM EVER COMPLAINED , AU CONTRAIRE , THEY ALL WENT BACK AND INTRODUCED THEIR FRIENDS , AND WHAT DO YOU THINK OF A PLACE THAT HAS BEEN FOR SO LONG WITH THE SAME DECOR AND MENU AND STILL VERY BUSY AND YOU HAVE TO MAKE A RESERVATION TO GET IN EVEN IF YOU ARE THEIR BEST FRIEND , because they treat their customers equally .I love marrakech.

Someone has told me about Marrakesh and that is a MUST Visit when you are in Washington. I am a Moroccan who found that this place really reflects the way we eat in Morocco especially at a home. The food was good the quality of service was excellent and my American guest was so enchanted that she reserved a large party for her 30th Birthday. Good Job Marrakesh SHOUKRAN BILZAF

We took some Friends there who were visiting us. I will NEVER take anyone there again. Our waiter was AWFUL. First of all every cocktail drink we pointed to, he said they didn't have. He barely spoke any English. So we HAD to get a bottle of wine since it was the easiest to explain. The food was nothing great, very bland. The waiter was so slow so we told him to please hurry up since we were waiting so long before he would bring the next course. So of course he started bringing it out even slower. We had a couple of groups sitting near us that came half an hour after us and the waiter served them every course one after the other but with us he took his time and it was obvious he did that cause we had asked him to please hurry up and not take so long. We ended up being there an extra hour after the other groups had left. It was just horrible. We actually went there cause we had heard it was different. But never will I be going back again!!!!! Also NOT very clean.

I've been to many restaurants all over the world. This experience was definitely the worst. The waiter is terribly rude. The place is a dump. The atmosphere is dirty. The waiter does not greet u at all to start this horrible experience but warns u about the prices. I never heard about waiter telling you how much you're gonna be charged before u start eating. I don't recommend that restaurant to any person interested in decent dining.

We had read some good reviews about Marrakesh but must have been there on a terrible night which included really rude waiters and an extra $150 in bogus charges added to our bill, which came handwritten on a regular sheet of paper. Scribbled on the "bill" was a made-up "DC Entertainment Fee" of 18% of our bill, plus an added $40 fee for belly dancing, which was supposed to be included. Marrakesh only takes cash, so if you have a problem there, like we did, there's no recourse because there's no receipts given. We didn't even see a cash register.
Even if we had not encountered a waiter who tried to rob us, parking is awful and the place is a dump. It's dark and dirty - -just yucky all around.
I have no idea why either the IRS or the Health Department has not shut this place down.

CONS: Just plain gross.

This place is very big on atmosphere! It has no windows, and when I went you actually had to knock on a big wooden door to be let in. They lead you through carpeted corridors filled with photos of famous people, and into a large room where you sit on low benches with pillows and dig into a fabulous Middle Eastern meal. Vegetarians, there's not much that's meat free and the menu is fixed, so I would ask if they have a veggie alternate dinner. And then there's the belly dancing. The place aims to entertain in every way, so it's a good place to bring out-of-towners. Locals might find it a bit much.

This Moroccan restaurant is all about the atmosphere. Once you enter, you are guided to a both with a very low table. The seven course meal is a lot to eat. There is a catch, you have to eat the meal with your hands, there are no silverwares on the table. Along with the meal, there is a belly dancer performing in the middle of the restaurant.
