The food is great, but each time we've come here, the wait time for food is ridiculous, especially in an almost empty dining room. The last time we visited, we ordered full size mac & chz dishes so that we could take leftovers home and we were served the lunch size. When we asked our server, she insisted that they were full size despite the table behind us ordering lunch size and getting the same portion size as ours. We asked again when the check came and we were charged for full size orders and our waitress began to get curt and insisted we got we ordered and were charged accordingly then quickly removed our plates. When speaking to the manager, he only offered to adjust the bill to reflect lunch sized portions, and even waiting for the corrected check took almost 15 minutes. Again, the food is great, but make sure you've got plenty of time to spend waiting for it and look over your bill. My suggestion is that they focus on staff performance rather than how they look in short shorts and a tight t-shirt if they want their dining room business to thrive.

We were one of two bands playing a last month. We drew a huge crowd. They charged a cover and sold many drinks. Neither band was paid. They gave a story that money was stolen. I guess management thought our time was free and they took advantage. Just know what you're dealing with when coming to this establishment.

My wife and I had dinner at a half-full Matilda's on Tuesday night. I had a "Roo Burger" and my wife had Fish and Chips dipped in a beer batter. Both meals were very good. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the service. Our server was very unattentive and not only was confused about the meals but was also confused when questioned about the bill. We will probably go back because of the food but I hope you have better luck with the service!

We entered into Matilda's to a weird scene. The place wasn't really busy, save for the bar, they had just recovered from a large party (the waitresses explained to us), and for some reason, it was taking forever for the parties already seated to get their food.

We were pleased to know that on Sundays, kids eat free, so we saved five bucks.

In waiting to place our order, we overheard mistake after mistake, and saw the only two waitresses in the joint apologizing to almost every visit they made to the tables, and running back to fix the err. We didn't have very high expectations at this point.

It took an OK time to get our order, but my burger was not made to specs. I ordered a medium, and mine was med-well, closer to the well done side. My husband ordered the ahi tuna, and was not impressed. The bed of rice with asparagus that the tuna was embedded in seemed like something we could have made from a Stouffer's skillet meal. The ahi tuna itself was a lovely presentation piece, having been encrusted in black sesame seeds, but the flavor was lacking and it was dry. My husband couldn't bear the thought of choking it down, since it was, after all 18 bucks.

So he had it switched out for the Bowen Chicken, which was really nice, if you like savory pastries with a sweet sauce. It was a pastry filled with tender pulled chicken and brie cheese in a mango puree sauce, that had a hint of alcohol.

On top of this, we ordered a crock of onion soup we had to retract, because the waitress in a frenzy told us she asked to put a rush on it, but wasn't sure if it would come out before the order, so we said nevermind on that. The pepperberry butter with the fresh bread rolls was pleasant, we asked to take some home . Overall, we will go there again. It wasn't the best first time experience, but we will do it again, anxious to try out the Aussie Sampler with emu and roo meat.

PROS: unique dishes at average prices. Something for everyone. Kids eat free Sundays.
CONS: long wait for food, wasn't pleased with original order, bot won't keep us from coming back.

Hmm, after reading the reviews, I have to say this must be a different Matilda's than when it first opened. There was no aussie manager to be seen introducing himself to everyone, and we just didn't get that "something special" dining experience that others have talked of.

Well I have dine in at Matilda's and the food was great. However I decided to do a takeout..bad move. The baked potato was not done..the sour cream had started to separate in the small take out container. The meat pies was rolled like egg rolls instead of a pie roll out. Too make a long story short... take out experience was not great. Oh..also it took over 45 mins. Not sure at this time if I will return.

My husband and I took our two children to Matilda's for lunch today and had a very good experience. My husband and my burgers were both cooked perfectly to our orders. Mine was one of the best burgers I have had in years. And let's talk about the fries...a-MAZE-ing!

The children's menu had a good variety, but was a bit high priced as far as children's menus go at around $5-6, not including a drink.

The only down point was the dessert. We ordered the cobbler and it was almost sent back. The bread was dry, the fruit was from a can and the ice cream was iced over.

Will we go there again? Most definately, but we will be unlikely to order dessert again.

Matilda's has absolutely amazing food - Better than all the places on Main Street. The Aussie Owner comes around and chats with you. Get the Ribs and definitely add the Shrimp. Recommed this place to everyone.

This is one hundred times more authentic than Outback Steakhouse. Entrees include Roo Burgers and Emu and even the desserts are a real Australian treat. It has all the benefits of a non-chain restaurant - no one tries to rush you through your meal and the owner/manager walks around introducing himself to everyone. Definitely worth checking out.

Authentic Aussie meals! Some of the best fish, if you're pockets are deep, or if you're a student, enjoy a reasonably priced burger - they're AMAZING!

PROS: Best food in town, Best service in town
CONS: Music can be a bit loud on Fri during dinner

Matilda's is like a non-chain version of outback steakhouse. They have a very divese menu, it is not just things you'd expect like steaks and blooming onions. They serve kangeroo and emu and lots of delicious things you can't find anywhere else. it's great for a formal date or just a light lunch. beautiful deserts!
