We were pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. It doesn't look real elegant from the outside, but the food was fabulous. This is one of our favorite places to eat.

Getting into Culinaria isn't easy due to their no reservations policy. However, if you go early or late you probably won't have a problem. Even a short wait is worth it.

The cuisine is New American with an eclectic, extensive menu that's updated daily. I frequently order two appetizers for dinner and enjoy that as much as an entree-sized choice. Whether you order fish, meat, pasta, or chicken, or even soup and salad, you're sure to enjoy the experience here.

A recent dinner at Culinaria featured excellent softshells that were in season. Tried the spicy thai version with jasmine rice which was very spicy but tasty and also enjoyed the more sublime version with almonds. Both featured generous portions and had three softshells per order. An appetizer of octopus was delicious as well, and the meal was topped off by a molten lava cake that was apparently from the delicious Sweet Somethings bakery in Wilmington. The service was fine and the restaurant gets crowded later in the evening, so I would go early. My one only beef, even though Culinaria's website insinuates that they update their menu specials every night, that is not the case, as the specials listed online have not been updated for some time now. So if you are looking for softshells (or anything else not on the usual menu) you need to give them a call.
