We went with a group of 7 and we had very good service, along with very good food. Each person had something entirely different. Every entree came hot and delicious. We plan on going back often. I may even take my Red Hat Group there! Prices were in the average lunch price range. I plan to go back to dinner with my husband soon.

I met a friend to talk over some business. This was the first time I had been to 1776 since it reopen. The place looks great ! The staff was very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. The food was great and the homemade chips were awesome. I love the new prices.
I will be telling everyone to stop in.

decided to check out the 1776 on a recent saturday nite . the place was pretty busy and we had a short wait for our table . our waiters gave good service and we both ordered filets -- steaks were seasoned just right and cooked as ordered.

food was good value and place looked good.

can see why this place has been around so long -was good.

we have always loved 1776. the service was wonderful as was the food. never had a bad meal there. we went early feb 08 after not having been in a while. i didn't realize there were new owners but it didn't take long for me to figure it out. the service was mediocre at best. the worst thing was how the chef manage to ruin the fabulous cuts of meat they serve there. my ny strip was so heavily seasoned (ALOT of salt), you couldn't even taste the meat. my husband's barrel steak was the same way. i took most of it home for my dog. $35 is more than i want to spend for dog food. won't be going back.

My husband and I have been to 1776 for lunch twice since it re-opened under new management. We were very pleased with the food both times. The pumpkin crab soup was very good. As for the beef vegetable soup, I declined an offer of crackers, as there was literally no room for them in the bowl. It was a pleasant and filling experience. Their "Mixed Greens Salad" was wonderful too. It came with dried cherries, candied walnuts and a sweet (honey?)vinaigrette that was absolutely yummy! We are locals who go to lunch about once a week. We were happy to have one more non- mass-produced lunch option. We will certainly return again

i have heard about this place for sometime.it closed and just recently reopened under new owners. we arrived for ontime for our reservations was placed at a table the was very cramped in very closed to the other tables.after 25 minutes a server finally came to our table. another 20 minutes went by before the first drink arrived.i ordered the house steak "the barrell"medium as recommended by the waiter. what i got was a blood soaked steak. i returned which i have never in my life done. it still came out very rare. i gave up. in the middle of our meal the host asked one if we would mind getting up so a customer that was dining at the table behind us could leave. there was no room for the overweight man to get out. a wheelchair would be in big trouble here. i can't say i will go back anytime soon.

The 1776 is located in a strip mall just north of rehobeth on Route 1, beach side. The restaurant has an amazing selection of steaks, brought tableside for ordering. The many changes often, but my favorite is their filet mignon covered in crab imperial topped with bernaise sauce. Their crab soup is a unique cream soup combined with pumpkin, quite tasty.
