It's definitely worth to walk up from M street to get just a cup of coffee.

Apart from the amazing coffee, you can't go wrong with their cakes and pastries. Pastries are very light but so moist inside that you can taste butter!
I have tried their cheesecake, cassis mouse (I think that's what they called), chocolate cake, apple turnover, and apricot danish. They ALL amazed me, especially the Danish. I'm pretty sure their croissant is also pretty good.

If the words French caf scratch your sweet tooth, Patisserie Poupon is the place to start a lazy weekend morning or catch a spark in the late afternoon. Staying true to its roots, taste comes naturally, whether in a pastry or a tart??or the illy brand coffee, espresso, or French press. You??ll be lured in by the slice of European comfort that Georgetown??s streets make it easy to recreate, and you??ll come back for another slice of tiramisu. My decadent recommendation: start with an almond croissant (the bench mark of a worthwhile pastry shop), fight through to a caramel Napoleon (layers of custard stacked in between croissant cookie-wafers), and sip them down with hazelnut latte.

Pros: An espresso bar

Cons: Limitted seating during busy hours

Coffee served in limoges with steamed milk, crispy baguettes with melted chocolate and marzipan, could it get any better? Patisserie Poupon is located in a charming old house in Georgetown. It's a small place, but it has a cute patio that makes a great place to enjoy a cup of coffee or a decadent dessert. They have a full menu and are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
