I had a great experience the first time that I went to this store for my best friend's wedding, but my experience for my own wedding is a different story and I feel lucky that I was able to get my girls' money back and find even better dresses elsewhere in a shop that actually cares about its customers. About 6 months ago I went with my Maid of Honor to find the dress that I wanted for my bridesmaids. We found the perfect style, but one of the colors I'd seen in the catalog was wrong (the book said it was Lapis but the dresses shown were a rich purple color instead of the almost navy color of the lapis dresses we looked at). We worked with a woman named Beth who was wonderful and very helpful. She entered our information into the computer for me, and so I talked to my bridesmaids about coming in together as well. When we went back in February, the girl that worked with us seemed like she was new, but the only issue that I ran into was that she told me there were no sample dresses in cognac, which I found very easily on my own. I also found a dress in the other color I'd originally wanted on a dress on the racks, which turned out to be plum. Also turned out to be discontinued, so I had to look for a new color for my MOH's dress. One of my girls ordered the dress in cognac that night, and I picked wine for the MOH's dress. They gave no indication of any problems with the dress and said it would be fine to order them through June.
Jump to May. The BM that ordered her dress was able to pick it up, and it looked great. A couple of weeks later, my MOH and I went in to order the same dress in the wine color, to find out that we couldn't. The woman spoke to someone on the phone and found out that it was 'only the wine color, none of the other colors', but when she told me that we couldn't order her dress she was almost chipper about it. I was very upset because I??d been given no warning that the color would be discontinued, and was given no help or even apologies for the trouble. No other colors worked with the cognac so my MOH asked for a list of dresses still available in wine. She passed us off to a consultant who pulled dresses that I specifically told her not to bother pulling, and then left us in a dressing room saying she would come back with the other dresses. Not only did she not come back for 20 minutes, but when she did she had other customers and tried to put them in the same dressing room that my MOH was still changing in! She??d claimed to be unable to find a smaller size for the one dress we picked, so I went to look for myself and found it, surprise surprise. She asked over and over what color we were ordering for her dress and shoes (with the paper still sitting right in front of her) and claimed her card was expired when it wasn't. Two days later one of my BMs living in MA called saying she wasn't able to order the dress at all, which I'd been told TWO DAYS before that it would be fine for their color.
I went back to the Wilm. store to find out what could be done, and the assistant manager helped us. At first he was testy and wouldn't really listen to the problem. When he finally got it, he got on the phone and found out the dress was indeed discontinued, but said he would talk to the head of customer service and if the dresses existed anywhere he would find them, and if they couldn't fix it he would take care of refunds. I felt confident that he would take care of the problems one way or the other. I received a phone call a couple of days later saying the dresses simply weren't there, so I looked online but found nothing I liked.
When I went in to get the refunds taken care of, Bob's first response when he realized I wanted to go elsewhere was "You're going to leave like that, just because you couldn't get your dress?" No, your employees gave me misinformation and no respect every time a problem came up. I'm not dealing with that any more. He also said "you guys came in at the perfect time, we're already in the hole today." I was blown away by the utter lack of professionalism from the one person I thought could fix the problem. I don't care how your store is faring, you made a commitment, and it??s NOT my fault you don't like that you have to follow through with it. I can't say I'm surprised either, with the treatment I received. When I went in later to return the BM dress, he didn??t look at or acknowledge us at all until he asked for my name, and then snatched the dress from my BM's hand.
Based on the other reviews I??ve read about this company, I feel lucky that I was able to get out before there was no turning back. It is a bridal shop?I would??ve expected that these people would actually care whether or not they ruined a wedding. Only 1 of 7 people I dealt with was actually professional and respectful and the greatest level of unprofessionalism came from the assistant manager. I will be warning brides to be against dealing with your company and risking even more stress than I dealt with.

David's has one of the best selections in Delaware. Staff can be a little haughty. But overall nice selection, good prices, lots of choices, options. They even have the occasional sale (not a lot of bridal shops in this areas do). You need an appointment to really do it right. But you can go in without one and still get good service.

PROS: Selection, price
CONS: Alterations can be more expensive than other places.
