If you like Sci-fi, Fantasy, Horror, New Age, Comic Books, Graphic Novels, or Gaming & Action Figures, then Between Books is the place to go in DE, PA & NJ. This a independent bookstore, not a chain, run with a personal touch. Greg opened in 1979, and I've been shopping there since 1983ish.

He has a full selection of books in these genre's and his knowledge is encyclopedic. If you stop by enough and he gets to know you, he may even recommend books - Greg's helped me find new authors I love and reconnect with old favorites.

They also have several lines of gaming gear & books plus action figures. They host games, author readings, book signings and even sell tickets for folk music shows at the nearby Arden Guild Hall.

The other reviews must be about a different bookstore of the same name - one mentions a different town, as Between Books in Delaware is not a trade-in or barter store. There is a used paperback section, but there is primarily new merchandise.

This indy bookstore is great if you know (or want to learn) that fantasy offers much more than Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings (as enjoyable as they are). It's located not far off I-95, just S. of PA/DE state line on Rt 13 S. (Philadelphia Pike), at the shopping center at the corner with Harvey Road (on Rt if coming S. on Phila. Pike). Lots of free parking.

I really like this place. Maybe because I love the idea of trading in my old books for someone else's old books. And they have a great selection of scary books. You can get credit for what you bring, but I'm not sure how it works (I trade right then and there). A good experience for kids. My son loves to trade in books for "new" ones.

PROS: Love a good horror novel
CONS: Some categories are smaller than others.

This store works on the bartering principle. You can swap your books and magazines for other books and magazines, or purchase merchandise with the credit you received from previous sales. This book store establishment specializes in science fiction, horror, war games, and the occult, which do not really appeal to me. I did find a mystery novel to my liking.

PROS:
CONS: Concentrates on occult, horror
