My daughter attended NCCL from 6th grade to 8th grade and my only regret was not sending her there sooner. They have an amazing writing program and took her writing skills to a whole new level. We were also pleased with their math and science. She was well prepared for the academic content of high school. In addition to strong academics, I really appreciated the sense of community and how the children have opportunities to interact with kids across grade levels. The music program and arts opportunities were great too. It is a truly small wonder of Delaware.

I attended Nccl from kindergarten through 8th grade. I went on to graduate from Newark High School in 2006 with a distinguished diploma, 3.8 GPA and a member of the National Honors Society. I then went on to The University of Delaware majoring in fashion merchandising management and graduated in 2010. I quickly transitioned into public school, and found that the honors classes were very similar to the classes at nccl. Everyone was motivated and wanted to learn. I often felt that I was ahead of some of my peers in some areas, because nccl had focused on those subjects so intensely. Some of those subjects included: current events/ world issues, reading and math. I also was able to get a job in high school because of my work experience from the nccl apprenticing program. 7th and 8th graders are sent on Friday afternoons to different businesses on Main st. to learn job skills and responsibility. I worked at a local boutique during my junior and senior years of high school and was actually the first high school student they had ever hired. I loved my years at nccl and all the unique experiences and opportunities they gave me.

I attended NCCL from second to eight grade, graduating in 2002. I am so grateful to my parents for making the choice to send me to such an excellent school during perhaps the most formative years of my life.

I have so many fond memories of NCCL it would be impossible (and probably pretty boring) to recount them all here. I'm still friends with many of the people I graduated with as well as the teachers themselves. It's a wonderful gift to have such long lasting bonds with those who gave me my education.

NCCL created an environment where my skills in could develop naturally and independent of one another without having a lot of artificial standards imposed on me. From second to 5th grade my reading skills were terrible. So terrible in fact I likely would've been held back in the public system. Meanwhile I excelled in all other areas and continued on with NCCL's curriculum. By the time I entered into 7th grade my reading levels had caught up to my peers almost completely and when i entered into highschool my abilities in English were at or above those of my peers while my abilities in math and science were well above them.

More than anything else, NCCL taught me that learning is an enjoyable and rewarding experience in and of itself. It taught me that i didn't have to be afraid of my teachers and that as a student i could ask all the questions I wanted (within reason of course! :P)

Currently I'm finishing up my bachelors in Electrical Engineering with at least a 3.4 GPA. I'm excited about my future and I have NCCL to thank for giving me a foundation from where i could get to where I am today!

I attended NCCL from 4th through 8th grade. I came from a public school. After NCCL I attended a Catholic High School where I excelled, and then a public high school where I was more than prepared for Honors and AP classes. I went to NYU and UMBC where I graduated with honors - and I strongly believe all of this was made possible by NCCL.

NCCL doesn't teach academic content - they teach learning. I learned how to learn and how to love learning. I am now a 4th grade teacher myself, and although I teach in a public school, my experiences at NCCL influence my teaching every day. I understand the freedoms that students need in order to grow. I understand the importance of recognizing that a child is a person - who is growing and developing in more ways than just academic skills.

At NCCL I was exposed to camping, debating, theater, drawing, Spanish, social justice, writing, teamwork, volleyball, the joy of algebra, designing my own science experiments and writing lab reports, and so much more!

Another important aspect of NCCL is their care and concern for a child's social and personal development. My parents were split up and NCCL was located centrally between their residences. NCCL not only helped me grow intellectually, but they saw me as a person (no matter how small!) and helped me handle difficult issues. They do not shy away from the non-academic needs of their children.

I will forever be grateful for my experiences at NCCL. It made me a well-rounded person - academically, socially, intellectually. I think that the philosophy and guiding principals of NCCL can help any child blossom.

My older son went to NCCL for Kindergarten through 8th grade. He transitioned to Newark High School with no issues. He has been in honors classes all through high school. He is now a senior, taking 4 AP classes and is doing well in all of them. He has also been accepted at all of the colleges he applied to. I attribute much of this to NCCL, where he learned HOW to learn, and didn't just memorize rote facts. He also learned how to communicate well with other people, both adults and children. The local public schools are forced to teach toward the state testing; not so at NCCL, where kids can actually have fun learning. My younger son is now in 7th grade at NCCL and is becoming a well-rounded person. I am confident that he will be well prepared for high school, just as his brother was. NCCL might not be the right school for everyone, but my husband and I have both been very happy at how our sons have turned out as a result of attending NCCL.

I attended NCCL from kindergarten through 8th grade. It was a wonderful place to play and learn during my childhood. I remember always being active in school, whether it was recess or math class, we never sat still for long!
I adjusted well to public high school after my time at NCCL. NCCL made me a more confident person. I was not intimidated to talk to my teachers, try out for sports, and run for leadership positions in high school. You will be amazed at how your child blossoms at NCCL!
